Hit the range today - great weather, mild wind, almost empty range as far as people go. I'll get more details up in a separate thread, but here's the stuff to occupy the mind. ;D Shot 13 different kinds of .308 match ammo - I don't even know what the stuff is, honestly. That's another story altogether, and one that will probably come out in the separate thread. Target numbers match the number that was on the bag of ammo I received. I shot like poo today with the .308. >:( Shot the Spike's billet build today, also. Took it out for barrel breakin last week, and initial zero of the backup sights and DMS-1 at 25 yards. Today I rezeroed at 50 yards (both sets). I'll take it back out again and zero the scope at 100, but leave the backup sights zerod for 50. Here's 50 yards on the scope: More details later. <thumbsup>

Just tell them it's a "phased operation" you're working on. If they see you show up with a big black rifle, that's their cue to RUN. <lmao> <laughs>
-
You have no idea how relieved I was to read that - and know I'm not the only one this seriously afflicted... <lmao> Is the phosphate-coat rough on that one? Some brands are, and I wondered about this one.

Probably a good thing that there's no chance of finding a Mega Monolithic .308 set yet. There's no way I'd be able to resist that one, sitting on a shelf or hanging on a wall. No way. <dontknow> I threw an edit into the SBR thread for you, but I don't think you caught it. <thumbsup>

Good luck, brother! Whatever it is that you bring back - it will be sweet! Impulse shopping is the BEST! <thumbsup> <munch>

Bushmaster .338 Lapua Magnum MCR : Semi-Auto .338 Lapua Magnum
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in Black Rifles
Oooooooh, that's not good. :o Especially with their low, low introductory price of $499 for the brand new Mega billet .308 matched upper and lower set. Did I say that out loud?... ;D -
Bushmaster .338 Lapua Magnum MCR : Semi-Auto .338 Lapua Magnum
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in Black Rifles
Yes, and Yes... <laughs> I want that Bad News, well, pretty bad. The pricetag spooked me, at $5k. Then I handled the 98B bolt gun, with the same pricetag. I gave in and just know that they cost that much. Now, I don't know which way to go - but I'm pretty sure it's down the road of "semi." ;D I know for a fact that you're torturing me with the links - so I fight back with the sweet Mega Monolithic stuff... <lmao> -
I thought about sending out the upper, lower, and rail together to US Annodizing. Decided against it. I'll be honest - I went FDE again. This one is getting painted... <thumbsup> ;D By the way, I'm headed back out to the range tomorrow to start on the .308 shooting. I should be able to finish up all the stuff with the semi, and have some targets for you. <thumbsup>

So, first part is on order, but kinda out of order... <dontknow> Tomorrow, the stripped upper and lower will be on order. That makes more sense, then I can get the serial number on the Form 1 and get it out of here... Looks like I'll have a few months to gather the parts. Everything is already in two website shopping carts, just awaiting checkout, so we'll see how this goes. ;D My giant dilemna was color, believe it or not. Another FDE gun, or leave this one all black? It'll be dependable, solid, but not pure top-shelf parts - GOOD parts, but nothing that anybody would look at and say "Holy POO, dude!!! How much is IN that thing?!" :o Won't be anything like that... but it'll be nice. Here's the big stuff: 10" rail, BCM 11.5" carbine-gas barrel, BCM BCG, a slew of MagPul stuff, and another EoTech 512. YHM stainless suppressor, down the road. That's it, in a nutshell. I mocked it all up in PimpMyGun, and here are the combos that came back out...

Bushmaster .338 Lapua Magnum MCR : Semi-Auto .338 Lapua Magnum
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in Black Rifles
You KNOW I did, too... :o <lmao> Bushmaster, of all the manufacturers, too. Makes sense, with the Cobb connection - I'd completely forgotten about that tie, inside the monster that is Cerberus. The statement that bugged me most? This one: - MSRP on the gun would be approx. $5,000 USD, if it were to go into production. Personally, I'd have to give my own money to Only Long Range in that case. <dontknow> -
I'm jealous, Drew!!! The pup looks ready to do the fishing for you! <thumbsup> Looks like a very nice, relaxing time. That's always good. 8)

Armalite AR-10 in .338 Federal
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
Right on! Now we've got Ammo Guide right here making deliveries! ;D Welcome aboard, man! -
I'll bet that barrel will put a 147 grain bullet WAY down range. Very Accurately. <thumbsup> I'm curious to see what it does with the 168 grain projectiles. Probably still very good.

Mega Machine .308 upper and lower

If he says it'll work, then it will. <thumbsup> I'd be willing to bet that he's the most experienced gunsmith/builder in the country for .308 Win autoloaders.

This idiot has a WHOLE LOT of problems then: Henigan disagrees. "They clearly were used as military guns, and the fact that they likely can take high-capacity magazines makes them a special safety concern," he said. If he views them as a "special safety concern" just because of the hi-cap magazines, then that just tells you how he views every firearm that's not a revolver or breach-load shotgun... Some people... >:(

Battle Arms Development - Ambidextrous Safety
98Z5V replied to reelgator's topic in General Discussion
About 7 or 8 topics down, in this section, I put up a small initial impression of it when I received mine: http://308ar.com/forum/index.php/board,20.0.html Actually shot with it yesterday, and I like it very, very much. It's a world of difference in manipulating the safety, and you can tell it right away. Saving up for more of them now, for the rest of the ARs in the stockpile. <thumbsup> -
That's strange - I thought he only did the 20" and 22" stainless barrels in 1:12 twist. Will he take it back if the one you have doesn't stabilize the bullet weight you want or shoot most?
-
We're getting pretty close to the target of "25 for sure" for the attempt at a Group Buy - but we might need to revisit this and see how many are still committed now. I'm still in for another one. <thumbsup>
-
You are gonna LOVE that shotgun! <thumbsup> Watch prices, because they've gone up. I know Mossberg has been raising their MSRP in that gun regularly. I picked up mine last October (from a local Dick's Sporting Goods store) for $615, and MSRP was $700 then. MSRP when it was first released was $667. I think it's up to $750 or more now. Factor that in when you find one, because the price keeps changing.

Matt, I'll start renting - but I need you to be my pimp... <lmao> :o

Counter Sniper Military Optical Gunsite Corp.
98Z5V replied to SWATSniper's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
Dark Ops Holdings is who owns the Counter Sniper company... Dark Ops has the knives, scopes, and flashlights - all three companies. <thumbsup> -
Yep, for the most part. Superlight hammer springs might be the way to go, especially if you're shooting mil-surp ammo, though. <thumbsup> BIG EDIT!!! Meant to say: Superlight hammer springs might NOT be the way to go, especially if you're shooting mil-surp ammo, though. Hope you didn't pick up a trigger with super light hammer springs, based from what I said - if so, I'll buy it from you for the hassle, and put it in one of my 5.56 guns. <dontknow> <thumbsup>

Dayum, get better SWshooter - take your pain meds, man. <thumbsup> That junk helps. ;D
