Long Distance: Getting started

I just piled up an epic Mile shot a weekend or so ago.

image.jpeg.96b550e33a85906044f385d6eb7fb2c6.jpeg

I was on in 4, Impact.  DA for the shot was 6k feet.  Wind was 4~6 from the right - that's MAGIC.  Cancels out the drift of a right-hand barrel twist.  Any distance.

16.9 mils for 1390 AGL, 6k DA - 0.5 mils high.  Hold UNDER 0.5 mils, bare miss, bare miss (don't chase it at a Mile...) - 4th round Impact.

Had a buddy go 0/10 on his gun, lent him MY gun - AND, my "HOT AMMO..."  already wind doped,  already dialed - he got on in 3, and declared himself the WINNER.

I was on in 4, new environment.  He was on in (0/10 +3) with a dialed and wind=doped shot, given away for free-fiddy-free.

I won that one.  By far.  :lmao:

I will leave him un-named, For now.  He might try to talk shiit and then I'll get into it.

Here's what the range owner said on his FacePage...

"You set the standard for the Patriot Mile. I don’t think anyone else has a 4 shot impact. Next time you need to do a cold bore single
Shot 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼"

For the record - the range owner never mentioned him getting on in 3 on his FB page after I smoked that 1776 n my 4th...  just handed over a dialed, wind-doped gun- that I had TOLD the dope / hold to before he got behind the gun.  Range Owner knew...  I made the shot - then just put another monkey behind the gun...  :lmao:

Yep, the WinMag.  225 ELD-M going 2932fps.  I've heard "that's too hot!..."  but I don't have ANY pressure signs at all.  the brass shows nothing, no bulging bases, nothing.  Perfect primers.

It's the RL-22 powder, is what it is.  It's acceptable for a WinMag and that projo - but it's a faster powder.

That afternoon, at 6k DA, it was 2912~2917 fps.  Might be time to clean the barrel...   :lmao:

I talked to the range owner today, and @Magwa will be shooting the Patriot Mile outside of Kingman, AZ, on Saturday, November 8th.  The Saturday before the Fall Shoot.

Get after it, brother.  :thumbup::hail:

Cold-Bore a Mile.  If you do it, do you have to immediately back it up,  prove you DID IT?!  I don't think so.

You just DID it.  Next dude that Cold-Bores the mile and follows it up with his second shot - is THE ONLY DUDE that can call you a Pu$$Y...  Until that happens - you own it, no one else does...

Cold Bore the 2k.  If you DID IT...  again...   No backup shot needed.  It's done.

Here's the equivalent.  Some dude makes this shot - who is the AssHead telling him he didn't make it, if he can't do it back-to-back...   :bitchslap:

Love these dudes - just for trying...

I'll get into @Magwa later..  He's our "Anamoly..."  Cold bore 2k, just off-center on the plate, at the top. by about 2"...   Talked him down off the ledge, calmed his nerves, QUICK  - kinda forced him into the second shot - 2" on the other side of centerplate.  two shots, TWO THOUSAND YARDS, 4 inches apart.

My sermon is Simple. Don't ever let someone tell you that something that YOU just achieved - doesn't mean something - IF you can't do it again...  IF, they never done it in the first place...

Make NO MISTAKE my friend - it means EVERYTHING, FOREVER...   Until you beat me, replicate the same thing, and do it ONE BETTER.   It's everything, until YOU beat it...   :lmao:

Talk about it, or BE about it.  Just show me, at me, defeat me, then brag.  I'm IN for that...  :hail:

I am not disparaging Nick Irving's marksmanship.  He is better than I will ever be and has done things I cannot imagine doing.

@Magwa did it better though. :hail::banana:

LMAO yeah maybe, but he did it while people were shooting back, he is the real deal......

