shiningj Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 Hi Everybody; Just signed up to this forum as I got a DPMS GII Bull 24" a few weeks ago and trying to get it set up to my tastes. I live in out of town (Bearden) in So. AR, have some land, dog, wife of 35yr (55yr old) and now no money. I do have one question right now and it is "How long will the take down pin holes last as they do not have steel bushings in them, they are just aluminum, and with the scope on I have to take it apart to case it or should I take the scope off instead"
unforgiven Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 Welcome from Indiana brother. The take down and pivot holes shoudn't be an issue IMO.
DNP Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Welcome. I haven't ever heard of anyone wearing out the takedown holes. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I haven't ever heard of the issue before, so I'm going to bet you'll be fine.
shiningj Posted August 11, 2014 Author Report Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks to all of ya'll for replying to my question. I won't worry about it then and I appreciate all the greetings.
washguy Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Greetings leave the scope on....get a soft case for bout 40....takedown pins on some of my ar's from 1992 still tighter than a gnats azz :) Wash
Dane Armory Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Welcome from AZ ! The only way to wear out take down pin is to run full auto and that still make take 10K rounds or more. No worries. They do sell ovesize pin sets. Edited August 14, 2014 by Dane Armory
