Thats not entirely true with custom barrels , most seat & are designed to seat the Gas Block up against the Barrel Flange stop . Now if it had or was designed to have a A2 type Hand Guard , it would be made or its Gas Port position, would be set up to use the extra space for a HG Cap .

I always wonder how things like this can happen , this is very sad & may have been avoided with more training or experience . When I read another one of these accidents , it reminds me of the one at the range I go to , where the guy was shooting by himself ( as I do ) & he must of holstered his 40 cal in a shoulder holster & shot him self in the chest & was found Deceased . Tragic day for this weekend . https://www.yahoo.com/news/teen-accidentally-shot-dead-front-174932767.html

JP Enterprises handguards: experience? Opinions?
survivalshop replied to Rick O'Shea's topic in .308AR Parts
Just follow the instructions when installing , if you have any issues or questions , just ask up . The 2" add on Rail is around $ 35 , the Full Rail is about $ 90 . I just installed a Universal on the one on my 18" ( for a Bipod ) , but I used JP's Backing Nuts & I custom turned the Screw Heads to fit the reliefs in the Rail for them . Yes , I cheap ,I had that 4" rail laying around & the Screws from my extra Mid West fit the Extra JP Nuts I had for the Sling Swivel attachments . Looks like it was made for it . The only issue I have had with the way they are installed is , the Upper Receiver on the Carbine is a POF NP3 coated & there is no locTite that would stick to it , so I improvised . -
Inaccurate Upper Reciever Troubleshooting
survivalshop replied to Pathfinder2041's topic in Building a .308AR
Its easy to tell if the Barrel is loose with out disassembly , Remove the Upper from the Lower Receiver & remove BCG & just grab the bbl. in one hand & the other on the the Upper Receive & see if you can perceive any play between the two . Or you can remove the Hand Guard , sometimes removing it may require special tools , as has been mentioned . Depends on whats one there . I would also try shooting with the Hand Guard supported on a good rest ,with out using the Bipod. You want to eliminate the easy stuff before condemning the Barrel , you just never know , but the Barrel may be suspect . I would try M 80 Ball also , some barrels/chambers may like a certain ammo . The only 1-10 Barrel I have seen that didn't like 308 ,168gr. ammo , the Barrel was loose . -

Inaccurate Upper Reciever Troubleshooting
survivalshop replied to Pathfinder2041's topic in Building a .308AR
How are you testing this rifle , off sand bags front & back of rifle ? Are you sure the Scope is not moving in the mount or rings ? Some Barrels shoot better then others , but should shoot better than what you are getting if on stable rest. Whats the Twist rate ? Could also be a Chamber issue. Is there a Muzzle Device on the Barrel ? How is the fit of this Upper in the Lower Receiver ? -
JP Enterprises handguards: experience? Opinions?

JP's are top notch , I have one on a 18" 308AR & one on a 16" AR 15 Carbine , both are the Modular type . , I have installed the full length top rail on both & both are 12" or 12.5' don't remember the exact size . I like them . -
Doubtful , the 308AR is much larger . What are you looking for in 308AR tools ?
-
Keep it Stainless , looks good . Whats the length added to your Barrel ? This is why you clean your MD , this is the Crown of the Muzzle , but the MD was just as dirty . What do you think this would do to accuracy , this barrel (16" Criterion ) had over 1K through it , but the Crown was probably compromised long before that .

It actually made it to Yahoo news , wow .

I thought the same thing , I want to support him . Might be in his campaign sight , I'll have to look . I just donated $ 20 https://ericgreitens.com

When you compare a $4K+ bike to a $ 179 one , why would you expect any other outcome . Like he said , it was never probably meant for a professional course , such as that . I watched that this morning , I'll give him the Brass Balls award for today . Would you take a pinto to a NASCAR race ? The outcome would be similar , its a cheap bike , everyone knows it . Hell My $ 500 bike would not make it ether .

Cleaning gas block glue from DPMS barrel
survivalshop replied to Rick O'Shea's topic in Building a .308AR
If its Rocksett, used on High Temp. applications . What is the proper way to remove a muzzle device that has been installed with Rocksett, and what thread locking strength is it similar to, ie blue Loctite? pinkvapor Answer This Question Answer 1/15/2014 The manufacturer recommends soaking in water for an extended period (several hours) and it will deteriorate. A quicker process would be to totally immerse in hot water for approximately 30 minutes and then break free with a wrench. Don't have a direct comparison to Loctite, but would consider stronger that Blue and approaching the Red. This product is desirable when heat-resistance is highly desired such as muzzle devices that will operate in conjunction with suppressors. Brownells from Montezuma, IA -
Congratulations , now if you think you were busy before , wait till you settle in to retirement , all of a sudden there is more work for you to do then you thought possible . Not saying its a bad thing ., you have the rest of your life to finish & no one, but yourself to answer to .

I use only Burris Extreme Tactical or Warne rings , the Warne are a bitch to put together sometimes with that cross lug dropping out . The Burris Extreme 's are the strongest rings I have ever used & I don't use the QR too often , when I install a scope on a 308AR , it stays there .

You have got a lot of choices , but a 16" Barrel is a very good choice , I have a 16" Criterion with rifle gas system that is a great shooter , There are many more , some are sponsors here & are very good Barrels .

You can say that again . -
I always wanted to hunt Moose . I'm sure that Truck left a Mark on that Moose . Nice hunk of meat there .
-
And they are in stock , BIGBREW
-
Is that because unsized brass usually has a spent primer in it & hard to seat another in it.

If it is a DPMS , the Fulton will fit just like a DPMS , I have one on a DPMS lower , its an older one with the pre-2009 rail height, if you need a photo , let me know . I always thought they were made by the same manufacturer as DPMS or made by them , they are not Billet , Unless they have changed , I doubt it , but Ya never know .
