  1. Not much of a difference as far as .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO primers, as far as hardness and necessary strike force to initiate them (AR-15 stuff). There's a significant difference in that between commercial .308 Win primers and hardened military primers in the 7.62 NATO rounds. Might not be too much of an issue with US-produced 7.62 NATO rounds, but the hardened primers on 7.62 NATO produced in so many other countries varies greatly. Heavier hammers and stiffer springs are the answer to that, and it's common in the giant variance based on the rounds from other countries. If you don't shoot surplus 7.62 ammo from foreign countries (and only shoot .308 Win rounds or US NATO rounds), then you really don't need to worry about whether you're using an AR-15 trigger or one specific to a .308 AR. <thumbsup>
  2. Jgun, you in a ban state, where you have to use an old 10-rounder or something in your .308?
  3. Eh, it'll buff right out - with the proper tools... <lmao> You have the sickness, brother. ;D
  4. <laughs> <lmao> You go, man... I've been kicking the idea around of building a .45ACP AR platform. We'll see what happens. I had a new shipment of gas tube roll pins show up, so something is gettin' built... :o
  5. It's going down the shytter like the rest of the morals and values of this country. Common Sense was the first casualty, I think. Integrity, Honesty and Intestinal Fortitude were close runners up. They're all damn near extinct in this country anymore... :-[
  6. Fulton Armory is having a President's Day Sale - 5% off all rifles, barreled actions, complete uppers and lowers, and ammo, then 10% off everything else, according to their website. Sale ends Monday night, February 20th, at midnight EST. Add it to your cart and checkout before then, and you're good. <thumbsup> Click it to see it: http://www.fulton-armory.com/
  7. TM products are fantastic for the DIY-kinda person. The jigs are great. <thumbsup>
  8. I wouldn't mind that one at all! ;D You know, in a way, it was a woman - the psychosis of a woman was the reason for the cross-country move, so I could get away! <laughs>
  9. Modern chambers, be it .308 Win or 7.62 x 51, will be fine with either ammo.
  10. Didn't want anyone to think I abondoned this project - not in the least! A cross-country move got in my way, and things are finally starting to settle down a little after that one. Just finished the build into an "AR pistol" this weekend, and as soon as I can get the ATF paperwork together and signed by the Chief LEO in town, it will be off to ATF headquarters for the SBR lagalization processing. Here's how she sits right now:
  11. Great looking combo - that does look nice, just like that. <thumbsup>
  12. Larry, I like the design - very good job. I'd definitely be happy picking a couple of these up. .308 forging and AR15 forging comparo:

  14. The 16" midlength barrel on my billet build was from Nordic Components, built for them by Wilson. It's a very, very nice barrel, and a tack driver. SS, that thing will be a shooter. <thumbsup>
  15. I check every build, and I got lucky on the .308 build. I don't have .308 gauges, but right when I finished it all up, a .308 owner on ARFCOM offered up gauges for free use. He's on here as Cabinetman - Rome, thank you again. <thumbsup> I was the first one to take him up on the offer, and the gauges were then sent all over the US, to more than 25 members if I remember right. On that one, when I had the gauges, I checked the new .308 semi build, and my old .308 bolt gun. Glad I had them. Shooting a new factory gun for the first time is one thing - pulling the trigger the first time on a self-build, not hitting it with gauges first - it's a little bit of pucker factor. You hope (and pray) everything is gonna go right, and it usually does. What if it didn't that time, though? :o
  16. That is one nice looking barrel - good stuff. <thumbsup>
  17. I heard you were gonna bring that one out... ;D
  18. If my tax return fully covers what I want to pick up, you'll be shocked. <thumbsup> 8) I'll be sayin "eff me" to myself... :o
  19. The first step... is admitting that you have a problem... <lmao> <laughs> <thumbsup> Tell me, Drew - did you feel me perched up there on your shoulder today?... <dontknow> <lmao>
  20. Heavy buffers cut down on felt recoil a little, increase bolt lock time in the barrel extension, and decrease "bolt bounce" after the action cycles. Read this link from Vuurwapen Blog, then check the vid link below it: http://vuurwapenblog.com/2010/07/28/ar15function/
  21. This is nice... <thumbsup>
  22. I'd have to go with the OBR. If I ever buy a complete .308 semi (not build one from parts), it's gonna be that one.
  23. ^^^ <lmao> <laughs> "affliction" - that's what that is... :o ;D
  24. POF is in Glendale, AZ... Been there. <thumbsup>
  25. Yeah... that was me. Several times... :o <laughs>
