  1. I think it's the ejector spring - or the ejector itself is tight in the hole in the bolt. I'm betting it is not the extractor.
  2. Best question in the thread - 5.56 stuff is made to a standard, and should all work together based on that manufacturing standard. Am I saying not to check headspace on a 5.56 build? Not really - but they're made to the same specs, and the same tolerance ranges. Well, they SHOULD be made that way... If you're buying 5.56 parts from reputable manufacturers or vendors, you shouldn't have to worry about headspace being an issue, most of the time. Due to machining tolerances and the comditions of machine equipment, you can end up with something out-of-spec. It's not common. It's not un-possible, though. Headspace on a 5.56 build is not one of those tolerances (in machining) that they let slack, though. Any flavor of the 308 ARs is a completely different story. Basically, if it's not A 5.56 build, you BETTER check it every single time.
  3. Right on, brother - I'm just glad that thing is running like it should be. Now, where's my Navy buddy that thinks I'm full of $hit?... <lmao>
  4. Fulton automatically does that for you, if you buy the barrel and the bolt at the same time (or the barrel and a whole BCG). They don't even ask if you want it done - they do it to make sure it leaves, and will function like it should. That might be why they didn't respond to you - it's something that they already do for customers, and I think it's posted on their website.
  5. ^^^ Those Spikes barrel nut shims came with the Big A$s Rail when it first came out - don't know if they still do or not, but I'd be that they do still include that. You clocked your barrel nut and checked it's gas tube position without a shim - the hole had to line up about 45-degrees out from top dead center, before tightening. If I remember that right... Anyways, if it didn't, you added a shim, until you got it right. Once you had it right, at the "pre-tighten" spot, you applied torque and lined it up - perfect torque every time. I still have some of those shims left over for a 5.56 gun, and I've thought about using them on builds after that... but I just torqued those on and went with it. The shims are good stuff, though. You could have a rifle with high torque on the nut, shim it, and still line up perfectly at lower torque. <thumbsup>
  6. That Soldier is just awesome. That's one hell of an accomplishment, all by itself, and he never lost sight of that target. Very impressive.
  7. Back now, truck unloaded. What a damn great trip. Couple visitors from out of town, one from Cincinnatti and one from Alaska. I've got more than two hours of GoPro vid to upload, so that'll probably take me a week on my blazin' slow connection...
  8. Just confirmation - The traditional B pattern upper, that uses the Armalite mags is definitely different than the newer A pattern. The A pattern has different reliefs in it for the Pmags to slide up into, when the Pmag is locked into the lower. The two different uppers are not mix-n-match onto the B lower, or the A lower. You have to have a B upper on a B lower, and the A upper only goes with the A lower.
  9. I plan on getting some sand in my crack. Meeting up with DNP for another dune trip. One of our friends from Cincinnatti is making the trip west, and his dumb a$s hasn't been out to the sand with us since 2006. This will be another "gathering" based on someone being out west, and it's a target of opportunity. All told, there will probably be a dozen of us in camp, so we'll get some pics up here after the trip. If there's a way to get some helmet-cam footage, that will be up here, too. Stay tuned... <lmao> This is what happened in '06 - jump gone bad, and there is NO slack. If you want slack, cut the rope... <lmao> Bigfoot sighting...
  10. That's a very good one, ss. Nice, brother. <thumbsup>
  11. The TAC is a very equivalent powder for the Mk262 loads, so I've been sticking with it. I haven't tried the CFE yet.
  12. I'd deem all those remaining loads as practice ammo, and start fresh with new loads for the hunt. <thumbsup>
  13. $hit-tons of it at the Cabela's Glendale store. Metric $hit-tons.
  14. I'm even down to it for $30/lb. That's my perfect powder for the 5.56 75 and 77grainers.
  15. I'm having flashbacks on that damn beaver that Jon posted... :bat: :enguard: :909:
  16. BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAA!!!! <lmao>
  17. Jon, have your buddy dig DEEP into the NJ laws first - their stuff is weird. Well, just as weird as CA-CT-MA-MD-CO-NY anyway. NJ has some unique stuff. Direct the guy to look at the NJ Hometown forum on ARFCOM. Not kidding. Good info there.
  18. MMMmmm... Some people like their women that way, too. I'm just sayin'... <lmao>
  19. Not all barrel nuts have hole in them for a gas tube to pass through - but that doesn't matter. You NEVER need loc-tite on a barrel nut. No matter what.
  20. Aaron Lewis, from Staind. He's a damn good dude, and one genuine American.
  21. I'll help a brother out - I can save you some money and hook that tooth right up for cheap, brother... <lmao> These are my Snap-On Psycho Pliers...

    Grilling

Always, brother, always. <thumbsup> I'll be visiting with DNP over the weekend, and I'm trying to figure out a way to take this grill... <lmao>
  23. Well, Option 2 it is, then. That was easy...
  24. Two here - one from RGuns when the silliness was in full swing - does well, easy to clean. One from Rainier Arms - VERY damn nice, and easiest to clean. I also have a chromed Young National Match carrier - that damn thing is just a work of art, and just as easy to clean as a NiB carrier.

I'll try to redeem myself, brothers. BRATS TONIGHT!!!
