  1. Did you try the FCG with out the Safety installed & did it function correctly ? If it did , just stone a little off the tail of the Trigger where it meets the Safety selector . I've had to do a couple of them , One of my 5.56 Carbines needed to be tweaked ( a little stoning ) after installing a B.A.D. Safety selector.( with out Cerakote on the selector barrel )
  2. I'll wait for the range report <thumbsup>
  3. Most who prefer fixed power scopes , are using the KISS principle," Keep It Simple Stupid " less moving components in a fixed power scope , one less thing to go wrong or come out of adjustment & there is some merit to it . Although that may be out dated with todays scopes , for the most part. You do get what you pay for , but that doesn't mean you need to spend more for your scope than for your rifle , to get good results . I have spent many years trying to break scopes while hunting ( along with all the hunters I know ) & that includes many drops , even from tree stands & if you buy a quality scope , you can't go wrong . I see some show there product or the ones they believe in , using it like a hammer, trying to screw it up in some way , well its good show ,but I don't buy scopes to use as a hammer & don't need to pay the extra cash for a duel purpose scope , when I can use a rock , if I need a hammer , if you get what I mean. <dontknow>
  4. His measurements of the cartridge height from the lower receiver to top base of brass case is close ( real close ) to the same measurement I got on my CMMG lower receiver & Pmags did not work , many FTF with every mag . All steel mags worked flawlessly , so those couple of thousands of an inch , made a difference between working & not working . Any angle of feed , out of a certain spec. may cause problems . Yes , these rifles are forgiving , but get out of spec's with certain components & problems arise . Feeding a long cartridge into the chamber is one of them , sure you have some play or forgiveness , but don't push it , these are the things that can happen . I struggled with this problem or like this problem , for quite some time before I discovered the very small window , what a magazine seating , in the lower receiver , will accommodate, for flawless operation of the rifles feeding system . If the chamber is within spec's & head spaces correctly & all bolt components are within specs , the only other thing to cause feeding problems , is the magazine. Sure there could be some off the wall out of spec fitment or manufacturing out of spec problems with the upper & lower receivers , but those are far & few any more , not saying we haven't seen them here, just not seen much , if at all . Yes, install the factory extractor spring & try that out also . Actually , try the rifle out with the PMag & that factory Extractor spring first just to see if there is a difference .
  5. I don't see why you couldn't use the Armilite BCG in your Areo receiver , as long as the bolt head spaces correctly . I think the main difference is the different threads on the barrel nuts /Receivers , but there still could be fitment problems using different manufacturers platforms parts. Just remember , there are no standards for these rifles , like AR 15/16 family , if you use one manufacturers parts for a build , you have the best chance of having no fitment problems , but don't bet your life on it . You are still building a rifle & putting yourself in the realm of being a seasoned gunsmith. Problems can arise & you will need to deal with them . Just not like buying a factory rifle & letting the warranty take care of it .
  6. Looks like a subdued woodland camo pattern . I have been using camo for a great many years for hunting ( bow & gun ) & I have yet to see a camo pattern that is good for all terrain & back drops or seasonal changes . I use probably four or five different configurations , depending on the season or where I hunt or if I'm in a tree stand or on the ground /still hunting . Seems a lot of camo patterns are too dark or light from a distance. We will see how this works out & for how long . I know you can't carrie a bunch of camo patterns in your back pocket , but how many different ones have come out in such a short time for the military , too many , too much wasted time & money .That seems the norm any more , just waste money that could be used to keep some of the Officers they are giving the boot to .
  7. Ya !
  8. If it was any one else , I wouldn't have believed it . A 9MM , wow.
  9. One of you love sick AR 10 owners , post a photo of an AR 10 BCG . <thumbsup> Does it have the F/A in the same as the Areo & does the BC look like an AR 15/16
  10. I mentioned that before, check to make sure the Ejector or Extractor is forcing the cartridge to one side & not letting it feed into the chamber . I would disassemble the Bolt & clean & inspect for any thing that might cause them to bind . Just manipulating them should tell you something . Try the new mags you are getting & go from there . I believe the cartridge base doesn't seat onto the extractor until the cartridge seats in the chamber , the Ejector is putting pressure on the base while feeding & if the Extractor is not in the cartridges bases extractor grove , it should be putting a nullifying pressure or force against the pressure or force from the Ejector, so the round should feed straight into the chamber ,with out it getting cocked to one side or the other from those opposing forces , if you follow my thinking . I moved from NE Ohio ten years ago , I lived in the Cleveland area.
  11. You gave a hint in the song lyrics you posted , so it was easy after that & I was too lazy to look up the prier name for it . You really didn't ask for the scientific name , so I win ! Now what did I win , better be good I thought for a whole 10 sec., for the answer. <laughs>
  12. It looks like they have positioned the forward assist on there 308 the same as on a std . AR 15 . The AR 15/16 Bolt Carrier has notches on the lower right side for forward assist to catch on , where most 308 ( not sure on an AR 10 ) the forward assist catches on a lip on the Bolt Carrier. If ( as in the Areo ) the F/A is designed on the same place as the AR 15 type Receiver , the Bolt Carrier needs some notches like the AR 15/16 Bolt carrier . If not , the FA has nothing to grab to use it . Unless Areo makes there own 308 Bolt Carrier with notches like the AR 15/16 . This photo shows where the F/A on my DPMS contacts the Bolt carrier. Heres a photo where you can see the F/A contacting the Bolt Carrier & one with no assist engaged This a early DPMS upper & others may be different , if you get the Areo & use a DPMS or some others ( my Shadow Ops is the same way ) Bolt Carrier , they don't have the notches , like the AR 15/16 Bolt carrier , the Areo F/A will not work .
