That really sucks! I am always leary about how much I "share" with neighbors exactly because of sheeeit like this!!!

Then again my dog does the scaring most of the time. People say he just looks mean.

I always try to be discreet when moving firearms about.

That was all spoiled with the first AZ shoot in Sierra Vista, after Mike got here...took us half an hour to transfer 4,000 lbs of firearms and ammunition from the trunk of his subcompact to the back of my Ranger.  We did a wheelie to SV.

Fortunately we shot enough ammo that the trip back was uneventful.  Only took us 15 minutes to transfer the remainder back to his car.

Subcompact? Mike drives a mini with heavy duty shocks and struts? Lol.

So I can't help but wonder if he had a trust for his firearms if his investment wouldn't have been protected somewhat.  Wouldn't have helped him personally so much but with a proper trust he could have been temporarily removed as a trustee until the dust settled and avoided outright confiscation. Yet another reason I see to keep all of it in a trust. Even the title 1 stuff.

Am I naive in my thinking on this?

well, he doesn't permanently lose the firearms, they'll be returned once the restraining order gets thrown out or expires. I don't think a trust would have changed that.

Only been in a Mini once. Bobthephotoguy and Tony from UMS along with Ryan our SW_DMS Pres. Car was the 6th one delivered to AZ we got in with 31 miles on it . Abused the little supercharged go-cart all day !

I've preached that point for quite awhile now - for that very reason.   ALL of them need to be on the trust, even the ones that don't fall under the NFA or GCA.  ALL of them.

Tough spot to be in for the department. Neighbor makes a claim he's being threatened,....

1) make a visit and do nothing else....

A) neighbors fight for years, no big deal.

B ) complaining neighbor gets shot....lawsuit follows for lack of action on complaint.

2) make visit to cranky old vet and assess his mental state....

A) he's violent and angry, temporarily remove weapons, face criticism from 2A group

B )seems normal, complaining neighbor is a dick. Leave....refer back to option 1

It sounds like a shitty case, but I don't know this vet and can't give him the benefit just because he is a vet. There are many levels of crazy people and assholes all over the world in some of the most respected positions. Sounds like he is regularly into his neighbor's affairs...and probably well deserved. Just strikes me as odd to call the cops claiming to smell toxic chemicals.

I think we have started blowing the VET thing out of proportion...like it means the guy is above reproach. some of the shittiest people I ever met are vets. also, guy medded out of the navy after 4 years. maybe legit. maybe hurt himself playing volleyball.

just saying...I get the feeling he's a crotchety old bastard calling the city on his neighbor who is working hard at his little landscaping business. I wouldn't rule out the possibility he made the threats.

Vet and neighbor are both dickheads ! Both stuborn cracky @ssholes pissed at everthing and just hate each other. Glendale PD ,possibly the worst PD in the valley has a standing policy to arrest someone to deescalate each situation on all calls for violance { either domestic or neighbors}.

They did wait to get a court order so we can't blame them for doing nothing !

We don't know the whole story. Its not done by any means , until one party moves.

Unfortunately there are many calls that cops get to go to that have no good "side" and they catch the poop end of the stick no matter what they do!

Need to wait and see how it all plays out.

True you guys make valid points I guess this needs to be looked at the same way liberal outlets write to make us look bad with out the whole story, conservative outlets can do the same to make people look good.
