RANGE REPORT

Ok finally got to shoot my build.

Here a list of the build

Sota arms DPMS 308 18" complete upper with BHW 3 polygon match barrel.

Ares Armor lower i beleive ( bought soo long ago cant remember)

Ares Armor lower parts kit ( i think bought soo long ago)

Geiselle DMR 2 stage trigger

Hexmag FDE adjustable grip

Luth-AR MBA1 FDE stock kit includes buffer, tube and spring.

Leaper UTG new Gen quick detach hi-pro bi-pod ( very well built, very light and very cheap)

10 rd PMAGS

Still waiting on optics

Went bought some pmc ammo to just get some rounds thru her to see how she would run and cycle. Put some iron sights on her till scope is available. That been said only shot at 50 yards since i cant remember the last time i shot thru iron sights ( spoiled with modern technology) . I shot only 40 rounds thru her at 5 at a time then clean barrel per manufacturer. Cycled beautiful, locked back every single time mag was empty. Extracts and ejects spent rounds about 3ft from firing position. No issues what so ever and i know its only 40 rounds but very happy to see no problems out of the gate.

Time to buy some ammo.

First build. I appreciate some you guys for helping out. Thanks

Pics or it didn't happen!:pics-stfu:

That's great news you had a flawless start.  What are you planning for optics?

Well dont have any pics of targets just cause 50 yards away isnt really worth posting anything to write home about. When i get my FFP PRIMARYARMS 6-24x50 308 hud dmr scope mounted and start shooting at 100 yards plus beyond I will definitely post some targets.

Just picked up and zeroed the 4-14 version of that - VERY nice scope!

I shot that same scope at the range. My neighbor has had it for 2 years i believe. First time shooting that scope my neighbor walked me thru the reticle real quick and shooting 300 yards. Was group 3 to 4 inches first time with no practice on his gun. He was shooting much better then that. PRIMARYARMS stuff just works and its great customer service

Awesome build! Can you give me your take on the Hexmag adjustable grip? I'm looking at the Hogue stock and grip, but that Hexmag has really caught my eye.

Hexmag is nice. Its not a soft grip but i like it cause you can have it your way. It has 3 positions. Forward, middle ( stock position) and back. I like it farther back cause i like my finger tip right on the trigger.

Ok gents. Finally got to hit the range today in a really long time ( more then 3 weeks and im withdrawing). So it was horrible shooting today. Definitely not the gun,my groups where complete crap! Extremely windy and i was shaking like a leaf. Shot off my bi-pod. Should have shot off my bag. I like to shoot more of real world situations. Dont use lead sleds. But this what i have to show for.

Outer targets were at 100 yards center target was at 50 yards to sight in a scope I took off my other AR. Still waiting on scope from PA!

The gun now has a little over  70 rounds thru her. Definitely shot some decent ammo and some crap ammo thru her. As of now there is no problems what so ever. Not even a hiccup . Now its time to get some serious range time in :fullauto:

Coulda been a lot worse

Yea it could have definitely been worse.

Everything I shot today was match grade ammo except the PMC 147grs gold.

This build has quite a bit of recoil and its not a light gun at all. My spent casings are landing about 7 to 10 feet away. I think a SLR adjustable gas block is in order and maybe a different brake...

That's NORMAL.  For most 5.56 rifles...

Don't be spending money on parts, just because you thought brass should be dropping at your feet.

If the ejection pattern was why you think you need an adjustable gas block, then slap yourself.  if the recoil is why you think you need an adjustable gas block, then slap yourself again.

Shoot your rifle.  Alot.  Once YOU can outshoot the gun - then start looking at parts that will make the gun better.
