  1. Nice , if I didn't go up to Ohio every December , I would forget what snow & cold felt like . <laughs>
  2. Let us know how it works <thumbsup>
  3. If you look at the rifle on the wall , it looks like it is normally underneath or hidden by the Picture & frame . The wall color is different where the rifle is & looks like the picture is hinged up .
  4. That's possible , could alter POI because of the effects on your shooting . Directional gas ports on the Brake , indexed incorrectly .
  5. <thumbsup>
  6. Strange that it locks back on last shot , but not manually . Are you sure its catching the Bolt face when locking back on last shot ? If its catching anywhere but the Bolt face , you have a problem .
  7. I will buy the DVD also , I don't go to those Germ farms they call movie theaters . <laughs>
  8. Too short lived , as was said , to be a Nuke detonation & if they were that close to get the shock wave , they would be fried shortly there after by the thermal blast .
  9. I had a PRI Brake custom made the fit seamlessly to the Barrel on my 20" & I made a 0.002" shim to index it & It would come loose even though it was torqued . I called PRI & asked how do they keep theirs on with out a lock washer of some sort & they said Loc tite . I used a small portion of Blue Loc-Tite & its been on there for years , still tight . It needs to come off to clean the barrel & Brake , so will put it back on the same way .
  10. That's a good question .
  11. That could be , it was wrong once . <dontknow> I'll go in & measure my DPMS pre-2009 Upper receiver .Took some trying to get that reading , I think its easier just to measure the thickness of the tab above the Charging handle . I don't have a AR 10 to measure , some here do . DPMS, High ( pre-2009 ) Upper receiver ----2.060 " Tactical Machining, Low ( post 2009 height ) 2.000" SI Defense , Billet Gen. II , Upper Receiver -- 2.060 "
  12. Well , we would have to see & taste this thing . <thumbsup>
  13. Careful , all this may work for an Amalite AR 10 , but get into DPMS LR 308's & their Upper receiver rail heights my cause some problems with A2 sight towers.
  14. Yes close , but not the same & its not much difference . The Samson rail height looks correct , what ever the Hanguard rail height was made for , but as said , the one DPMS rail height & the AR 10 are very close , so 0.005 ( example. ) may not be noticeable in the photo's .
  15. Yes & all the other fancy materials that were just talked about , will cost as much as if it was made for a space mission , that's why they don't use them . Its not tradition , its cost & what will we pay for it . Just what are these barrels going to do , take a 1/4 MOA off your group size, longer barrel life ? To the Bench rest shooters , this may be the ticket , but for most , its not , the cost may be prohibitive . <dontknow>
  16. How's it holding up from use ?
  17. Fulton Armory has them in stock . http://www.fulton-armory.com/lowerreceiverpartskittitanwithouttriggerparts-1.aspx
  18. & Hopefully the TSA stooges don't think you have an IED in your gun case . <lmao>
  19. The Armalite AR 10 rail height & one of the DPMS rail heights are close , but not the same , the two ,High & Low of the DPMS & AR10 are all different heights. I don't remember which of the DPMS rail heights are close . The was a video for a hand guard manufacturer that tells about it . I'll see if I can find it .
  20. I believe the Carbon wrapped Barrels are said to be , Heat Dissipators & run much cooler then plain Steel Barrels . Robocop has one , lets see what he has to say about it .
  21. Have you checked Midway ?
  22. We will be fighting over each other to see who builds one of these Magnums first. <thumbsup> <laughs>
  23. Nothing wrong with a 16" , there are a couple of Threads on here of 16" Barrels & their accuracy against other lengths . I have a 16" HB Barrel & my testing out to 200 yards ( as far as I have compared the two ) compared to my 20" HB is ,there is no real difference in grouping between the two Barrels. If you do change it out , as said here , keeping with a Armalite configuration Barrel , you should get a new bolt with the new barrel anyway , so going to a DPMS config. Barrel , you would still need a new bolt for the new Barrel , so no difference in what components you would need . Not a good idea to swap Bolts that are already seated to a particular Barrel . It would probably not be a problem , but what if , for some reason the used Bolt would not head space correctly on the new Barrel , why take the chance . New Barrel , new Bolt & still check Head Space, just to make sure , be it where you buy the Barrel or check it your self . What uses do you plan for this rifle ? Hunting , Target , long range or a little of both ? Putting accessories like a Free Float hand guard , Muzzle Brake/comp & good Fire Control Group , are some good ways to make a better shooting rifle .
  24. If High Ring is close , use an Extra High ring set, its what I have to use on all my AR's that have scopes . I like to keep rings or one piece mounts with as few fasteners as possible , a riser is just one more thing to possibly loosen up or be out of alignment. Some of the ring measurements by the manufacturers are sometimes hard to decipher . I use Burris or Warne Rings , the Burris Extreme Tactical are beasts , made to take a beating .
