jeffreyC
This will end up being personal preference, but I use the Ergo grip 4005 http://www.ergogrips.net/item-detail.cfm?ID=4000Everyone who has held mine says that is what they want on their AR. survivalshop
Pretty much everybody's hands are different & ya need to put your mits around a few to see how they feel .
unforgiven
Got 3 types Ergo,Houge, and Magpul Moe+.All are very comfortable but Moe+ is my favorite. ;)
Rsquared
Nothing but Hogue's on all of my AR's. In my opinion (for what that's worth) the most comfortable grip out there. And for 20 bucks, you can't beat em. But, then again, it always comes down to personal preference.
Ben Diss
I have large hands and prefer the Ergo 4045. Have used the MOE and a couple of others. Love the Ergo.
Robocop1051
So far I have owned the Magpul MIAD, the Magpul MOE+, Troy Battleaxe, TangoDown Battlegrip, Ergo grip.... I just ordered the BCM Gunfighter Mod-0 and Mod-1 from a friend... I stopped using the TangoDown and Ergo due to personal preferences. The MOE+ so far is my favorite, but I'm not sure on the lifespan of the product. I have heard 3rd hand rumors of the rubber degrading quickly.I'm also debated on trying out the Pearce 1911 style grip adapter. One thing I do not have a shortage of, is 1911 grip panels. I'm waiting for a slightly more "1911" styled adapter before I make the transition.
tolbndfishin
Played with a MIAD, very nice. I have a command arms G27 (unfortunately discontinued now) and it is my favorite. My next purchase will be the interchangeable one they make: UPG16. Not sure about the new model, but the G27 doesnt quite fit flush where it meets the trigger guard on some lowers (but not every one), it leaves the corners of the trigger guard to rub/aggravate your finger. On my MATEN, if i look for it, i can see it, but it fits better and i cant make it rub in normal shooting. I'm hoping the UPG16 fixes this problem, but even if it's identical, i won't care. I really like the Ergo grips as well, but the command arms is my favorite.Russ
redbone
Just got a lr-308 today. I've been reading the Hogue has troubles fitting on, but the stuff I've been reading is a bit old. Does the problem still exist?

redbone
Thanks the for warm welcome and Merry Christmas! :) I'm just south in TN :)I've got a hogue on my ar-15 and would like to stick to the same grip/feel if possible. I'm just worried and curious if I'll have to modify it any or will it just fit right on? In searches, I was turning up stuff from 2008 and 2010 where some people were talking about having to drill or trim part of it off to let the safety work correctly for this DPMS LR-308. :)Thanks again for your quick response. I'm just researching what I need to be after before buying something...hopefully tomorrow at the LGS
Rsquared
I'm just researching what I need to be after before buying something...hopefully tomorrow at the LGSTomorrow? Good luck my man. Gun dealers have been getting slammed this week (for obvious reasons). Mine was more crowded then I have ever seen. And I was just picking up. I was glad that I wasn't there to try to buy. redbone
I didn't want to take the one off my ar-15. I know.... I'm weird like that. I'd rather leave the stock one on until I can get something I know will work.I've got a few places close to me that I can definitely get a magpul or hogue grip from. They even still have high cap mags. You know Barrett? :) They own/run Outpost Armory here in TN which is about 15 miles from my house. They have plenty of stuff still. There are a couple other places too that I know have various stuff in stock. Heck. I think even Walmart had grips in stock yesterday when I bought some ammo. Rsquared
Well....I'm a Hogue man myself. But everybody has thier preferences. At this point, it's either take what you can get.....or wait until you can get what you want.
redbone
Well, I got a hogue grip today and installed it. The first time I screwed it down, the safety fell out. lol. The spring didn't seat on the little pin that holds the safety in and allows it to rotate. So, I finally got that in the right way and I think its good. Safety appears to work fine. I might have a chance to shoot it for the first time and break the barrel in tomorrow. On a side note, I noticed that the magazine it came with "can" hold 20 - however 19 is what it should only hold. If I put 20 in, its a little hard to lock in and I can't pull the charging handle. I removed 1 and the mag snaps in easily and charging handle is no problem. So, the mag is a bit out of spec by allowing 20 when it shouldn't or its a tad bit short.

Just tap and set-screw the detent and spring in place - you'll never have to worry about it again. <thumbsup>
