  1. If you're looking at cross-breeding with aftermarket parts, I'd advise not going with the RRA gun. There's so many little things that are different from the two "basic" types that you'll have a hard time finding aftermarket support for it. My $0.02. Welcome aboard, by the way... ;D
  2. Mega machine is right up the road from you, man - they're in Tumwater, WA. Might be worth the trip to just go up there, stop in, chit-chat... and see what kinda deal you can get FTF.
  3. VERY nice looking stripped upper, SS! <thumbsup>
  4. I've got a Kimber BP Ten II double stack .45, and I got lucky on factory mags about a year ago - nailed 4 of them for $60. :o Doesn't help you much, but it's still a fond memory, just seeing those things sitting there for $15 per... SNATCH!!! ;D
  5. I posted that up here somewhere...
  6. HERE HERE!!! Cheers to you for passing that on! Excellent points, all of them. <thumbsup>
  7. Yeah, this kinda stuff gets me worked up. I did get my bag of 5 gas tube roll pins in today, so that makes me feel better... <laughs>
  8. This bothers me, but I'm not privy to the law of it all. Seems like they sent shipments from their own company in the US to their own company in the UK. The shady way of doing it bugs me, but it's within the company. WHAT "international location?" And without prior permission. Okay, no license or permission. Within the parent company and subordinate company... Really? "Around the world?" Okay, so that's what these LE Agencies are trying to prevent, but was SDI "diverting firearms and firearm components around the world?" Or, within their own company?... News Media Sensationalism. "Elsewhere" WHERE? This whole thing stinks. Those guys doing shady chit is gonna bite them in the arse - that was stupid. This whole thing is stupid, really... :o
  9. ^^^ <lmao>
  10. Welcome aboard, man. <thumbsup>
  11. Found out some more info:
  12. That sucks, and it's very surprising - Sabre Defense isn't a "shady" company in the least. Shocking. :o I'm wondering if this didn't have something to do with them working on parts or pieces for the L129A1 (the LMT MWS) for the Brits, but not having the proper "clearances" or "licenses" to do so... <dontknow>
  13. Beretta completely knocked it outta the park with that one. Far out of the park. I knew there was some reason I never went after an ACR - and this would definitely be worth waiting for. Sweet. <thumbsup>
  14. Exact same opinion - only seen it twice, and never, ever in person, on any AR in any caliber. That ain't right, no matter how they try to sugarcoat it. >:(
  15. That's pretty damn funny, right there!... ;D <thumbsup>
  16. Read this one: http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/topic,401.msg2699.html#msg2699 Info: http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/topic,54.msg193.html#msg193 http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/topic,943.msg6323.html#msg6323 http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/topic,275.msg1557.html#msg1557 Tough one to answer, honestly. research is the best bet, and here's the section to read up on: http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html Info on cleaning: http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/board,43.0.html Welcome aboard, man. Ask away, someone will jump in and help - not always right away, but usually within a few days. There's typically somebody here that knows almost every aspect about any possible topic, often from experience, and it's not just one person. The collective experience is pretty vast. Everybody here works together quite well. <thumbsup>
  17. Mesa Tactical makes great shotgun parts, man - that looks nice! <thumbsup>
  18. That's some pretty amazing accuracy - both the rifle and the shooter would have to be up to that, in a big way. I don't think there are many people that could put a 1st round shot out at that range and hit something that small. Just sayin'...
  19. Ugh. Good game, but painful to watch. Damnit... >:(
  20. Pimp Daddy Drew and his Posse of Digital Biotches... <lmao> <thumbsup> <munch>
  21. Or the barrel extension. Use the tip of the firing pin to push the retaining pin out, and the extractor will drop right off the top of the bolt. Push the extractor inward with your thumb while pushing it's retaining pin out.
  22. The info I posted (3rd post in this thread) came directly from a DPMS employee. Everything in italics is a direct quote from them. The numbers given and the way to measure is how they say to do it - but I would like to read the other way you've mentioned. The plot thickens... <laughs>
  23. Go, No-Go, and Field? Those are the 3. On a semi-auto, lock the bolt to the rear when you're inserting the gauges, but don't ever use the bolt release to close the bolt on the gauge being tested. Ride that bolt forward slowly until it contacts the gauge. Use your thumb on the bolt carrier to seat the bolt onto the gauge/in the chamber. Go should close, No-Go shouldn't close. If the No-Go DOES close, use the Field gauge. If your rifle closes on the Field gauge, you need some professional armorer help. Typically, Go and No-Go are the ones used, unless you're working with/testing an in-service weapon, militarily speaking.
  24. I feel the same way - there will always be some steak on the grill and a rack of beer waiting for him if he heads my way. Oh, and local range tour, of course, firearms and ammo provided. Hell of a good guy. <thumbsup>
  25. Save that thing, brother - that's a rifle seed for another project down the road... <lmao> I just ordered 5 more gas tube roll pins last night... ;D <munch>
