Was that to blend with the Houston smog? <laughs>

Wow, these stories make me feel like I missed out on a fun childhood. <laughs> The worst I remember doing was having bottle rocket or roman candle fights at about 25 feet. I feel deprived. :(

Here's another one in Houston. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=8971311

NSSF - CT Legislators Seek Sweeping Gun Control
Armed Eye Doc replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it's that bad here in TX yet. But there are far too many foreigners moving to Austin to suit my taste. The transplants come here because the economic environment is good but then want to recreate the same entitlement state that they left because no one could find a job. -
My last message wasn't clear. <dontknow> I guess I should have had a beer before I posted. :ecs: What I meant to say was that I believe the Dems plan to pass a gun control bill. I just don't think it will be this one. If it could get though the House, they would certainly jump for joy. However, the past has shown that they propose a massive legislation and demagogue it until the Repubs think they have no choice but to compromise. Soon after, the Dems will say that is a good start but that more needs to be done. The last example was tax increases on "the rich" at the time of the fiscal cliff. I guess I'm expressing my lack of confidence that the Republican leadership will completely protect our rights. The recent past shows that they will only slow down the loss a little bit. Now I need more beer.

I don't think the Democrats have any intention of getting this bill passed. Like all other recent topics of legislation, they put out what they would like to see happen eventually (a dream bill) and then sit back and wait for the Republicans to fall all over themselves to compromise our rights away. The Republican "leaders" in congress have no stomach for standing on principle if it going to make them look bad in the press. I agree that the current bill would not pass as written - definitely not in the House and likely not in the Senate. That is why the Republicans should try to put it to an up or down vote without modification. It will force the Democrats to show where they truly stand. That is something that they hate worse than law-abiding gun owners.

What do you have on order or in the mail?
Armed Eye Doc replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
You might also try tire stores. They use a lot of lead balancing tires. -
Excellent <thumbsup>

Not to change subjects, but I will. My rifle did show up today. :We need something other than a banana for a happy dance: That proves that RRA does still make LAR-8's. To all those still awaiting your delivery, have patience and it will pay off. I will post pics in the pic thread soon.

Welcome, I'm in the middle of nowhere Texas... AKA Corsicana.

LAR-8 Elite-O. Just Ordered. (Advice: Handguard & Optics?)
Armed Eye Doc replied to GS455's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
Hang in there. I ordered mine in March 2012 and my LGS got an email last Saturday that it had shipped. It should be here in the next few days. -
I hope to have a picture to share by this weekend. ;D

The Fed may be screwed anyway. It appears the German central bank will move ALL of their gold out of NY and back home. This may lead to a pissing match between central banks and the fallout will not be pretty. <munch> <munch> http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-01-14/it-begins-bundesbank-commence-repatriating-gold-new-york-fed

I don't believe it is ignorance of the facts or poor leadership at all. I believe it is a well-planned assault on the American society as it used to be. It started at least a century ago and has taken place with slow incremental loss of liberties that are always "in the best interest of society." It has taken until now to get enough people in the right places before they felt the time was right to take a big step toward limiting gun rights. If they are not successful this time, history shows that they will regroup and take smaller steps toward their goal until they feel the time is right to go for the big step again. :soap: I could go on, but my soap-box may be needed later and I don't want to wear a hole in it. <munch>

There may be a rash of firearm thefts.

My barrel is basic 16" as show on their website. LGS confirmed about 3 months ago that it was the barrel that was the delay. I read in this thread about the barrel shipment a month ago. It seems that was true. I don't know how many they got in or how soon they will work through the backlog of orders. I looked for mags on RRA site. The only thing listed is a mag loader for $30. I picked up several metal 20 round mags for $25 a couple of weeks ago at a gun show. Since then, I've seen rusted ones going for $30 and better ones for $50+.
-
10 months, but it was the barrel that was the hold up.
-
I saw an SKS at the local gun show this weekend for $500. Like everything else there, it was overpriced and i passed it by.

I got a mid-length A4. Very basic except a couple of small mods to make it close to ambidextrous (some in family shoot left handed). Very similar to this... http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=255 I just hope there's no stoppage in sales of AR-type weapons between now and when it shows up. I will only be sure it is mine when I pick it up and bring it home.

I just left my LGS. He told me that my gun has been shipped and probably went out today.   It should be here this week. Hopefully I can take possession of it prior to any action that the gun-grabber-in-chief may want to enact tomorrow.

Makes you wonder, I don't put nothing past the government...
Armed Eye Doc replied to BLKSHEEP's topic in Club House
It's a long video but it goes to the point that the establishment medicine bureaucracy is tied in with the pharmaceutical companies. I found it well worth an hour of my time. FWIW, I am an optometrist and prescribe some medicine when needed, but believe that many drugs are way over-prescribed. Mostly that is profit driven, but some of it may be for control. -
Any news on shipment of LAR8's? It has been 10 months and I'm almost tired of waiting but it would be too expensive to change now.

I have the FNP 45 and love it. It shoots great, feel great in the hand, and it's hard to beat the capacity. I kind of wish I had gotten the tactical or the competition (not offered in the FNX 45 afaik). I will likely never need a threaded barrel, but the ability to add a holo sight would be great.
