blue109 Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) im bored...so heres a pic of a pile of parts. Ive played around with a few configurations and i think i have it figured. FN/A2 upper. Delaware machine lower with consecutive ser. number to my 14.5 gun (its a RRA lower in the pic because i havnt put the DM together. the RRA is just a spare waiting for an idea ). ACS. MOE handguard. shadow ops FA BCG. its a true rifle length dissy with a DTI barrel. i built one like it for my father in law and it runs flawless. the barrel is a 3lb pig so im having it contoured down to .625 under the hand guard right now. i should be able to loose a lb at least? Armalite FSB is on order. still need a barrel nut and delta ring but im about to make a Brownells order so it should be rectified soon. thinking of trying out the Brownells short comp. its only an inch long and .750 OD. should make the dissy look extra stubby. Magwa Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 would look killer with a A2 stock.... just sayin lol i am building a dissy 300blackout upper to go with my 5.56 dissy i am addicted
blue109 Posted July 27, 2013 Author Report Posted July 27, 2013 UBR is in the mail for my 308 so I happen to have a A1 without a home:) the ACS looks pretty hot when its together though so well see.
Magwa Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 Love that upper of yours, and now that mine is together I love shooting it love the sight radius and the mid gas system is alot smoother than a carbine. I bet your rifle length gas will be great... gas port size .105?
Tripledeuce Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 Total ignorance here!!! Whats a "dissy"????? Respectfully Terry
unforgiven Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=199 This brother Terry.
blue109 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) Basically a 16" with a full rifle length sight radius. Its a concept of yesteryear that has become pretty much obsolete with modern AR accessories. But like the SPR, its kinda cool, and people still build them. Edited July 28, 2013 by blue109
Magwa Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 And they have that bad ass look which does not hurt... and a true dissipator will have a rifle length gas system mine is what would be called a mock dissy since it has a low profile gas block at the mid position under the rifle length handguards .
planeflyer21 Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 I had one of the original Bushmaster Dissipators, A2 stock and sights. One of the ones I should've never let go.
Magwa Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Magwa Kicks Planeflyer21 right in the Butt , now you feel better? LOL I would love to see that original Bushmaster
blue109 Posted July 29, 2013 Author Report Posted July 29, 2013 Those were mid length gassers weren't they? I'd really love to see an original cut down M16.
planeflyer21 Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Nope, somehow I still regret it. But my 'roids don't hurt anymore! Thanks!
shepp Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks, Rene. Terry I had to do alil googling after posting pictures of the "dissy" I picked up in January. Rob and some one else called it that and I was like a nice what?!? Mines a spike full rifle gas tube I really like it and love the look
blue109 Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 teaser. .625 is soooo light compared to the Hbar pig it was.
Rsquared Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Isn't it nice to have lathe's at your disposal? Oh....and you suck....by the way.
blue109 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Report Posted August 2, 2013 Lol. My buddy has a custom car/bike/lowrider shop. (google BSG customs to see some cool stuff) his buddy has the machine shop and lets him play around in there when he's not too busy. Got my barrel nut. The FSB was suppose to be here today so maybe tomorrow. :( other than that were ready to rock.
blue109 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Report Posted August 4, 2013 Yea parts. I can't lock it all down for a few days. I used some hi temp engine paint and I need to bake it in after it cures. Im really liking how this thing is coming out though. And stupid cheap too :)
blue109 Posted August 7, 2013 Author Report Posted August 7, 2013 Just need to bake the barrel tomorrow to finish curing the hi temp paint. I used VHT 650° engine paint. It will be under the hand guard so im not too concerned with the durability. Just wanted to cover the bare metal.
blue109 Posted August 9, 2013 Author Report Posted August 9, 2013 Really like this little guy. Feels great on the shoulder.
