Radar HAS to be parallel with the bullet path to get an accurate reading. If it's anywhere off to the side it will show a slower velocity than what the bullet is actually traveling. If it's at a 90 degree angle to the bullet path it will actually show zero! Obviously the radar can't be right in the path of the bullet but the closer to that position, the closer the reading will be to actual velocity.

Doppler radar is what is used in traffic radar and as far as I know, any other speed clocking radar. It would be interesting to find out . Maybe from someone that is trained with the technology in the year 2015 <laughs>

Agreed, but the technology behind it has changed completely. Sensors and computing strength have gotten a smidge better. I haven't been trained on Doppler, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once. 392heminut Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 I didn't say it wouldn't work, I said the further away from the bullet path it was the less accurate it would be. Hence the agreement that it better have a good case because you would need to shoot right above it for the most accurate reading.
survivalshop Posted February 19, 2015 Author Report Posted February 19, 2015 That magnetic one, that straps to the barrel has to be close to bullet path & I shoot about 2-3 " over my screens , but ya , you have to be careful . I thought its as good of an idea ,as is the Magnetic one , which has got some good reviews . This thing is too new & someone some where will blow the stink off it , to see how it works . Too expensive for me as is the Magnetic one , It doesn't take me long to set up my screens & if I break this Chrono , I will look into one of the two . I do a lot of Chrono testing anymore .
ridurall Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 I've been watching this since last fall and put my name on the list as soon as they started talking about it. Now after a bunch of delays I'm kind of glad I didn't put a bunch of money up front. I would be pretty mad if they had cashed my check and then pulled an 8 to 10 month delay in shipping. I don't know what the hang up is about but I love the idea. I'm having a lot of fun shooting my 50 BMG and almost sprung for the MagnetoSpeed V3 Ballistic Chronograph but found out that it wouldn't work with the muzzle brake on my 50 BMG. So since then I've been relying on my Chrony Gama Model with the printer. It has not given me any problems but I still like the idea behind the Labradar if they get off their butt and work out the production problems.
