Pretty neat article. Interesting that alot of guys are ditching BUIS.

Not to beat a dead horse...but his lancer mags are on their 3rd deployment and haven't crumbled in his hands...imagine that.

I like the looks of the IMI Defense Mags , going to have to look into them , too bad he is still using this junk Lancers :lmao: .

I only have two sets of BUIS & they are on rifles that have no scope on them & only temporarily , because of testing  . I find I have my scopes so far back , that a rear BUIS will not fit .

Excellent article! These are the kind of reviews I pay attention to, not some mall ninja practicing in his living room and putting it on YouTube...........

But that video of the guy saying the Lancers will kill you ,was a back yard Ninja ,that plays three gun with his buddies , don't you think he knows what he is talking about :laffs:

I looked around for the IMI Defense Mags , mostly what I found is the original type , the ones he shows are the G2 enhanced & I found them at a store that sells all IDF stuff, no 7.62 AR Mags , that I could see .http://www.zahal.org/products/ar15/m4-30-rounds-polymer-window-magazine?path_parent=306418

I actually have some Israeli industries Polymer Mags that are thirty years old ( or more ) & the work , I will dig them out for a photo op. They look almost like those being sold on most of the sights Looked at , not the G2 's though .

I'll still rock BUIS.

Someone pointed out in the comments that those guys get whatever they need as far as gear and support, and most of their missions are intense but relatively short term, while the average grunt is stuck in some crap hole with little support for months at a time. Much more likely that the grunt will break something, and not be able to get it fixed or replaced, so BUIS are still a good idea for the little people.

Interesting article Blue. And where, like the author says, I have confidence in the optics that I place on my weapons, I see BUIS's as what they're named for. They're there for "back up". So I still place them on all of my rifles, from the shortest to the longest. To me, the $200 cost for a good set of YHM or Troy sights, is more valuable than letting a scumbag possibly take me out if the optic battery dies.

Troy is on the same no-buy list as CTD and dicks sporting goods for me.

On the local board - dicks is a curse word - i no longer shop there either

I too have dropped away from BUIS. Rifles I have to trust my life too, get the security of >$1k glass. Rifles that I don't have to trust my life on, can go back in the case till I get the optic fixed/replaced. The only rifle I have with iron sights, don't have an optic.

I do believe in having two optics though. My ultimate mating of optics would be a 3-18x scope with a 45° MRDS... AND a 12 o'clock AN/PEQ would put a visible laser alongside the red dot... wishful dreaming.

GMTA, I won't anything to do with either of them. Great article as I like to hear what is really used, and works, in a combat theater.
