wetncold
10. I’ll vote Democrat because I can’t wait for college football season to be delayed or cancelled because the student athletes are union employees. 9. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe oil company’s profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t. 8. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would. 7. I’ll vote Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it. 6. I’ll vote Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I am also thankful that we have a 911 service that get police to your home in order to identify your body after a home invasion. 5. I’ll vote Democrat because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive and comfy. 4. I’ll vote Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the Social Security from those who paid into it. 3. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe that businesses should NOT be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit. 2. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters. And the Number One reason I’ll vote Democrat is: 1. I’ll vote Democrat because I think that it’s better to pay billions for oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher, fish or frog. DNP
I'll vote democrat because I think America sucks and we should hand our country over to the UN. Maybe the other spineless loser countries will like us better then.
jtallen83
Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of the democrats but thought reading the flip side of this coin was worth a chuckle; "Why would anyone vote Republican? Well, here are 10 reasons. 1. You are a bigot It's true that not all Republicans are bigots. But if you ARE a bigot, the Republican party will be much more your group than the Democratic party. Remember that there are lots of ways to be a bigot: You could be a racist, a homophobe, an Islamophobe, or lots of other things. 2. You like eating, drinking and breathing poison. Many Republicans are calling for or voting for shrinking or eliminating agencies that protect us against poison. They seem to think that the corporations will do the right thing, without any pressure from the government. Uh huh. Read The Jungle. Look at the way Monsanto is hiding facts about Round Up. Look at food safety and outbreaks of E. Coli. Corporations exist to make money. They will do so any way they can. The government needs to stop them from doing so in ways that hurt people. 3. You think the rich don't have enough money The idea that giving more money to rich people (via tax breaks) will help poor people is nonsensical and has been shown wrong time and again in history. Huge tax breaks for the rich (a la George Bush) don't work. 4. You don't support our veterans The Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran's Association (IAVA) rates every member of congress on how well they support our veterans. In the Senate, 9 people got A or A+: All were Democrats. 30 got D or F: 29 Republicans and one Democrat. More on this 5. You like big deficits Since the end of WW II the ratio of debt to GDP for the nation has gone down in 9 administrations (3 Republican and 6 Democratic) and up in 7 administrations (6 Republican and 1 Democratic). The largest increases by this measure were GW Bush's 2nd term; GHW Bush, and Reagan's first term. The largest decreases were the three terms right after the end of WWII (Truman and Eisenhower). The last decrease under a Republican was in Eisenhower's 2nd term source 6. You don't believe in free speech. The American Civil Liberties Union is the premier defender of our civil liberties, including the right to free speech. That's free speech for EVERYONE; from Nazis to Marxists to Fred Phelps to anyone else. They rate politicians, including governors, senators and representatives. 12 people got a 100 rating: All were Democrats. 65 people got a score of less than 10: All were Republicans. Only 6 Democrats got a score under 50 (Joe Donnelly, Michael Ross, Collin Peterson, Joseph Shuler, Mark Critz and David Boren). Only 2 Republicans got scores over 50 (Olympia Snowe and Mark Kirk) Full list 7. You like big government The Republicans like to claim they are against big government. It's a lie. They only object when government helps people. But they are supporters of the Patriot Act; they want the government to say who you can marry; they want the government to forbid abortion; they want the government to be able to spy on you without restraint. Unfortunately, many Democrats agree with them on some of these, but to find opposition to these big government ideas, you have to look to the Democrats. 8. You want government to hurt people, but not help them This is really just a summation of some other points. 9. You are greedy, short sighted and rich You really have to be all three for this to work. If you're rich but not short-sighted, you know that, in the long run, when there is huge income inequality, it leads to things like stock market crashes and revolution, and everyone loses. In a revolution, it is often the rich who lose most. If you're rich but not greedy, you recognize that helping others is a good thing, and that the government assuring that people have a safety net is a good thing as well. 10. You like torture The Democrats don't exactly shine here, but the Republicans are much worse. It was, after all, Dick Cheney who bragged in his memoir about being a war criminal. It was Don Rumsfeld who opined that a problem in Abu Ghraib was that they weren't torturing prisoners enough. And it is mostly Democrats who have objected to torture. Torture is wrong. It's also stupid. It doesn't work. People who are tortured will say ANYTHING (true or not) that they thing their torturers want to hear." http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/09/25/1020037/-Top-10-reasons-to-vote-Republican# Talk about drinking the Kool-Aid <outtahere> .............do they really believe this crap? ?????? shepp
For allthe above reasons I will never join either party. I have a sticker on my work van that says "not a liberal" had a guy at the parts house snidely say "so your a republican then? That's not much better" I just simply replied "nope not either". No offense to anyone here but he was clearly a union worker who follows the beat of that drum and votes the way they tell him to.
