I built/bought all of my nice bikes by hustling old bikes, but it's a skill that can't really be taught on a forum. You need to be intimately familiar with value of parts, and know where to find customers. It's the same way I built my rifles. Broke ass folks gotta hustle to have nice stuff!

Bike depreciation is brutal. My $4800 Jamis only cost me $2400 because it was a dealer sample that had never been ridden. I modded it pretty heavy and sold it for $1800 less than 2 years later...and I considered it a good deal. bikepedia.com is a great reference for original value. If you think light easy trail riding will be the extent of your biking, a $500 factory fresh hard tail is the best bet.

Mine runs flawless and smooth as butter on brass. I tried it with herters steel that day at the range. The first shot stuck in the chamber and I had to morter it out. Pulled the mag and burnt in in the SPR instead. The dissy I built for my father and law has no problem with steel and I used the same barrel. Might try to polish chamber up in mine to see if it helps.

Talking about the new/low DPMS LR308 height. They lowered it so standard AR gas blocks and FSBs would work better. If this G2 thing turns out to be a gimmick, they may have shot themselves in the foot. If it is reliable and catches on...the may have just changed the 308 game. Time will tell.

For the record..the new DPMS pattern is the same height over bore as a standard 5.56 gun..I think it was a good call. Probably should have been that way from the start instead of just copying the SR25 height. At least there wouldn't have been all the confusion about what sights work with what.

Every year my brother in law rents a huge house on mission beach for the whole family. In the past I've spent a week with my family up north, and then a week on the beach. Totally free. This year I had to take a pass because I just can't bring myself to look past the states politics. Id rather no vacation, than free CA vacation.

Agree. My middy 18" has factory everything and a spikes comp. Runs fantastic. Recoil is just fine. I don't plan to swap out any of those parts.

I have a couple year old NM and she's about done. Won't hold at the second stage for more than a few seconds before popping back to rest. Sometimes skips it altogether and feels like a single.
