These cartridges (.260 Rem and 6.5C) only lose about 25fps per inch of barrel. I'm right at 2650fps on my 20" .260 Rem gun. Even for a 16", that should be about 100fps less, and come in somewhere around 2550fps, with a 14" at 150fps less, around 2500fps. I've never seen anything else, system-wise, that would affect muzzle velocity, other than barrel length differences, given a particular load. Even if that thing is rough, internally, that only affects cycling, not firing. Can you try these 3 types of ammo at 100 yards, and see if the group sizes drop to half of what you're getting now, at 200? That 140 FGMM was looking promising, except for that lower left shot, at least as far as height of group, under 2" (minus that lower left shot). Windage was wide, but group height looked decent. I have almost 600 rounds of NEXUS match .260 Rem ammo to test out, loaded with 130gr Bergers. It's the only factory ammo this gun has ever digested. I shot a box of 20 already, and it's impressive, but wouldn't cycle the gun. After that, the gas port diameter went from 0.070" up to 0.081". Retest coming, now, along with several of my other handloads that were good, but didn't cycle it, either.

I let this insult go months ago, but I'm here to revisit it. I waited to answer this one, Raven. Yeah, you're right - I'm a "Fat Jagoff" according to you... This is me, siphoning brass on the range shoot, not last year, but the year before. I'm pretty far from a "Fat Jagoff", you bag of shiit. This is me... Well documented from a shoot-get-together here, and the pic didn't come from me - it was taken of me, by another. Didn't even know the pic was being taken, so I'm not "flexing" or anything for the camera... I was talking on the phone to a local, when that pic went down... You got Traps like that? Fuk, I didn't know that I had traps like that, until someone posted the pic. You wanna wrestle? I'll tie you in a knot, in 10 seconds. I'm pretty well-versed in battling PEOPLE. Not bad at it, either. Get knocked out a few times, and it makes you get better, and I got better. At any rate, I'm HERE for you, when you want to sling insults. I'm much better, face to face, though. I'm just ME. I may not be THE BEAST, but I'll tell you right now that I am A BEAST. When challenged, I will defeat whatever faces me. I'll either kill it or eat it. Maybe I am THE BEAST, based from my mentality? I will not fail. Bring whatever you have. You wanna toss anymore personal insults at me, you just let me know. I'm here for you. Waiting. You Fat Jagoff...

Move that scope forward, until the eyepiece is about even with the back of the upper receiver. It's too far back, as it is now. It's high as hell, too - your height-over-bore has to be 3" or more - the mount is too high for this rifle and scope combo. That's my $0.02 on it. Welcome aboard.

7 3/4" that you're claiming is 7 12/16"... Or more, as you state... You have those, that you've stated, and you measured them. Is that what you're stating here?... I can pile up 5 or 6 VLTORs, and give you different numbers. For a fact. All my VLTORS are dead-nuts right at 7 5/8" internal depth, too. Every one. LaRue isn't gonna fuk up an internal dimension, but I'll order one just to confirm. POF is proprietary, completely, so what they do doesn't pertain to any AR-10 spec that's out there, nor could it be accountable to one. I think you need to get your REAL measuring glasses on, for those, or re-think what you're using to measure. I can definitely tell you that your VLTOR numbers that you've measured, are a problem with what you're using to measure. That is NOT accurate for a VLTOR extension. You boned something up when you checked those. Fact. VLTOR would LOVE to hear about this, and your long internal-depth measurements. They would send you replacement parts RIGHT AWAY, and they'd find out what happened, on your "long" extensions. VLTOR pioneered this, for the US Marine Corps. They did it, to make a reliable "collapsible stock system" so US Marines could run a collapsible stock on the M16A4, using the original AR-10 Carbine receiver extension, and a special-length buffer, built by them - to make M16A4s work, with a collapsible stock. VLTOR doesn't fuk this up. They were the pioneers in this. They have a very solid government contract for those parts, and those exact dimensions. BY following the original Armalite AR-10 platform, AR-10 Carbine Receiver Extension specs (7 5/8" internal depth), VLTOR made a special buffer-length to allow that AR-10 extension to work with the AR15 - most specifically, the USMC M16A4 rifles. You need to check what you're measuring with...

