I fell 14 feet out of a tree when I was 7 or 8 and landed directly on an exposed root, the impact point was at the base of my spine. To this day, it's unexplainable as to why I wasn't crippled, it really only knocked all the breath out of me when the rest of my body hit. Anyways, this guy got off really easy, I had to laugh. Landing on the ol' tailbone hurts pretty bad.... Wish I had some video of the time one of my older brothers convinced me that jumping off the roof of our house with umbrellas was good training for being paratroopers later in life. We spent the next few days unable to walk... <laughs> :cookoo:

He knows full well how hard headed I am and that he stood no chance of winning the argument. He basically ended up agreeing that it's not correct for anyone to legislate their difference of opinion onto someone else.

On the AR it's pretty simple, buy from a reputable manufacturer and ask for a matched bolt. They will headspace it for you. Headspacing is usually done when a barrel is assembled anyways, if you ever get one that doesn't headspace correctly, you should check that your bolt type is correct, and after that you need to send your barrel back to the manufacturer.

Had a little discussion with my older brother last night, he's an avid hunter. He was talking about how gun owners are going to lose out for refusing to make concessions to the anti-gun crowd. Funny how he started to backpeddle when I said "Oh no, I think we absolutely should make concessions, starting with hunting firearms." He can't understand why recreational shooters won't relinquish high-cap magazines, I told him for the same reasons he wasn't going to relinquish his bow or his bolt-actions.

I think the explanation is even more simple than that. The pharmaceuticals industry can pump 10s, 100s, and 1,000s times more money into the US lobbies than the pro-gun crowd can. If you knew how much moolah big pharmaceuticals is pumping into our government, you'd probably pass out at the realization.
