  1. I emailed them on the contact us , but they were real slow the last time I contacted them . Maybe it will be different now that they have straitened their problems , but I posted here to see if anyone else knew . Sale will probably be over by the time I find out . <laughs>
  2. Target photo's, of course the bottom left group had the funny readings from my Chrono. & thats why I didn't write them on the target. I had two that were close to the velocity readings from the center group & two that were around 2500 fps & I knew there was sometime wrong & putting the sun shades fixed the problem. I don't want to log anything that could be bad info . The third group in the center was shot after I tightened the scope rings up . The left group is the Remington & the scope may have loosened up then , no idea .I like how there is two shots in the same hole , my spotter called it right away , I was impressed with this rifle /Cartridge combo .
  3. The water will always be dirty when wet tumbling with SS & dish soap/Lemishine . I clean with dry media lightly , then size & de-prime & then they go to the wet SS .
  4. Man , if they would of found someone in the DOD had changed the Gun Power to make the rifle system look bad , he would have been hung . All those men who lost there lives because of someone Fuk up. Bastiges !
  5. Wow ! Great deal .
  6. Long range or some use them for subsonic loads for 300BLK ammo.
  7. Using the wet system with the SS media ?
  8. My Gen II SI Defense upper receiver has a rail on the left side , couldn't think of what I would put there , an extra sight may be what they had in mind <dontknow>
  9. They don't want to get it or care to . They serve a higher master.
  10. I never thought of the loss of sight picture with the gangster style , firearm & arm/hand covering up other potential targets . Jerry is a true Master shooter .
  11. The twist rate may have the fractional part & they just don't publish it as a 11.25 , leaving the .25 out . <dontknow>
  12. Reloading is addicting , almost as much as building, shooting or accessorizing an AR . My wife sometimes has to come check on her mad scientist husband , to make sure I'm alive in my reloading room.
  13. Show off ! <lmao>
  14. I have to download some photo's of the 100 yard groups of the two different 45-70 factory ammo. I can't say for sure which actually shot better , the 325 gr. Hornady's had a more pronounced felt recoil , then the 300 gr. Remington's , but I expected it. One of the guys I have talked to at the range before , was out there & had a long experience with the 45-70 Cartridge & spotted for me . I got the Remingtons three shot group out & a gust of wind blew my Chronograph over , WTF , is was a very light breeze up until then. Messed up my Sun Shades , so I removed them & when I fired the first three Honady's , I got some real funny readings from the Chronograph ( I thought I broke it ) , so I put the Sun Shades back on & the first shot fired , my scope moved forward & I couldn't cock the hammer , the magnification ring stopped it . All screws & their holes were degreased & loc-tighted & Torqued to DNZ's spec's , but guess it wasn't enough for a 45-70 . I re-aligned the scope & tightened them to my spec's & shot another three shot group & got some good info from the Chronograph . Remington 300 gr. HPFP Avg. Vel.--- 1867 fps . ES------44 fps SD ----- 18 fps. Hornandy 325 gr. Levolution , flex tip Avg, Vel. ---1995 fps. ( Box reads 2050 FPS, not bad ! ) ES -----50 fps. SD -----20 fps. The Hornady I would say at this time , shot the most consistent , but the Remington had two shots in the same hole & I had to shoot more Hornady , because of the problem with the Chrono. & the scope. I can say That the Hornady ammo is MOA & so may be the Remington. I would hunt with both of these , no problem at all & They way this rifle shoots with this ammo , my not even reload for it at this time , I will just buy another box of Hornady & be done with it . I'm not even sure I can make ammo better shooting then this , in this rifle or better yet , to reason the purchase of reloading equipment & components to reload them. Dave ,my spotter said the same thing . Was a fun day. I found a Hammer extension at Gander & installed it , needed that . My Spotter , Dave told me where to look for them , he knew right where they were .
