  1. Biggest saver of weight is in the barrel. Go LW profile like a Sionics, Odin SS, or Faxon. Next area to save weight is the handguard. Nothing beats BCM's KMR (especially with Scarr's 7068 barrel nut). Lastly, get an adjustable gas block so you can tune things to run well with a light buffer (and BCG if you choose to go that route). My current LW build weighs in at 5lbs, 10oz and I could easily cut out another 1/2lb if I didn't require some as reliable parts (using VLTOR A5 system, for instance).
  2. I never said they weren't accurate, but that they didn't have an established record of being accurate. Nobody ever says "PSA" when people ask what's a really accurate barrel anywhere. That said, considering how they spec some things out on their 5.56 barrels (such as a slightly larger gas port), leads me to believe their tolerances aren't the tightest. I wouldn't be surprised if their barrel produced 1MOA, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it did 2.5MOA. I wouldn't expect sub 1MOA though. If I were to pick parts I wouldn't pick a bull barrel (too damn heavy!), If I wanted higher velocity and was budget conscious I'd pick the Faxon Firearms 20" barrel. Faxon's 5.56 barrels perform very well (Robar uses their 4150CMV nitrided barrels in their AR-15s and guarantees 1MOA or better with them) and I'd expect their .308 barrels to do the same.
  3. If the factory upper config is exactly what you're looking for then that might be a better value, but usually it isn't, so buying it, then buying new parts to put on it ends up more expensive than building it yourself. If you build, you can generally get a better barrel for the same price too (PSA hasn't established themselves as a precision .308 barrel yet, and also isn't generally regarded as a precision barrel for AR-15s either).
  4. Welcome aboard!
  5. Welcome!
  6. Keep fighting the good fight! Lol, this worse than people using "magazine" and "clip" interchangeably.
  7. The PA/PTAC 10 line has had some inconsistencies with general LR-308 parts. Until they build up a history without these issues nobody can say for sure. Your best bet is to probably get a PSA/PTAC 10 stripped upper, and then build on it.
  8. Please stop believing the Russian misinformation campaign... You can't trust anything the Russians/DNR/LNR or their various online trolls claim. That picture is from an astronaut of the sunrise. If you really want to know what's going on in Ukraine, I suggest this forum.
  9. Measured my PWS (SI-Defense) upper receiver and it was 2.061"
  10. Lots of suppressor mountable muzzle devices are supposed to use peel washers/shims these days (and they come with them).
  11. Advocating buying stolen property? C:-)
  12. Turkey knife.
  13. Couldn't you also just buy an LR-308 barrel and use it with an LR-308 BCG too?
  14. Nice. I use an electric carving knife to cut my foam. Works well around curves too.
  15. Whatever you do, stay away from ASC mags. I made that mistake.
  16. If you order a new bolt assembly from them the picture has 3-piece rings.
  17. If you want something more rugged than the PA microdot, Holosun, and Vortex sights, try the Aimpoint PRO or Meprolight Tru Dot RDS. I bought one of the Tru Dot RDS sights during the black friday sale and like it a lot. The battery life is ~2 years (15k-18khrs) at max brightness. It also has an auto-on and off function and integrated QD mount. I like the large window.
  18. Not "falls" per say, but I've had plenty that could be slid in without using hair dryer or heat gun. The tighter ones absolutely require that. Never claimed it did. Said it was supplemental.
  19. While not as much as the barrel and trigger, BCM (and some others) also claim that having a tight fit between the barrel extension and the upper receiver also helps accuracy (which is why they undersize the barrel extension opening on their BCM4 uppers slightly). Full power hammer springs also aid precision per Geissele and the AMU.
  20. That doesn't make them good though. Oman and Georgia (post acquisition) having Bushmasters doesn't mean much. They could put out some good guns, but likewise they put out a lot of not so great ones.
  21. Let's clarify that statement a bit. There have been some small government purchases of Bushmasters (Windham) in the past, but they were NOT the military. There have also been similar purchases of RRA and Stag too, so that doesn't mean much. I don't trust the Bushmaster of old at all (they're like CMMG to me) and wouldn't consider them better than the Freedom group version.
  22. Rifle gas lengths generally have a smoother recoil feel with a softer impulse.
  23. Are you getting a good deal on it? Those LR-308 Oracles have some pretty harsh recoil (my friend has one). You'll definitely want an adjustable gas block and/or heavy buffer. With how much stuff you're going to have to change on that gun, I'm wondering if it'd be cheaper for you to just build it yourself.
  24. Looks like Numrich has them too.
  25. Welcome! What barrel length are you looking for? Also, why do you want flutes? If you're going for bull profile, weight doesn't seem to be of any concern. Cosmetics? Lastly, AR-10s are only made by Armalite and others can adhere to the AR-10 pattern, but what you're building is an LR-308 pattern .308 AR, not AR-10. Nomenclature matters because if you don't properly distinguish the difference, you'll end up with parts that are incompatible with each other. Rainier Arms has some barrels you may be interested in.
