My wife and I are going to Colorado next week.  I have a conference to go to in Estes Park starting Thursday.  Then we are going to go off-road, camping, and other things that strike our fancy.  We may make it to Mt. Rushmore and to Sturgis the week before the rally.  I've heard there are quite a few vendors that set up early.  We rarely make definite plans for vacations.  Anything else in the area that we should consider?

I know that I can only carry a gun with a magazine with 15 rounds in Colorado.  Are there any similar restrictions in neighboring states?  I know I could look it up, but it's late and I'm being lazy.

That's another 350 miles, right there - I'm just sayin'...

If you're going to make that trip for that distance, hit Devil's Tower.  Yep, no joke, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" Devil's Tower.

That thing is a sight to behold, in person.

I hadn't even thought of that.

Dead woods cool touristy but cool

Devils tower was what I was going to say when I first read your post, clusters state park is nice too

Mount Rushmore is cool, if I had to pick between it or crazy horse I'd go Rushmore (but I was there along time ago too)

We have been to Pike's Peak.  My wife got dizzy from the altitude, but no problem in the cabin we stayed in at 9500 feet.  All of these are great suggestions.  I don't know where we may end up.  We may stay in CO if we find somewhere we like.

Any unusual concealed carry restrictions in adjoining states I should know about?

We took the cog-rail up Pikes peak wife was short of breath also. The thing about Crazy horse is it will take generations to complete, and it is privately funded.

Things way up high over there get strange, like starting a fire, or boiling water. It's one thing to read about these issues, but totally something else when you're trying to do 'em.

Well Doc, don't start any fires....and hopefully you won't be making any hard boiled eggs on your visit. Sounds like that would be a pain in the rear. DO try the brownies for us though, and report back. I haven't been out that way, so I have no suggestions. A lot of these mentioned sound pretty good though. I can't wait to get out on the road with the family someday.

My old man loved going "out west" went to Colorado in 1st grade actually remember a lot of it, then in my teens SD and the last trip I went on with them I was 16 we went to Montana and up into BC I always tell people skip yellow stone go to glacier much cooler less busy park. I still say the hottest girl I ever saw was in ID at a lil gas station in bfe lol.
