Which gas block for iron sights on a Sportical height upper?
survivalshop replied to Mr_Roboto's topic in Building a .308AR
Yep , Blue109 is correct , you have the Bastard of DPMS Rail heights . -
I think Jtallen83 is correct about the Bolts firing pin hole , it may be too large . You see a lot of this same issue with the new DPMS GII rifle , seems like they all do it . Primers don't look flattened , so its probably not high pressure sign . The Powder charge is with in load spec's , what is the COL of you hand loads , but if factory fodder is doing the same thing , its not your hand loads .

Can you communicate with the mother ship , too ?
-
How about some photo's of the spent Brass .
-
Also , disassemble the Bolt Components & inspect & clean . New Components could have Burr's or Debris from machining . Look closely at the Ejector & Extractor & their respective Springs . DPMS Extractor has a double spring , Spring within a Spring . Other manufacturers may use just one Spring & an O-ring ( Donut ) or two , I recommend the DPMS Spring system . What Gas system is your SBR barrel ?

Are you talking about something like an A2 sight tower on a A2 AR 15 ? Or you talking about a Railed Gas block you can put a Front sight on ? Or are you talking about the flip down Gas Block Front sights ? I would say all the Flip up or A2 types will be std. hight to correspond to a Flat top , rail mounted Rear sight or A2 sight . Now the Railed Gas Block , may be a different story . -
A boycott of this so called play is a good way to shut these people up , hit them in the pocket book , just like the Democommie supporters . $$ is the key to keep the corruption from them down to a minimum . Some may not agree with Boycott's , but if well organized , they will send a message to those who believe that can disregard the Bill of Rights , among other things . Its why you will never see my name on Fukbook , that is a corrupt establishment or what ever you want to label it . Just like the so called News Media , find out who their sponsors are & contact them & tell them why you don't intend to use their product . I do !

Alignment shop , you could waste good tires in a hurry with a bad alignment .

With the two Triggers that have come up lately , with the firing of both the Pull & release of the Trigger , how long before the BATF stipulates that the Release of the Trigger for the firearm to fire is not to the Regulation , that specifies " Single function of the Trigger " Triggers were never meant or have ever been made ( Till now ) to fire a Firearm with the release of the trigger , so they can basically say that , that is not the function of a Trigger . I think we can say that electronic firing function of Firearms are in the Future , just like driverless cars . If people want to dump mag fulls of ammo , who am i to say its a waste , its their $$ . Might be a good thing if you need suppressive fire conditions .

I always tumble my brass in normal media before sizing/depriming , then then they go to wet Stainless Steel Tumbling . Cleans them enough to keep the Die from being damaged from dirty Brass . As said , I Taper Crimp or use a Lee Factory Crimp on all my Hand Loads , only light crimps .

I'll be waiting for you review also , thanks .

The G2 is a great Trigger if you want a two stage , I have two of them .

Close in work a lower power scope would be more appropriate . 2.5 is not all that bad for close in , but most like the 1X for close shots & 6X works well for longer shots . Vortex, Leopold & there are many more out there in edition to the PA mentioned above . Which DPMS 308AR do you have ?

He got mine out the same day he got the email Good work Dave , now I have to pick a Barrel , thanks

I have Polished many Milspec triggers with mixed results , you can actually make them worse , believe it or not . If you plan on using this Rifle for any kind of good groups , an after market Trigger ( FCG ) is where you need to go , the Milspecs do work , but thats about it . The ALG ACT (FCG) is around $ 60 or so & I have got a good break on the ones I have @ about 51/2 # 's consistent , good for Hunting & really not all that bad if you want to play with grouping . There are a few around now since ALG came out with there's & are very good also , I just don't have any experience with any of them but the ALG ACT & the Enhanced Spikes Tactical , which is as good as the ALG . A good Drop in is also a Plus , http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/triggers-parts/triggers/ar-15-velocity-trigger-curved-prod94245.aspx?avs|Make_3=AR-15 Here is one around $ 115 , not tried it ,but three pound pull , I have heard its a good FCG . Its all about $$ & you know you can go up from here.

I think its Shooter's pro sport or Sporting pro or something like that , I had it wrong in the first post . When I go by there again , the old signage is still up .

Whats you use of this rifle that you decided you need a 15" long Hand Guard , if you don't mind my asking . These new type HG are light , but every ounce makes a difference , especially up front .

I don't think I have ever heard of someone out running a radio , thats new to me . Speaking of Helicopters , did you see the youtube where the guy used a drone to catch his wife cheating on him , I told the wife , better look up when you with your boyfriend , the look I got

The old store ( Shooting pro Sports ) I bought a lot of Hand Guns & my first two 308AR Lowers in went out of business & this week a new one took over the same store , its called " Top Gun Supply ", they have another store in Ohio , east of Cleveland & in my old area where I grew up . I walked in & the whole wall was nothing but every kind & color of AR you can imagine , Mostly big name Hand Guns , & big $$$$ 1911's .They had a couple SKS's in like new condition , al & all not bad prices , not the greatest ether , I might buy a SIG for my Birthday next week , ya never know , I've never owned a SIG , I think they had more of them then any other .

They don't need to be really fast , they have radio's .

I find it strange that in almost forty years of building AR's in both semi & select fire configurations, that you have another barrel that needs to have the Barrels Gas Port opened & I have had only one , in all those years . It was a XM177 Build , 10.5" BBL. & would not function reliably in full auto , the opening of the port fixed it . Its true we have a lot more Barrel makers for AR's now a days & one would think they would all have this Gas Port thingy down pat , but you have some bad luck with barrels .

Any idea where are the American Tactical firearms are made ?
