Guys Me and Char went to the range Saturday, and after shooting rifles went to the pistol range.....they had the backstop moved away a lil, bout

at 20yds I guess.....so Char and her lil STI escort carry was laying in groups in the x ring...go girl

Here's my problem The HK USP uses a deadhold sight picture....the target has to be covered up completely......I put the shortest front sight on it,but still shoots low...tight groups but low. I know its self defence type weapon but daaamn I ought be able to get near the first ring? she gave me her beloved escort and I put 6 shots some in the x and other right beside..

So whats up with this HK? Im thinkin it may have to go into the deep end of the gunsafe....im hating it ! opinions please :) Wash

Changing the ammo could change the point of impact. Go with a heavier bullet, it would raise the muzzle more during dwell time.

Get a few boxes of different weight ammo and see which does the best. That is why I always buy adjustable sights on my pistols. Hope you find something that works.

Okay...ill get some heavy... been shootin 115 and 124...so theres only like 147 left to try?...

I did hit 5 out of 6 swingers one try ,but crap all i could see was the back of my hand with the sights right there...well, I guess a home defense gun it is what it is....pisses me off Char and her lil gun shootin lights out....then I cant hit crap with the HK...then I

take her STI and smack the x ring almost everytime using the 6 oclock hold   crap!  I wanna see the frickin target when I pull the trigger    :)  Wash

It is all good just remember targets are just paper in a defense situation you will not care if you can see the back of your hand .....

I used to own a USP 40 that shot to point of aim, very accurately I might add.

Something may be wrong with your 9.

Yep she groups well....what hold did you use Micro?

IIRC the USP did require a center of target hold but not to the point of obstructing the bullseye.

My HK 45C and P7 use a 6 o'clock hold.

Okay Micro  maybe im jerkin it down then.....ill get back...ill try some heavy stuff.......:)   Wash

Yes, HKs have dead on hold. It can be a little irritating if you are bullseye shooting.... but for what it is. It's fine. I know in a defensive situation... I'm going to hit what I aim at. I usually just have to get over it and it's all good.

I have The Trijicon HDs on one of mine. When I just focus on the front, and "look through it", things work fine. Another has the factory Mepros. Still dead on hold... but that one does not seem to bother me as much. Not sure why.

If I really do want to shoot bullseye, then I just shoot 6 o'clock hold. Yes it's low, but I have a reference point to shoot, and I shoot tight groups.

I have a 3rd on the way that will get HDs too. Can't wait.

Its a fine piece....got the mep nightsights on mine.....maybe more practice is in order....but still as ive found out its not made for bullseye shootin..... :) Wash

I do agree. At the range... you need that reference point. You need a "point" to reference. I know exactly what you mean. Bullseye shooters do not use dead on hold. there is a reason.

But defensively, shooting center mass..... ya, I have no problem with that. I'll hit what is in front of me. And I am starting to get used to that big orange dot of the HD. Starting to really like it. Obviously that does not work in the dark.... but bringing up that big orange dot with dead on hold... it's working.

I just sort of found that looking "through" the front sight, and looking at my target "picture"... instead of target "point"... I do just fine. And defensively, that is what I should be doing anyway. So I sort of think it is good for that.

Power you are right on.....but what gets me ,is when me and Char go to the range...she takes her STI escort carry gun and just riddles the bull....then she takes her STI elektra  and once again kicks my azz....Im always explaining to her that the HK isnt for target shooting

all I get is a freakin wink and a belly laff from her....put the escort or elektra in my hand and I shoot right with her...sumbitch!    :)  Wash

Micro never thought of that although it feels good in my hand.....the belly laff is all the motivational tools I need ......she refuses to shoot the HK.... whats the point she tells me....geeeez :) Wash

Wash, this poor thread has grown to 2 pages now.

I'll take that dastardly pistol off your hands, at this point.  You hate it, it does you no good, and Char outshoots you when you're on that thing.

Lemme do you a favor, brother...  <lmao>