blue109
I don't have any stickers on my car, but I always thought it would be funny to print off Monty Brewster stickers around every election. No offense to anyone here but he was clearly a union worker I do not follow, just to follow. In the on going crush against unions here, there are Republicans that were aganist those moves.Crushing the middle class serves no purpose. No offense taken brother.I want to see every American working for a decent wage w/a health & welfare plan regardless of union or nonunion. There is work that needs to be done in the blue collar sector as our infrastruction is crumbling around us.I make no apologies as I am proud to be a union Sheetmetal worker.Let the flaming begin. blue109
I have no doubt a majority of union guys are on the level..just fighting for an honest wage. The problem is the ones you hear about are the guys fleecing the system, making $40/hr for nothing with huge pensions while everyone else scrapes by doing twice the work. It tends to create a little animosity. My bro in law is/was dockworker union in San Francisco. They have a mess at the moment, but for the past decade or so he was making a TON of money. Didn't even have to show up to work to get paid. Couldn't get fired. Would work for 2 hours some days and just go home and still make a full days pay. My jaw would drop when he talked about that crap.
unforgiven
I bust my ass for my money and I will get a pension and it isn't huge for the money I put into it.Also many don't recieve but a handful of checks cause of all the $hit we are exposed to.I wouldn't have what I have if it weren't for organized labor. With us it's no work no pay.No sick days no vacation. It's the job he applied for brother. There are alot of jobs even nonuonion where people make a ton of money and do nothing.I don't knock anyones wages, because thier is someone that will come along and say they will do what you do for less, then someone after that.Working man just wants to give his family a better life. Then you have the situation where you see someone you think is doing nothing and the ass busting part doesn't come to light. Then you have the govenment to is turning into the largest employer of people pushing paper.I have dedicated my life to helping build America.I have also been layedoff and sat. blue109
Nothing against you Rene. I have no doubt you earn every penny, and if I could jump into one of those sham jobs I'd do it in a second! Just pointing out where lots of that union hate comes from. Since you are union you have probably followed the CA mess. My bro went from easy street to not sure if he has a job until he shows up to work every day now. The contract isn't getting renewed, just extended, and there's truckloads of non union guys on standby willing to do the work for half the pay. He's in a rough situation. shepp
I get called a hypocrite a lot because I grew up Union my old man was UAW for 30 years, like you Rene my old man worked hard for his money but there were a lot of stereotypes of the GM workers around town. I know my dad worked hard because he came home wore out every night, and not cuz he went to the bar afterwards. Like its my fault I grew up in a house like that and now have a bad impression. I got a bad impression when I was in trade school when two of the union reps came in and gave their song and dance, to be honest they were two cocky pricks and no way would I want them to rep me. the other bad impression I've had is when I got into Rockford (a strong union town) and get harassed by them because our customer chose to go with our company (most times we're told the companies down there are horrible). Lastly are the sheepol the ones who vote the way they're told and think that if tomorrow unions were abolished we'd automaticly go to slave labor, I've got many friends who are those people and it makese sad. I know your not one of those guys Rene :D Edited July 22, 2015 by shepp
survivalshop
The real Unions got the labor work force where we are today , with respect to SAFETY & wages , but most , if not all ,of the Unions have lost their way along that road ,not the Union workers . It became a political force & when you look at the greaser in charge of the AFL/CIO , I think the Mob is still running them . When , in some State's ,you are required to be forced into being in a Union to work , that's Socialism . Yes you don't have to take that job , but WTF , I'm forced to be in a Union , to work , where is that all of a sudden ,an American way of life ! When you have Corrupt Union officials , telling you who or what to vote for , that's more Socialism , think about it , you have these people telling you whats good for the Union , never mind what may or may not be good for your Country . In the end you ultimately decide , but with what kind of pressure from your peer's & don't say it doesn't happen , I've been in two Unions & I would never be part of another one , job or no job. I have personally seen the multiple unions drive a company with thousands of good paying jobs to another State because of them taking turns striking every other year , its sad & sickening to me . Greed probably had a lot to do with it . Maybe you see it a different way , well stay with it , its your choice , but when the Union goes belly up because they are spending your hard earned wages that are paid for Union Dues' , to the tune of Millions of dollars to the Politician or Political party of their choice & you lose all or part of that great pension you have worked so hard for , there is only one place you can look or blame . The Public sector unions are the real problem, because it directly effects tax's , & will need a bail out to keep them afloat . The Private sector, as with the Ship Yard I saw go south , will not cost me a dime in tax's ,so they can do what ever they want , because its their jobs thats in the balance . I mean no offense to the hard working Union members , but if your a corrupt Union official , eat $hit & die MF. <lmao>
unforgiven
There is corruption in many facest's of life,no one is immune. We had a president of the local like that and I made it my mission to drive him out.I did.My dues get me the benifits that I have.If you don't want to pay dues, then strike out on you'r own to establish you'r wages.Don't ride on my coat tails.Around here even the nonunion are in the $30.00 an hr. range because of unions. The employer would rather pay the wage then give a robust for lack of a better term health & wefare package. Are there problems within my local fuk yea.I go to the meeting and I vote. It's gotten better but needs more work.I'm not here to change anybody's mind about unions. You stay with what you belive and I'll stay with mine. You think unions are the problem,it could'nt be that the corporation just wants to increase the bottom line at the expense of the worker ? You see a union built home and a nonunion home. The price is the same.Only one guy get's the profits.Where we can all share and make some money.Scocialismand communisum seem like the buzz words for the time.Same terms were applied in the early 1900's when a man just wanted to work and survive. The more things change the more they stay the same. That's all from me on this topic.Respectfully
