  1. ^^^ Lot of good looking products in that picture JT!!!
  2. Ordered a couple sets of Clymer head space go/no go gauges. 1 set for 223 & 1 set for 308. Also ordered a couple bench blocks. Got them at Brownell's & was sure to use the link from here so our website gets credit for referring.
  3. During the Labor Day sales, Ares Armor had a 16" 308/7.62x51 barrel on sale. There were some questions about the listing because the title listed it as 308 but the barrel is stamped 7.62x51 Nato. Well, for $108 delivered to my door I had to buy it. But it also got me thinking about the possible differences so I did a little research and found an article over at the Fulton Armory website which I will paste a portion of below: "What's the Difference between .308 Winchester & 7.62x51mm NATO?by Clint McKee and Walt Kuleckdumb question i alway thought these 2 ammos where interchangeable but some have told me otherwise whats the story??? jim Hi, Jim, This is a perennial topic, kinda like ".45 vs. 9mm" or "Best Guns & Loads for Deer." They are not the same. They are the same. They are not the same, 'cause the .308 Win was released by Winchester several years before the Army standarized the T64E3 as the 7.62MM. You'll get an endless discussion of pressure specs, endless because SAAMI and the Ordnance Dep't measured pressure in different, unrelateable ways. Howver, the chamber drawings are different. They are the same, 'cause nobody (and Clint's been looking for many years!) makes 7.62MM ammo that isn't to the .308 "headspace" dimension spec. So 7.62MM ammo fits nicely into .308 chambers, as a rule. But in some 7.62MM rifles the chambers are long (to the 7.62MM military spec), notably the Navy Garands with 7.62MM barrels. Thus, using commercial ammo in such a rifle is not a good idea; you need stronger brass. Use military ammo or the best commercial only, e.g., Federal Gold Medal Match. Most of the time it's a distinction without a difference. But if you intend to shoot .308 commercial in a military arm chambered for 7.62MM, first check the headspace with .308 commercial gauges first. You may get a surprise. Best regards, Walt KuleckFulton Armory webmaster" The rest of the article can be found on the Fulton Armory website under the Faq section. So, after reading this, I headed over to Brownell's and picked up a set of Clymer 308 headspace gauges. When I get the barrel delivered I will check the headspace between it and my 308 Aero Precision bolt to report back the findings. Now to wait for the delivery...I hate that part...lol
  4. It worked, GG has the right idea!
  5. Lancer mags work well, have metal feedlips. Quality products. More expensive than P-Mags though.
  6. Rattle can that bad boy up! Own it, make it yours!
  7. Lol, now that's funny!!! I can only imagine the conversations had...
  8. I do have a weakness for tanned, fit, raven haired beauties...
  9. And here I thought it was because they were rolled on the thighs of beautifully tanned Cuban women...oh wait...that might have been good cigars... lol
  10. Thanks jerk!!! LMAO I think my next purchase aside from a rail for the new 11.5" barrel I just bought is going to be one of those Giraud trimmers.
  11. So, you've had this thing over 5 months. How do you like it? How does it compare to the Griffin Flashcomp?
  12. Hey Wash, sorry to hear about the AC. But on the bright side, you'll have a new toy because of the new barrrel. I haven't jumped into the 300BLK pond yet. I'm sure it's only a matter of time but I'm holding out!!! That's just more ammo of a different type I'd have to purchase...lol
  13. Well thank God that's over!!! I'm afraid my friends were right to warn me about becoming soft by living in Washington. It seems I have lost some of my willpower and spent more on these damned sales than I anticipated!
  14. Not to nitpick but this thread really should be in the hunting or ammunition section...just saying...
  15. Well I checked, and this thread was started long ago but has been continuously updated so I'm replying to it. Thanks to the Labor Day sale at Primary Arms a Geissele SSA-E will be shipped to me this week. Yep, popping my cherry. It'll go on my 11.5" 5.56 AR.
  16. Well poop fire...I'm in...just need the details.
  17. ^^^ I hadn't thought of that...never got into the black powder side of things. They could possibly use bismuth like they do in shotshells right? Either way, that state is run by a breed of assius clownus...very sad...
  18. Tom would never do such a thing to a friend! Right Tom?
  19. That was cool of you to help him out & also let him shoot your 308. I'm sure he enjoyed it! Who knows, might have even pushed him toward owning one. Did you tell him about our website?
  20. ^^^ GG, I presently live in Washington but have family in the dread state of California.
  21. They sure did. It's in phases but the 1st phase, besides anything in the Condor zone which already requires it, began July 1st of 2015. The final phase, effective July 1st 2019, all game taken anywhere in the entire state must be done so with lead free ammunition. Tried to post a link but this craptastic new mobile version of the website screws it up still.
  22. It seems that the AZ crew is more diligent about providing their AARs immediately after when the Intel is still fresh. Noticed that the Cali crew still hasn't posted about their exploits and that happened yesterday! Looks like a lot of fun fellas. Glad to see it! Now...more vids & pics please.
  23. All I use for big game are the 300WSM Nosler Accubond cartridges from 150gr to 180gr with the latter being my go to. I haven't ever used my gas guns for hunting but would still feel very confident when using the Accubonds. I agree that the best advice is to buy a few different boxes of ammo and see which your weapon prefers. These days, as long as your using hunting ammunition, the bullets are all pretty effective.
  24. ^^^^ Hey Tom, I know you like to Cerekote your weapons so I have a question about that. When the weapon is anodized it increases surface hardness of the aluminum, when you sandblast it and then Cerekote it, does that reduce the surface strength of the metal to any appreciable degree?
  25. Just double checked, looks like those 18" 308 barrels are no longer listed as available.