That's a good scope right there, brother. I have one of them, and wish I had more. It's one of the few that they do in mils, and I like it. If you DON'T end up liking it - lemme know. I'll take it, and pay you for it.

That's awesome, brother! I cooked for my Mom last Sunday - then took her to the airport Wednesday. Snowbirds, so headed back to Ohio for the summer. Just when things are looking up in AZ, they had to head back. They'll be back this November.

You can't go wrong with either one of those barrels. Looking forward to your intro.

I shaken Doc's hand, and hugged him. His hands are normal... But now, I want to see him in sandals...

The A-10 is the most badass Direct Ground Attack Fixed Wing Aircraft ever devised and made. We've had Dem President's trying to get rid of them for many Dem-President-Terms now, and if they ever rid it from the flying inventory, that's a very great mistake. It's a phenomenal Close Air Support option for guys-on-the-ground, rivaled by none in many circumstances. The only thing we have that even comes close is the AC-130, H or U models. A-10s should live forever, damn the maintenance costs. You can't put a cost on the lives that they save. Thanks for posting that one...

And, that 45-70 Kicks Like a Mule!!! So that's sayin' something, Larry!... And, I agree with you - I'll take the 45-70 for a "day of shooting" over @sketch's .458 SOCOM with the fuckin' Shockwave Blade stabilizer...

Do you have a list of these companies that are doing this? And the internal depth measurements from them? PSA had a run where they were making the .308AR Carbine extensions 8.000" internal depth, and those were garbage. Massive lower receiver damage, from BCG impact.

Think about Ernie every time I see .22LR ammo on the shelf - or I DON'T SEE the .22LR ammo on the shelves... What an awesome guy. We used to conspire against Drew, in some PMs... How to part Drew from his money... ^^^ Ernie was a MASTER at that, too - on way more than one occasion...

Sooooo.... How many do you have?... @AZMan has a cat that has 7 toes on each front paw. With claws. That's a BAAAAAD cat, right there.

This is the Necro-post, 11 hours ago, that brought all this back up... Nothing to do with the original poster, except for rail mis-match.

In the original post yes - all this new stuff is for the guy that just reawakened this thread 11 hours ago...

@shepp, the little Burrowing Owl girl was out tonight on my way home from work - I always look now, on that corner. I made the corner and pulled the car up a little, grabbed the camera and walked back - across the street from her. I had to zoom in, and couldn't tell if I got a decent pic,but it was alright. I decided to walk out into the street and try it again, but that was a No-Go - she started to move. Got back in the car, and pulled the car around - she stands there when cars are making that turn, all the time... She didn't like me sitting there, and popped up off the ground... She only flew about 20 feet away, so I zoomed in again, and got her Mean-Muggin' me...

0.060" is the offset difference between DPMS High and DPMS Low. That's exactly what this is, here. No pics needed. Aero Precision is all DPMS High pattern, so it looks like the S&W M&P-10 is a DPMS Low pattern. You need a handguard that's based on DPMS Low profile - and the Aero isn't. Check it:

The Secret Ingredient in these barrel builds is to... punch that pin out and get rid of it. That was a Sig thing, to cure a problem that didn't even exist in the first place... You had to search around for an extractor that would work with it - punch it out, run a standard extractor, zero issues.

Alright, I can't help it. One more beer before closing, and it's LEO again. Leo is SO BADASS, he can even make Adele a rock legend. I'm out after this one, brothers.

^^^ Wow! Grouchy edited his official original video, and replaced it with what I posted about. It's all 'Die Motherfucker Die"... but that's gone. Here's his original one, that someone saved: It's live, and real...
