planeflyer21 Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Bolt lugs came off. Not good if you own one. http://www.funkertactical.com/video-vulcan-50cal-explodes-injuring-shooter-on-first-shot/
gnatshooter Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 I imagine Vulcan .50's are selling pretty cheap right now, if they're selling at all.
bubbasks Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Yeah if ur buying blackthorne or vulcan or whatever they wanna call themselves this month you should already know to be careful. Ide never touch one in a 50.
texas30cal Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 It'll ruin your shorts too!! I have a dpms pattern 308 I built from one of their rifle kits, it wasn't the absolute best but not bad either, although it did require a little fitting and troubleshooting, but I do understand they're not usually even that good.
shibiwan Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Makes me worried about shooting the VOW XF50.... lol
sketch Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Dam that had to suck. My guess is the range has a new policy for this brand rifle as well.
Ksgunguy Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Is this what happens when you do not check the head spacing? Edited February 25, 2014 by Ksgunguy
unforgiven Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 I was thinking the same thing brother. <dontknow>
shibiwan Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Is this what happens when you do not check the head spacing? No, this is what happes if your firing pin gets stuck because it got dirty. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/06/10/vulcan-v50-50-bmg-kaboom/
Ksgunguy Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Sooooooooo what you are saying is a Clean gun is a safe gun?
Matt.Cross Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Sooooooooo what you are saying is a Clean gun is a safe gun? If it has strong bolt lugs, yes... but it must not be so clean that there's still a cleaning rod in the bore.
shibiwan Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Sooooooooo what you are saying is a Clean gun is a safe gun? Probably why it was hammered into my head from my military days.
98Z5V Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 Is this what happens when you do not check the head spacing? Not saying that this exact thing could happen if you don't check headspace - bolt lodged in your shoulder - but something similar could DEFINITELY happen if your headspace isn't even verified - and it's off, and very tight or very loose... If you don't check it, you won't know until you pull the trigger the first time, too... I'm just sayin'. In reference to the 308 ARs, there IS no set standard, no pattern to go by, and definitely no TDP to follow in producing the parts for them. Hell, there are three MAJOR different platforms/patterns in them, and by now, possibly thousands of manufacturers of parts, components, barrels, etc. You can probably build any AR-15 variant you want, not check headspace, and you'll just be fine. Please check the headspace on your 308 AR build, though. Not for us. For you.
MaDuce Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Not the first time I've seen an exploded gun by those guys. First time I've seen a serious injury from it though. I sure hope that guy's OK.
texas30cal Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 There is a thread with links to both videos and more info over on 1919a4.com
