  1. The $ 42 on their 308 mags ( not on sale ) kinda keeps me from testing one , but probably will at some point .
  2. To even find out if there is a difference between the untrimmed metplat & a trimmed on would take a lot more specialized equipment , to truly do it in a scientific manor , so I agree with " Father 98 ", shoot more. ( just say , yes Dad ) <lmao> Is this about your inconsistent COL , that you were talking about before & if so , you may want to look at your Bullet seater/ stem on your die . Try another brand seating die & see if it makes a difference .
  3. <thumbsup>
  4. Pretty obvious a sound Suppressor will alter gas pressure , but Brakes & Comps. , not much , if they do at all . The Bullet is already out of the barrel by the time the Comp. or Brake has anything to do with Gas pressure . Once the bullet leaves the barrel , gas pressure drops dramatically , all a Comp. or Brake does is redirect the gasses leaving the barrel .
  5. Maybe he's building a Pistol <dontknow>
  6. Well , if someone here has tested this barrel & comes out with it , your off the hook , so to speak , but other wise , let us know how the barrel works <laughs>
  7. I figured as much ,but with my lack of knowledge on the subject , I had to ask . I'm looking at MechArmor Defense Systems Plate carrier with their Ceramic Plates & he is out of the side panel plates . I wanted the complete system with side plate , so I may just order the it & wait till the side plates come in or just wait till they get them in . I talked to Van yesterday & he has some new products coming shortly . He said he is making their charging handle (TacOps 1) for the Gen.II DPMS , a drop in trigger system for the AR platform & a few other things .
  8. I'll have to look , but I think they are add on plates .
  9. Are they worth it , if buying new Armor ? I know they will help & be worth a lot if something comes in that direction , but are they worth the extra weight & restricted mobility ? Up front , I have no experience wearing Body Armor .
  10. It sure saved a lot of money & trouble . <thumbsup>
  11. She could have show a little more skin , she was teasing us or you are <laughs>
  12. A lot of people use them in these rifles & I make Hunting ammo with them , but I mostly stick with Ball or BTHP Match for my practice ammo . I have seen in the past one gum up the works , just like a popped primer , but I think they are making them much better now a days.
  13. Seems like " The Rule " is involved here . <dontknow>
  14. Thats good to know ,because I looked also & he is right about most being out of stock . To many people building 308AR 's , stop it ! <laughs>
  15. I have a drawers in my reloading bench I store mine in .House temperature stays around 75 deg. year round . I also use Powder & Primers that are 20+ years young .
  16. ? & aprox. round count of rifle ?
  17. I'm feeling pretty young around here now, thanks . <thumbsup> One good thing about building an 308AR , you can buy parts as you can afford them , of course you have to wait to shoot the rifle , but that all depends on how fast you buy the components & their availability.
  18. I have a spare I can send you . You can wait & see what they send you , just let me know .
  19. So have you physically witness the light primer strikes ? What ammo was used ? Did you replace the Hammer spring because of this light primer strike problem ? How often does the rifle has this issue ?
  20. Yes,I was showing you a comparison , don't know what they sent you ? Its not right , that's for sure .
  21. And as long as the Barrel's seating flange is seated flush against the Upper receiver & a notch on the Nut for the gas tube line up . From your photo ,the seating of the rail to rail , the Hand guard is not going any further, but that doesn't mean the Barrel nut will not go further in , when torqued properly .
  22. Gouges from instillation ? Buffer stop bent ? Now where have I heard that before ? The buffer stop being bent may be from the Buffer hitting it with every cycle , when firing , something that's not supposed to happen . The Buffer stop is only there to keep the Buffer & spring from shooting out of the Receiver extension upon disassembly for cleaning ( shot gunning the upper) . Did the face of the Buffer have a bunch of scratches ? Was the Head Space checked upon assembly ? If it Head Spaced correctly , there is nothing in the Chamber keeping it from chambering a Cartridge , other wise , it would not pass Gaging . Light primer strikes ? Is the rifle miss firing & then the cartridge is extracted & this is where they are seeing the scratches & a shallow indentation of the firing Pin on the Primer ? Every time you cycle a Cartridge in an AR & don't set it off ,it will get a slight indentation on the Primer & scratches from Barrel extension locking lugs .
  23. After dealing with the ATF for over twenty years as a dealer , that's hopeful thinking at best . The a$$holes in charge will just go along with the ATF & its hopeful the Court will go on the side of Logic . Unfortunately it will probably take an arrest & prosecution of someone, to bring all this out in the Courts, I do not Volunteer for that .
  24. Yes it is , get the right recipe & the stuff doesn't disappoint .
