Decided to stick with putting it on the AR10T. The PA 1x6 now on it is a fine scope, but the recticle doesn,'t work well with my old eyes for distance target work. The 1x6 will find a better home on my Diamondback 5.56 AR.

Had an older Arsenal 27 myself in 7.62x39.The milled receivers are superior. The accuracy is so much better as much due to the extra pound of weight as anything, though I am sure the rigidity helps. It is a tool, and like any tool, when used within its design parameters it is useful. It has a good home now where it is used and valued.

Just picked up a PA 4x14 from the for sale section. My original intent was to put it on my AR10-T carbine. Now I am thinking of two other candidates: My Springfield M1A loaded currently has a Burriss Fullfield II 3x9Xon it and my Colt 5.56 HBAR has a Firefox 1x6X Front Focal Plane MilDot scope on it. The HBAR gets fed a diet of 75gr. BTHP exclusively, the M1A 168gr and 175 gr. BTHP exclusively, like the AR10T. Decisions, decisions.

Taking a PA 1x6 off my AR10T carbine, as the rifle outperforms the limits of the scope. Putting on a PA 4x14 and moving the PA 1x6 to my DiamondbackAR15 carbine. So I would agree with Edgecrusher,

I have always had good luck with PMC brass. I would take the time to fill one with water and weigh it on a digital scale both full and empty to check the internal volume. If you have a Lake City M-80 brass you can compare it to so much the better. Or the brass used in a reloading manual. That will give you an idea if you are at a similar internal volume. If I remember correctly, I found PMC brass weighed slightly more and had slightly less internal volume, which meant more brass for strength but slightly higher pressures. Don’t depend on my recollection though, check it.

Yes you can, but I would seriously consider taking it to an experienced firearms dealer and find out it’s worth to collectors. I think you could pick up a nice carbine plus have some additional pocket money if you chose to sell it. Just my opinion. I have an HBAR and modified it. I would have been money ahead if I had sold it instead.

Well You all Beef Hooked Laddie

Can anyone who is Irish translate this for me? I was in a Pub yesterday and a very inebriated fellow with a thick Irish brogue was asked by the waitress if he needed anything. He responded “Whale Oil Beef Hooked”. The waitress said they didn’t have that dish and he stumbled out the door. I am curious to try Whale Oil Beef Hooked now, but I am not quite sure how Whale Oil Beef Hooked is prepared. Any ideas? I do have a suspicion that I have experienced Whale Oil Beef Hooked under a different name before, and perhaps quite often. I just didn’t realize it.

I am surprised it says not for bolt action firearms. I have been using a small base sizing die for my bolt and pump action 30-06’s since 1979. For semi auto 308’s the SB die is necessary because you need to resize the whole case, as opposed to the upper 2/3 of the case, for feeding and ejection reliability.

I put the crimp reamer on a cordless drill, and hold the brass with a workglove. It is crude but it works and is quick. Then I pop a shell holder in the drill, pop the cases in, and quick deburr and chamfer the case mouths.

I can vouch for DPete’s procedure. I have used his 308 cases. They are as clean and spec as new OEM cases, if not better.

That is where I am sitting. Since I had a torn retina four years ago I have had some occluding matter in my left eye that leaked in before the laser surgery fixed it. It is a PITA, but doesn’t really affect my eyesight. The Retina specialist I saw said the surgery to remove it has a 5% chance of causing total blindness in that eye, and suggested doing nothing unless it starts to impair my vision. As I have just the beginnings of a cataract in that eye, I will probably wait and consider having it done at or near the time I have cataract surgery, if I have it done at all. I can live with it for now.

My eyesight is so screwed up now glasses don’t seem to help anyway. I am left eye dominant and shoot a rifle left handed with my left eye. I shoot a pistol right handed using my weaker right eye, which is near sighted anyway. Don’t use glasses for shooting either. Only thing I can say is it works for me.

Why I try to avoid buying Duracells. Right out of the box. I have lost more equipment due to leaking Duracell batteries then all the other battery manufacturers combined.

1 and 1/2 hour of fishing. 8 whitefish, 3 over 24" and one Burbot. Dinner and then some.
