  1. Very glad to have you as allies - very much so. <thumbsup> :ecs: This is one of the baddest guys in NZ - Hunter, you probably recognize him: He's on the right, in the pic below.
  2. Hit up Ident Marking, or Orion Engraving - they both do very well at it. Don't get upset if some random engraving company doesn't want to work on a firearm - lot's of places don't want the responsibility.
  3. How much did WMD charge for that, ken?
  4. That is one BADASS pistol, brother! <thumbsup> Local buddy has the Scorpion 5". If he leaves that thing laying out too long, he's gonna be lookin' for it... I'm just sayin'... ;D
  5. Can't wait to see this one, Drew... <thumbsup> I'm extremely proud that I could be such a terrible influence... <lmao> <laughs>
  6. Exactly... <lmao> You don't have to be the fastest... You just need to be faster than one other guy... :o
  7. ...reminds me of my youth... <lmao>
  8. Here's the rifle and rail, as an attached pic. <thumbsup>
  9. There are 4 different sizes that are possibilities: .625", .750", .875", and .936". I've never seen a .308 AR barrel that uses the .625" gas block diameter - that would be one thin-walled barrel! :o Most common are .750" and .936", on standard and bull barrels, respectively. .875" isn't "uncommon," but it's just not as common as the other two sizes. You don't need to be precise in the measuring to determine what yours is - it's pretty basic. About 3/4" in diameter (.750), 7/8" (.875), or 15/16" (for the .936).
  10. New comparison from GearScout a few days ago - good stuff! <thumbsup> http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/2012/07/27/21-ar-grips-compared/
  11. Basically, any of the ones that will work on the AR-15 will work on the big brother, as long as it fits under/inside your rail. Determine what the mounting area diameter is on yours, and look for a low profile AR gas block. Tons of manufacturers. Quick example: https://www.google.com/#hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=low+profile+AR+gas+block&oq=low+profile+AR+gas+block&gs_l=hp.12..0i30j0i8i30l3.2700.2700.0.5726.1.1.0.0.0.0.529.529.5-1.1.0...0.0...1c.Sp4Ejp63hus&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=3ed3544520899534&biw=1280&bih=717
  12. You do seem a little testy... <laughs> <lmao>
  13. Easy enough fix - just take it to a gunsmith that can put a slight polish on that .308 Win chamber. <thumbsup>
  14. Carbine gas system on that one - based on the parts that are stock on that, you could definitely benefit from a heavier buffer (find Slash, at HeavyBuffers.com), but I'd suspect a rough chamber, possibly combined with the ammo... Try some different ammo first, man, and see how it does with that.
  15. How about the full specs on the rifle? Let's get that going here, and see what we're working with. Fixed stock, rifle buffer, or collapsible stock and weighted carbine buffer, etc. Barrel length, gas system length, so on... That'll help. Buffer can have an affect, but it's typically not the sole culprit. It can be, but usually not. <thumbsup>
  16. That's a damn good rifle! <thumbsup>
  17. Yes, ammo can definitely be the issue, as well as a rough chamber. Combine the two, and I can certainly see that breaking an extractor. Approximately how many rounds through the rifle, total?
  18. <laughs> <lmao> That's pretty damn funny, I don't care who you are... <thumbsup>
  19. What was the brand of ammo you were running through it? Have any pics of the broken extractor?
  20. People that build these .308 ARs need to understand - not aimed at you in any way, too - that the VLTOR A5 system is only for 5.56 ARs, and it's not gonna work with the .308 ARs until someone makes a specific, custom buffer for a ".308 VLTOR A5" setup. In terms of 5.56 parts, that VLTOR A5 buffer isn't a carbine-length buffer, and it's not a rifle-length buffer - it's in between, and weighted differently (3 different weights possible). <thumbsup>
  21. Once I get this rebuilt, it'll be ridden a few times, but it's main purpose in life is to hit the dunes, and crush people on the drag runs up the sand hills. After Thanksgiving this year (my main vacation every year), I'll have plenty of video of it doing it's job. ;D <thumbsup> I'm DAMN tempted to street-legal it. Down here in AZ, you can literally steet-legal just about anything (quads, side-by-sides, etc.). 2-stroke dirtbikes are no exception. Toss a set of 17" supermoto wheels on it, one mirror, horn, lighted license plate light, and a head and tail/brake light, and it's legal on any non-highway AZ road... <laughs> I would beat some sportbike ASS with that beast... <lmao>
  22. Excellent piece of equipment from them - works very, very well. <thumbsup> I wrote a little about it in this thread: http://308ar.com/forum/battle-arms-development/battle-arms-develpment-bad-dbm/ UPDATE - I could have sworn I updated that thread on the Rem 700. I put the 51t Brakeout on that rifle. I'll get it updated soon... :-[
  23. I know, brother! - I'm happy as hell that I even found this beast - ripping it all down is the fun part... ;D
  24. Noveske.
  25. I'll have it all stripped down tomorrow, engine out and split, and check everything out. Full engine gasket set already on the way, probaby a piston kit, definitely crank bearings and seals (because it'll be apart, might as well start new). Should have the engine back in it by the end of the week. Next week will be new plastics and full seat, back to OEM look for 1999. The 1998 radiator shrouds are no longer available, so it'll have to look like this:
