Say no more - that falls under ATF engraving regulations. That's probably why you were turned down by engraving companies, which is what I was originally trying to get you to understand. They either can't do it, or don't want the responsibility of doing it - putting them under ATF scrutiny. You didn't like what I had to say, though. You need to be able to see the forest through the trees, LL. You're ignoring that. By that, you're labeling companies you've tried to deal with, with your logic, as "Anti-Gun." Doesn't have anything to do with Anti-Gun, as much as it deals with company responsibility and liability - how much they're willing to take on - ultimately. That was my original point, with details. FWIW. You might be a "manufacturer," here, but what you're blatantly blowing off is the fact that there are some people here that know alot more about this stuff than you do. My $0.02.

Jimmy, with a good 18" barrel, with the right twist for Sierra Match King 175 grainers, you'll be able to knock the living poop out of steel targets at 1,000 yards, and hear it for personal satisfaction. If you can do it, a properly built .308 AR can easily do it. Easily. <thumbsup> By the way, 1,000 yards and 1,000 meters are quite different. By about another 100 yards. Depending on the scope you choose, it's almost a given that you're gonna need a mount with some elevation (20 MOA or more) built in.

I put the M3 clone on my son's birthday rifle last year. I built the highest quality rifle I could for him, but I'll be damned if I was gonna see him smash up an Aimpoint M3, so I went with the PA M3 clone, in a gen-u-wine Aimpoint QRP mount. BCM lightweight 14.5 pinned upper - only upper I've never built myself, and bought complete, BCM BCG, standard trigger, BAD-ASS in there (of course <thumbsup>), KAC M4 RAS non-floating rail with KAC panels and VFG, Matech rear sight, foliage MOE furniture. The boy really doesn't know what he has in this rifle. :o One day, he'll understand. <thumbsup>

Primary Arms, I think is the one you mean, brother. The PA clone is a 3MOA dot, and it works very, very well, considering what you're paying. I haven't been able to kill one yet, and some have been on rifles for over a year and a half. You're gonna make me go get a camera, ain't ya?... <laughs> I'll be back in a few minutes... EDIT - Here's the ones I'm running the PA mini on. All the ones on the AR platforms are on ADM mounts - damn great mount for a mini red dot. The one on the GSR is just using the base the PA dot comes with. .308 bolt recoil hsan't phased the dot in any way.

Aimpoint T1/H1 now has the option for a 2MOA dot. No longer just a 4MOA-only system. The M3 series you can get with 2 or 4MOA dots. The M4 series is a 2MOA-only series. The PRO optic is a 2MOA-only sight. 2MOA ain't bad, for dot size. The older M2 stuff I was issued was 4MOA-only, and we made it work - we didn't know the diffeence, then. Comparitively, now, 4MOA is one fat, huge dot...

Oh, there's some plans in the works - we stand a chance at converting him to a "Part-Time Southwesterner..." <thumbsup> ;D

Armalite Rifle Receiver Extension, $28.50. Armalite AR10 Rifle Buffer, $17.11. Armalite AR10 Buffer Spring (fits both rifles and carbines), $5.70. You'll need the Rifle Receiver Extension, no matter what - a must have to run that stock. However, I think the parts I listed above are even cheaper than Robo's Spike's Tactical suggestion... <dontknow> <laughs> <lmao>

You'll need .308 AR rifle buffer components to run the PRS stock. Buffer, spring, rifle-length buffer tube. 308-specific parts, not AR-15 parts.

Don't use a centerpunch-anything. Don't do it. Look at the pins, and you're gonna see that one side of the pins is bigger than the other - fat, and not-so-fat, with the pins. On the SKINNY side, you need to drive. NOT on the FAT side. Look at the diameter of the SKINNY side, and pick a punch head that's BIGGER than that pin. I ain't kidding. Use that fat-ass punch, and a really big, heavy hammer (not some roofing hammer), and hit that pin like it took something from you. You might need to hit it 2 or 3 times, but it'll move. Right after it moves, you'll know it, you will. At THAT point, move to a smaller punch, and start driving it more - it still won't be easy. Once you move it a little more, move to the "right-sized" punch to drive it out, and hit it more. You'll waste ALOT less time doing it like I'm saying, and you might just save yourself from a bicep-tear-repair surgery. Don't mess around with small punches, and small hammers, at least not in the initial stages when you're trying to get those taper pins moving. Go big or go home. Anybody telling you anything less either hasn't done it (but they've read about it! ;D) , or they're playing tricks on you. My $0.02. <dontknow>

Maybe you should be asking engraving companies if they can meet the following requirements - doesn't matter one poop if it's for an SBR - this is the minimum that the ATF requires for firearms engraving: What is required by the ATF for SBR engraving? All information was taken from the ATF Publication 5300.4 - section 479.102 " How must firearms be identified?" Any gun manufactured, imported, or made on and after January 30, 2002 must have manufacturer information placed at a minimun depth of .003” with a height no smaller than 1/16”. Maybe, just maybe, THAT is what you should be asking the companies you're contacting for engraving - can they MEET those standards? At the point that then CAN, but REFUSE, then they are "anti-gun." You need to understand what you are asking for, and what you need, before you start jumping a company's ass about being "anti-gun." I don't think you even know what you need, in the first place, when you started this thread. Now you know what the "standards" are.

Doesn't have poop to do with SBR engraving, brother, not in the least. It has everything to do with firearms engraving, though, and that is directly my point. SBR engraving was my example, because the ATF has very, very specific rules for engraving firearms - the most common firearms engraved are SBRs. You're not talking about "anti-gun" engravers, when you're looking for trophy engraving, are you? I hope you can smell what I was spreadin'. It's the same thing, here. If you want anything engraved on a firearm, look at the companies that engrave SBRs - they legally do it right. You're welcome, for giving you the second company, that does it right.

The "EOTech 510" is a series of optics, not a specific optic. You'll need to specifiy which one you're talking about, here. In the 510 series, you have the 512, 516, and 517. There are differences on those specific optics. Which one are you looking at?

FINISHED! Well, almost... Here's how everything went down. There's a very specific reason for this build. However, my buddy's little sister is visiting for the summer - she's 16, by the way, so leave the comments inside your mellon, and not on the board... You know where I'm going. I'm just sayin'... :bat: At any rate, I've converted my buddy to a full-on BRD cannibal - it's so bad, his wife has BRD now, and she's quite the Pistolero these days. Well, when his Mom and sister come into town, they've been converted, as well - we always hit the rage a few times each visit. His little sister obviously noticed the pink parts showing up, and she immediately "possessed" the rifle as "hers." It's "hers" now. They were flying back to NC on Tuesday, and I was already in receipt of all my parts orders, minus that one thing - the rail. Turns out, the rail was going to be delivered on Tuesday... Problem... :o Katie was convinced that she was going to shoot this thing, so we went to the range with it "unfinished." It was fully shoot-able without a handguard, off a rest, so we took the thing out and shot it Tuesday morning at 8am. I had to get her back to the house with enough time to "scrub the gunshot residue" off... <laughs> ...and still leave for the airport, by 11:30... <lmao> Honestly, she's an awesome kid, and this was my evil plan to keep her here for the rest of the summer. If she missed that flight because of a "swab test for explosives," she would have been here in AZ for a hell of a long time... ;D "Mom" didn't think this was a good plan... <dontknow> We shot it, zeroed iron sights, zeroed the red dot, all without the handguard at all...
