Geissele Reaction Rod, all the way. They make 2 of them, small-frame ARs and large-frame ARs. Only way to go. There are others out there, copies, some good, some not. When you start looking at the cost of a real Reaction Rod, factor in how many guns you think you're gonna build. Cost-to-benefit ratio. I make alot of guns for myself, and for friends, and I let my local Gun Pusher use my large-frame Reaction Rod - I go get it back from him when I need to assemble one of my own. The cheapest I'd go would be the copy that Brownells makes. Stay away from aluminum ones, unless it's a one-time build.

Depends on the torque setting you're going for, but basically, Yes, you can do that. I would definitely pad them, even aluminum angle will work, no bare vise jaws. When you're installing a barrel that way, the torque forces of clockwise rotation are working on the solid side of the upper receiver. You can't take a barrel off, in that manner - upper sandwiched in the vise jaws - because the counter-clockwise torque is acting on the weak side of the receiver - the bigass hole of the ejection port... You'll crack the upper receiver. Ask me how I know that tidbit of information...

Should be fine. I run regular .308 Win BCGs in my .260 Rem gas guns, so similar pressures and identical projectile - both those regular BCGs do just fine.

That's perfect for a 20" rifle gas 6.5, with the 0.875" journal. It'll run like a Swiss watch.

You won't have to worry about the gas port diameter on that barrel, not from BA. They have their shiit together, in a pretty tight bag.

Battle Arms Development has pivot and takedown pins that work perfectly, and come with the detents and springs. Their bolt catch also works with the M5s, but don't come with the detent and spring. Their BAD-ASS PRO 60* safety is the best on the market, comes with detent and spring. After that, you're complete, minus whatever trigger you desire, grip as well, and a bolt catch detent and spring, and whatever you want to run for a mag catch - any AR15 mag catch will work. Your bolt catch is threaded, and the allen bolt should be in the lower already. On your M5 upper, the forward assist is threaded, and the bolt will be in there.

Oh, no you didn't...

Pretty sure the M5 upper is DPMS Low profile... There are many better ways to do the lower parts kit, as well.

Everything above is true. ^^^ Was just at the reloading supply shop this morning, and they had 5000-rd cases of Eley Match-something for $100 below cost. I haven't shot it, don't know if my gun would like it, and it's still a 5k-rd case... That's alot of $$$...

I'll get back into this topic later, but I built a pretty good 10/22 gun to use in NRL-22 matches, and more specifically, the 22X matches - which are crazier than standard matches. My build definitely prefers the SK Long Range Rifle Match ammo. Just great. Because it ain't cheap, for .22LR. Just my luck. Shot it about 3 weeks ago in a match - NRL 22 X match - smoked the 248 yard targets, and good. I'll get more into the gun later in this thread. It's a tack-driver.