This analogy is what it's like shooting with you fuqrs.  Doesn't matter what you achieve or accomplish - somebody is telling you "it's not good enough, doesn't count, UNLESS you do THIS..."   :laffs::lmao:

To those, I say this...  I did it.  It STANDS until YOU do it...  :thefinger: Prove me wrong, show me up, beat what I just did.  Or sit there, talking...

Check it...

I count everything I do that I succeed at it all counts ! there is always someone bigger, stronger  , faster, ect. but that takes nothing away from what you accomplish do NOT sell yourself short I may not be the best at anything but I can do a lot of stuff I take pride in that and I keep on swinging.

Spotters.  Shot Callers...

I'm gonna let loose with this right now.  If YOU THINK. THAT. YOU. ...   Are that "professional "Spotter" that everyone can depend on - you better be that.  You better know your dope at distance, you better know your calls, and if you have enough BALLS to call someone "OH!  0.2 Mils LOW" and you're calling a shot at one mile - you better already know that 0.1 Mil off at one full mile is 6.33" off...  0.2 Mils is 12.5 inches...   Know your shiit...

I'll leave this here right now.  I've seen some SHIIT calls from people that think they can spot, bravado takes over, and they think they can start talking tough on the internet.  "OH!  0.2 Mils low - come up 0.2..."  At a mile, that's 12.5" difference on correction - huge.  They sounded tough about the call, looked real good in a video, and everyone watching is mesmerized about their abilities - and it would have taken the shooter above the plate....  Sounded cool, though.  On video.  They don't even know what kind of come up that is, at that distance.  Just sounding tough on the internet.

You guys that shoot distance - better have a good spotter.  The Spotter is the more experienced shooter, in a military 2-man Sniper team. The "Sniper" is just a monkey on the gun, doing what the Spotter tells him to do.  Junior guy.  If you're gonna be a Spotter - you better know your shiit - or don't  talk any shiit about it...

Math is easy - this is nothing more than a Math Problem.  Distance is easy.  One TENTH of ONE MIL at 1k yards is 3.6 inches.  ONE FULL MIL at 1k yards is 36 inches.  Extapolate that out from 1k yards to 1760 yards, and one TENTH is 6.33 inches - for every single click you tell someone  .This is WHY math is easy, and Mils work - the average human is 18 inches wide, shoulder-to-shoulder.  So, if he's ONE MIL in your scope - 18"  wide shoulder-to-shoulder - he's 500 yards away...

See how easy that is?

This isn't hard.  But, once you're on the internet, looking tough about it - it's easy to see where you fuq your "professional calls" up.  I'm just sayin'...

Do better, people.  Learn the fuqn math and do it right.

Off now...   :soap:

Last match - most popular call was "OH!   0.3 Mils LOW!"  Or 0.3 Mils left or right, or whatever.  It was 0.3 mils, from a spotter that didn't have a Mil reticle in his spotting scope.  I'm done with that. You know who you are.

Even told a world-class 3-gun shooter that told his zero was off by 0.3 Mils.  It wasn't, confirmed later, by said Badass 3-gun shooter, later.  Told me I was 0.3 or 0.4 mils low, before my long distance stages - I wasn''t, but adjusted based on info from the first stage I shot.  Funny, used my original dope next stage, and smoked the timed stage.  Weird how that was off.  Bad spotter is how that was off, nothing more.

Be accurate.  Being cute for videos on the internet isn't accurate enough.

Know math.  Practice it. Be better.  Don't guess to sound tough in videos, and try to impress people that don't know any different.  I know the difference between shiit calls, and accurate calls.  Been in this game long enough to spot the bullshiiters.

Welcome back , this is the stuff we need to work on the math that makes everything work.. thank you I have been studying MOA because that is what I have but i need to learn mils as well to be good at this. I am more and more watching in my scope to get my hits so I can make my own calls unless i have someone whom i trust is giving me good info..... This part the math is more important that pulling the trigger.... this is what gets solid hits also this winter stuck in my house I am studying wind calls another very important aspect of this game...
