unforgiven Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Having done quite a bit of crane and some helicopter work rigger and signalman,I am always checking my rigging.Especially with odd shape and uneven weights.Someone here missed something :http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/watch-these-army-humvees-violently-crash-into-the-groun-1772040340 comin in hot.
blue109 Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 For those who have never served....few things make lower enlisted happier than seeing army equipment being catastrophically destroyed, and knowing you won't be getting a statement of charges for it.
MikedaddyH Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 I never thought a Humvee was fast but .... 164 mph is pretty impressive ! Good brakes also ... Stops on a dime.
unforgiven Posted April 21, 2016 Author Report Posted April 21, 2016 It's never the fall...always the sudden stop...

planeflyer21 Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Can't help but wonder if it was the same crew responsible for packing each one of the Hummbers that went splat.
blue109 Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 I'm sure it was. Hohenfels is basically just a huge training area for all the Germany soldiers. Thinking that company has some retraining to do.
jtallen83 Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Wonder if they have to jump with one of their own randomly selected packed chutes like the Riggers did when I was in? That would make them sweat a bit.
82HALO Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Yeah, don't know if they do that anymore either! I did see this happen more than you would believe! Trucks, jeeps, 105 howitzers! One time we saw a tank distroyed when they came in for a hot drop and the chute malfunctioned and it must have tumbled a couple hundred yards!
Frankh252 Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Yeah, that's coming in a little too hot for sure. They didn't teach us how to handle something like that at ComTrain lol

Would love to see one take the plunge.