  15. It would be more fun just getting 168 gr. ammo & shooting it like they said . The AR 10 should not need any upgraded parts to function . <thumbsup> Now as far as a Shotgun is concerned , most are picky on what ammo they like , some will not shoot the low stuff with out spring changes & some will eat any thing . Mostly when its talked about breaking in a firearm , its about breaking in the Barrel , not the action. I was an Class one & Three FFL for twenty years & if I sold someone a firearm that didn't function right out of the box , no matter type of firearm, it would go back to the Manufacturer , for repair or replacement . I understand about mass production & once in a while ( if your a good Manufacturer ) you may have one or ten , have function problems . Nature of mass manufacturing , be it a supplier or the CO. itself , but that's why they have a Warranty. Why as a consumer, should anyone do the work of the Manufacturer , if it needs high $$ ammo to get it to function or what ever , its their product , let them get it to function properly , like it should leaving their production facility. <dontknow>
  16. Good deal on their 18" barrel , but I can't tell what gas system its using , looks like Carbine , but could be a Mid system , so what are they ?
  17. Nothing wrong with that , but there is more to it than that . The cannelure is there for a good crimp for some high pressure or normal pressure loads , as to keep the bullet in place from recoil . Almost all MilSpec ammo has them & they are crimped & sealed , but that's a MilSpec for ammo . If neck tension is too loose ( reloaded brass ), Bullets can become unseated in the Magazine upon recoil . I use a Taper crimp on almost all my 308 loads , mainly because the Bullets I use do not have Cannelures , but I will use the Taper crimper even if they do.To me a Taper Crimp also uniforms the case mouth against the Bullet , in case it has any imperfections from the reloading procedures. Also a Bullets configuration ( Olgave ) can be a determining factor in bullet seating depth & the Cannelure is a good reference on where to seat the Bullet to keep it from touching the Lands in the rifling . May not be a problem with most bullets seated to a COL for a detachable magazine fed rifle , because the Magazine will determine the Max. COL.. , but something to take into consideration . There's a lot to this reloading stuff <thumbsup>
  18. I agree with the above & it was well said . I have printed some of my best groups with Remington brass , but mostly use LC once fired , because of its less expensive in bulk .
  19. Seems to me he is comparing shooting between a 5.56 rifle & a 308. There will be a big difference in recoil & follow up shots will not be the same as with the smaller caliber rifle , with any trigger set up you use. Seems normal to me .
  20. I find Armalite's response troubling , what did they use to test fire it , a proof test round ? Their response makes no sense to me at all , use 155-175 gr. loads , when they know most will use 147 - 150 gr. ammo , which would be Milspec ammo . Yes , they may be treating this as an isolated incident , as far as a short stroking rifle. Is the barrel marked for 7.62 x 51 or 308 ? I have built many rifles in the past , both 5.56 & 7.62 & never had to use a heavy or high pressure load for them to function , but this is a Factory rifle & not a Custom rifle , so mass production will have is good & bad days . Hope it works out for you. I hope you mean 7.62 mm
  21. No matter what make pistol it is , you still have to pull the Trigger ! Just because someone is in LE , doesn't mean they are proficient with firearms handling .
  22. What , the poor Cowgirls haven't been in the the play offs since 2009 , wow that is a long time . Need to look at some of the other teams & see how long they have been with out play offs . All the $$$ that asshat puts into his " America's Team " he should be crying . <lmao> It only takes one bad call to change the momentum of these close games & there just seems to be too many now a days .
  23. You can tell if its going to be a compressed load ( or close ) just by looking in the case after charging & I have pulled bullets from compressed loads & the bases sometimes have powder on them . Mark the level of the powder ,outside of a powder charged case & hold the bullet next to it at the level it would be seated at & you can tell if it is going to be compressed. Is this a max loading for this powder bullet combo ? Never start at the Powders max charge wt., unless you like living on the edge . Different manufactures brass will most likely have different case volumes & what may be a safe load in one may not be in another . It also applies to a charge being compressed in one manufactures case & may not be , in another .
