I'v been working with ctg a lot , recently. After 40 years of "other things". Worked with it in the 70's, for a while.
My wife is planning on hunting a bison, next year, and so I bought her a sharps 45-70.
From the bench, I can't tell much difference in recoil between the 600 grainers and the 385 grainers. 6oo at @ 1300fps, the 385 at @1600.

SS, I have shot 2 deer with the 385's, both mule deer does. one dropped where shot, one walked 2 steps. R ange on both was under 100 yds. The closer one was the one that walked two steps.
Velocity was @ 1600 fps. No gas check.

Blue,,,,, That is oh so true!!!!!
Did you know that their are NO(!!!!!) rules, regulations, or laws on who can call themselvs a :gunsmith"????
OK.............. time for me to get off my soapbox!LOL!!

Just a reminder lead bullets, at the same velocity as jacketed, have MUCH less recoil!
Its harder to push the jacketed bullet through the bbl.

My younger brother's Father in law didn't believe in banks. They found money stashed between the pages of books, and in coffee cans in the garage, and! believe it or not, burried in the back yard!!!!!
He had to buy a metal dector to find some of it!!!! Came to about $30,000 that he had burried! And! they are not sure they found it all!!!LOL!!!!

Offhand, I'd say its sub-par steel.

PS, After cleaning my hunting equ and putting it away, I found out 10 months later, that I had forgotten to clean one of my custom Bob Loveless hunting knives! The blade was covered with blood and elk fat!
A little hot water and dish soap and 5 minutes later, it was back to a mirror finish!
Knife ws made out of ATS 34. one of the first of that steel that Bob had made.
Plain and simple, the 30-06. Ammo everywhere, and a bullet for everything.
OH! Michael, my wife is planing on shooting a bison, next year. The ranch people said anything over a 270, BUT! No remington ammo!!!!!!!
They have had problems with remington ammo not working well on the bison.

I guess I'm just unlucky!
I'v needed the fa on 4 rifles, only had them on 3. 3 were 223's ( ammo was out of spec) and one was a 30 HRT. The hrt was my fault, I didn't full length size my brass. That was a good learning experience!
I won't build another without the fa.

Ok, now I'v gotten some sleep, and am not so toiuchy,LOL!
Its all word games! I don't think it confuses the subject, I think it clarifies oit.
Yes, the part is mil spec TO THE AR15. But since there are NO mil specs for the 308, it can't be mil spec to the 308.
Does that clarify my statement ????

I have been informed, several times, by members of this board, that the 308 platform has NO MILSPECS. Was I mis-informed? Are their mil specs for the 308?
Please clarify, befor I make another mistake.
