mineralman55
Wellllll... we had a heckuva gala Friday night. Good attendance, a lot of fun, and we exceeded our goal to raise $25,000 for advanced brain cancer research! I'll get some pictures posted of the event. Plans are already in the making for an even bigger and better event next year.

mineralman55
We are hosting our 2nd annual 5k fundraiser on March 11. Last year at our first 5k we raised $15k. This year we're hoping to raise $30k. The research we're funding at the Kenneth Peak Center in Houston is truly incredible. Nanotechnology and molecular science is the wave of the future in oncology. mineralman55
We had a great 5k on Saturday. About 300 runners, and we raised over $27,000 for brain cancer research! People had a great time after the race with all the food, beer and camaraderie. The runners loved the course, as they said it was fast. Winning time was 16:04. My knees hurt just thinking about that pace. As soon as we can, we'll get videos and more pics of the event. Last year we donated $50,000 to brain cancer research, and another $2,500 in soccer and Girl Scout scholarships for young women in our parish. We are off to a great start in 2017. http://www.kellykickingcancer.org/give.html http://www.kellykickingcancer.org/

mineralman55
We are continuing our efforts at funding advanced brain cancer research. Our 3rd annual gala is coming up on Aug.25. Ashley Rodrigue, a local TV celebrity agreed to mc for us. We'll have all kinds of food, adult beverages, silent auction items, a band, and the New Orleans SuperFans. It should be a great time. BTW, one of the nanobot projects we're funding is coming to clinical trial this fall. Lab tests on human glioblastoma have been outstandingly effective. We will see. www.kellykickingcancer.org 2017 kkc gala aug 25.pdf Edited August 8, 2017 by mineralman55

mineralman55
Hey guys, today is "Giving Tuesday", celebrated as a day of giving around the world. Since our inception in March 2015, we have donated over $107,000 to advanced brain cancer research. Any donation amount helps. If you donate thru my Facebook page, Facebook will match it dollar for dollar, and today FB will wave their 5.75% processing fee. Double bonus! Help us out. Donate and send this to five friends. It can snowball. Then take a look at our webpage and see the advanced brain cancer research we are supporting. https://www.facebook.com/larry.omahoney http://www.kellykickingcancer.org/ Edited November 28, 2017 by mineralman55
mineralman55
Looking at this thread, I see I forgot to summarize the August gala. We had a good turnout despite competing with Friday night football, school startup fundraisers and the like. The Saints Black & Gold SuperFans were a real hit and got the crowd whipped up. Our 2017 Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship recipient was able to attend and we announced her. Her GS project was to rebuild and rehab a shuttered old-folks' home in her hometown. With young people such as her, we stand a fighting chance to keep the national ship upright and sailing! You can see the pics here. http://www.kellykickingcancer.org/ We did manage to bring in enough to make another $25k donation to the Peak Center for brain cancer research. It was a LOT of work as these things always are.

mineralman55
Hey, this past Tuesday, November 27 was what's become known world-wide as the "Day of Giving". Facebook helped sponsor it by matching any funds that were donated to a non-profit thru their pages. They even waived their usual processing fees (they can afford to.) Kelly Kicking Cancer raised a little over $3,000, so when the check comes in it should be close to $6,000! More ammunition to kill brain cancer! Check it out. https://goo.gl/HT2ymL
mineralman55
Our 3rd annual Kelly Kicking Cancer 5k is coming up on March 10. Our goal this year is 400 runners and beat last year's total of $27k. The research we fund is progressing well. I had a chance to meet with the president and CEO at Houston Methodist last fall. What a gracious man and all-around great guy! He gave me some insight into the research they're doing. A lot of it is "classified", but he did say they had cured some of the most aggressive cancers known to man in "hundreds of large mammals". He just couldn't be more specific. They are making progress. http://kellykickingcancer.org/events

mineralman55
Kelly Kicking Cancer had our 4th annual gala this past week, and it was a big success. We changed the venue to a reception center in town. Food was great, venue was great, energy and participation was great, and we had comedienne Marvin Lee was a hit! He had people rolling on the floor with his routines, and they were all clean, no PC. He's a genius. We raised over $17k that night alone. Many donations came in prior to the event, and still more are coming in. We'll probably get close to $30k from this event for brain cancer research when all is said and done. Marvin is a recurring character on "The Walking Dead", and he auctioned a few items from the set to help us out. We also had a Saints football signed by Drew Brees and Sean Payton which fetched a bunch of $$$. Check out our blog and research pages. www.kellykickingcancer.org