  13. Wonder which would take the temperature better , Ceracoat ?
  14. And the little red truck is used for transporting loading components between stations ? <lmao>
  15. Well the OP said this chamber head spaced correctly & will take him at his word & it feeds by hand & fires , so we can assume the chamber is OK . Now as was noted above , the extractor is not in the Cartridge base grove & that could be because of how it was fed ( slowly by hand ? ) If I see any kind of lip or step on a feed ramp , they get altered & polished , but I see that mostly on AR 15"s with miss matched M4 ramp & non M4 barrel extensions . The brass doesn't seem to have the telltale makes of a bad angle feed , because these 308's will almost bend a round in half & I always see the locking lug makes on the brass , so I believe the round may be going in farther into the chamber before stopping & with the round not positioned into the extractor , it could wedge in the chamber . Notice in one photo the cartridge on the right is bent , but look at the dents in the brass. Here's how I measured the inserted mag. /with ammo , this is in a DPMS lower , I didn't have a mag release in the CMMG & didn't feel like looking for one .
  16. But he wants to build , just like us . <thumbsup> I think my sickness has become terminal , I have four builds in various stages & only one in a 308 platform. <dontknow>
  17. That's why photos are so important & that's why I asked for some , I don't like the looks of your chambered brass , but new barrel , who knows You say this barrel head spaced correctly, with the correct & known good gage & which gages did the bolt lock into battery with ? Will a full 308 cartridge hand ( just your hand , no BCG ) feed into the chamber with out forcing it in ( you can separate the upper from the rifle ) ? I use dummy hand loads for this or use a dummy cartridge <thumbsup> The round will feed up the ramp , but fail to completely chamber & lock into battery for firing , is this correct ? Are the ejector & extractor , in your bolt free to move & not sticking ? I'm just trying to get on the right track here , no offense . And to think I just found the mag height measurements I was looking for & don't think they are needed now. you have other problems. <laughs> I will post them any way , let all of you figure it out . Measurements were taken with a fully loaded magazine ( 20rds in The PMag & 19 in the DPMS ) I measured from the flat ledge or deck of the lower receiver to the upper top of the cartridge case base( I will take a photo if you are not sure how I'm measuring ) . One measurement was with the magazine brand in a DPMS lower Receiver & another in a CMMG lower that has had problems feeding with one manufacturers magazine . LR/PMag CMMG Lower 0.396" CProd. CMMG lower 0.405" DPMS CMMG lower 0.403 " LR/PMag DPMS lower 0.422" CProd. DPMS lower 0.454" DPMS DPMS lower 0.456 " As you can see the lowers have the magazine at different heights . May not seem like much , but it kept one of the magazines from working properly, since it was only the one manufacturers magazine that didn't work , it shows you it doesn't take much to get out of spec's to cause failures . I do not in any way blame the Manufacturers , CMMG was made years before the LR/PMag .
  18. Any photo's of the FTF Or a cartridge that failed ?
  19. Its hard to tell comparing the different rifle feed ramps , but Washguy' cartridge , when on the left of the mag. looks higher up . Could be just the angle of the photo's . Have you loaded one round & fire it , does it hold back with the bolt stop on the empty mag.. When you insert a empty mag in the rifle & pull the charging handle all the way back , does the bolt catch engage & hold the BCG back ? If the Bolt carrier is striping the round out the mag. instead of the bolt , this will also cause FTF.
  20. So , this was some kind of test to make fun of us, well I think it sucks , you trying to make us look stupid . Your on a 308 web sight & you scam us with a 50 cal. Ya I'm laughing , troll. I see we are having a lot of these Troll's on this sight , now a days . Hope you had fun with your little trick & if it helps you sleep at night , we were all just trying help .

  22. He's using PMag's , so I wouldn't recommend any feed lip manipulation <laughs> I'm still looking for my measurements showing the feed height from the deck of the lower receiver , I have them & photo's some where . I did see that at one point I pre-loaded the PMags the day before a range trip & they seemed to work with them fully loaded over night , but found that after that they FTF . If I remember correctly (I need to find the measurements I took ), that the was a 0.011" difference on how high the PMag & DPMS mag's seated in the CMMG Lower receiver. The Pmags sat lower, when measured from the flat deck of the lower to the top surface of the base of a loaded cartridge case when loaded in the inserted mag... I can take the measurements again , if I don't find them . I looked a little for that thread I made on this subject, to no avail . Will keep looking . Its all about the process of elimination , the different Magazine manufacturer try is easy & inexpensive. Could we have some photo's of your feed ramps ? Since you feel so highly of my recommendations , I recommend you all give me your 308AR's for my pleasure . >:D
  23. Amazing !
