Hey Ya'll from Coastal Alabama

Have milsurp 308 semi battlerifles and hunt with 308 bolt guns. Looking for a AR 308 with great accuracy and is still toteable on a hunt. I Like the CMMG MK 3 and the sig 716. What do you guys recommend in the accuracy dept 308 ?

Most of my shots are between 150 yds and 225 yds.  I use a rangefinder.

If I'm only recommending between the two, go for the 716... Stay away from CMMG as much as you can.

If you want the best off the shelf shooter, check out the LaRue rifles.

Get the SIG of those two.  Getting good feedback so far.

I own a CMMG MK3 and it's worked flawlessly thus far (450+ rounds). IMO it's well made and CMMG were quick to fix a small minor issues (wrong bolt catch - they quickly sent me a new one).

 

At the range, it can easily do sub MOA groups.

 

I went with the CMMG over the Sig due to what was available at that moment - I personally prefer a slightly longer barrel, 18-20" and all the Sig's they had at the LGS were 16"

 

Either way both are good mid-budget choices.
