survivalshop
This is new & different . LabRadar is finally coming! Production is under way! We will be receiving one of the first units from the initial run for testing and evaluation next month - stay tuned for a review article. And we expect our first big shipment in May. Place a Pre-Order today at the LRH Store to make sure you get one. For more information and to place a Pre-Order - CLICK HERE. Labradar is the simplest, most accurate system available for measuring bullet velocity. Simply place the unit near the shooter and turn it on! LabRadar is not actually a chronograph at all, but rather an extremely accurate Doppler Radar. Doppler Radar has been used by defense agencies and ballistic laboratories for many years for research and development of all sorts of projectiles, but the units were bulky and extremely expensive. The manufacturer of LabRadar has been an industry leader in Doppler Radar for over 20 years and is proud to offer the same outstanding technology in a compact, affordable and easy to use package. planeflyer21
That nifty orange case better be bullet-proof for $559.
Microgunner
The case is $39.95. The radar itself is $559.
392heminut
That nifty orange case better be bullet-proof for $559. You got THAT right! Radar HAS to be parallel with the bullet path to get an accurate reading. If it's anywhere off to the side it will show a slower velocity than what the bullet is actually traveling. If it's at a 90 degree angle to the bullet path it will actually show zero! Obviously the radar can't be right in the path of the bullet but the closer to that position, the closer the reading will be to actual velocity. NTXshooter
I'll stick with my Magnetospeed. I carry enough gear to the range without having to carry a tripod and accessories. It is also easier on the pocketbook.

Not sure if it being a Doppler Radar would make a difference in placement .

392heminut
Yup, my statement is directly applicable to Doppler radar. Doppler radar is what is used in traffic radar and as far as I know, any other speed clocking radar. I was certified as an instructor Doppler radar back in the 80's and as far as I know, the principle hasn't changed. <thumbsup> Edited February 18, 2015 by 392heminut
DNP
Im gonna go out on a limb and say yeah...technology has changed a little since the 80's. I'm saying this through a handheld supercomputer wirelessly comunicating through a handful of different devices making words appear on a magic screen in your basements milliseconds after I push post......... 392heminut
Im gonna go out on a limb and say yeah...technology has changed a little since the 80's. The Doppler principle hasn't though. it's kind of like the laws of physics.

survivalshop
I just love how these threads change directions <lmao> Ya, i'll bet the technology has changed since the 80's , if anything in how information is gathered from the Radar . It would be interesting to find out . Maybe from someone that is trained with the technology in the year 2015 <laughs>
planeflyer21
Change directions?! Down and basements have always been the same direction.
DNP
The Doppler principle hasn't though. it's kind of like the laws of physics. Agreed, but the technology behind it has changed completely. Sensors and computing strength have gotten a smidge better. I haven't been trained on Doppler, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once. Someone might want to call these guys up and tell them that their $600 toy isn't going to work. "Shut her down boys...your claims are unpossible!" <lmao> Edited February 19, 2015 by DNP
392heminut
I didn't say it wouldn't work, I said the further away from the bullet path it was the less accurate it would be. Hence the agreement that it better have a good case because you would need to shoot right above it for the most accurate reading.
survivalshop
That magnetic one, that straps to the barrel has to be close to bullet path & I shoot about 2-3 " over my screens , but ya , you have to be careful . I thought its as good of an idea ,as is the Magnetic one , which has got some good reviews . This thing is too new & someone some where will blow the stink off it , to see how it works . Too expensive for me as is the Magnetic one , It doesn't take me long to set up my screens & if I break this Chrono , I will look into one of the two . I do a lot of Chrono testing anymore . ridurall
I've been watching this since last fall and put my name on the list as soon as they started talking about it. Now after a bunch of delays I'm kind of glad I didn't put a bunch of money up front. I would be pretty mad if they had cashed my check and then pulled an 8 to 10 month delay in shipping. I don't know what the hang up is about but I love the idea. I'm having a lot of fun shooting my 50 BMG and almost sprung for the MagnetoSpeed V3 Ballistic Chronograph but found out that it wouldn't work with the muzzle brake on my 50 BMG. So since then I've been relying on my Chrony Gama Model with the printer. It has not given me any problems but I still like the idea behind the Labradar if they get off their butt and work out the production problems.
