  1. OK, lets think, Firing once should loosen the PP, not tighten it. two, Federal primers are smaller than most of the others so, the should seat easier..three, primers "clipping" the edge of the PP says, to me, that maybe something is out of alingnment in the primer tool. Dosen't make any difference WHO made the primer tool, it could still be out of spec. Do you have any other way of priming a few cases to check things out? I'v seen similar things with out of spec primer tools. Respectfully Terry OH! CCi are the largest in diameter out there, with Winhester and remington are probably tied as the smallest.
  2. Looks real nice!
  3. Two thoughts. One, you over reamed the cases. I NEVER ream cases, I swedge them, when necessary. Two, a few kernals of powder hung up in the powder measure, and dropped with the next charge. Respectfully Terry I just noticed you are using Hornaday match brass. That should not need PP reaming. Second, How often do you check the weight of the powder dropped from your measure?
  4. Whats IMR 4166?
  5. Picked up a Savage 99, made in 1954. Cal 250 Savage! OH!!!! and an S&W mod 19 made in /64!LOL!!
  6. Found 4# of Unique at the lcoal gun shop!
  7. I didn't notice ATS 34 in your list of steel?
  8. You can MAIL your gun to YOURSELF, at your buddys address!!! Totally legal, and insurable! I'v done it 4 times for friends, 2 to Georgia, and 2 to to flordia. Respectfully Terry
  9. Scored 3# of varget , and 3# of 4227! Terry
  10. Many years ago, a friend turned me on to : Start the bullet in the case, lower the ram, turn the ctg case 180*, and finish seating. Dosen't take long, and makes run-out and seatting deapth much more consistant. Respectfully Terry
  11. Wash,,, I'm 68. how young are you???LOL!!!! Respectfully Terry
  12. I just wonder how most of you guys store your powder. We ( the 308 group) go through a fair amount, and I wonder how you store your supply. I found out, years ago, that powder stored under @40*F degrads, and so does powder stored above @120*F. So, I took the inards out of an old refegerator, and store my powder in that. I have that in my shop. that stays between 45-85* . I'v got some powder that is over 30 years old, and just as good today as the day I bought it. The front of the door has a large sign that says, " DANGER GUNPOWDER" . I like Acurate Arms powder, but wont use any except RL15, and 4477 which are temp. stable. So??? How do you store yours? Respectfully Terry
  13. If I may rejoin the conversation? Sounds to me like the bbl is over-gassed, and the chamber needs to be polished. just my 2 cents. Respectfull Terry
  14. Sorry. I got part of the way through, and blew a gaskett.
  15. What the HELL? Do you guys expect the gunsmith to work for NOTHING?????? To fire the ammo, he first has to go to the range, set up, then shoot, take everything down, and go back to the shop! Thats an easy 2 1/2 to 3 hours! Who pays for that?????? I'd bet that the least of you are payed at least $30 dollars an hour. And. I would guess.most a lot more!!!!! 30 years ago, I had to make AT LEAST $150 an hour, just to keep the doors open. I'd hate to guess what it would take today. So, get off the gunsmithes god dammed back, and think befor you start flamming! Terry
  16. When I went in for my aortic valve replacement, the Dr. reccommended bovine. Told him I wanted mine from a Spanish fighting bull!! PS, in reference to Slugger's post.
  17. Get the remington! lot of good benchrest guns were made on Remington actions, and you can tinker with it to you hearts content. Respectfully Terry PS Yes I was around, I ignored the thread. T.
  18. I am confused with you need for "same hole groups:, at 800 yards. Do you really mean that you want you groups to be in the ,1" and ,2 " at 800 yds? I'm going to stick my neck out and say that that is almost immpossible to do repedadly! Once in a blue moon, yes, repedadly? No. A 4" group, at 800 meters would be .2" at 100 yards. So, really,,,,,,what is it you want? Respectfully Terry
  19. I'm thinking of ordering a Ranier bbl, with polygonal rifiling. Got one in 7.62X40 wilson. Really like how it shoots. Respectfully Terry

  23. I haven't had this problem with my 220 elite, but she has only had 220 grain Hornady critical duty, and led 200 grain cone nose, over 6.5 grains of unique. Respectfully Terry
  24. OK. This is a rather commen follower problem. The follower is tipping down, causing the ctg to nose dive into the front of the mag. The problem is easily "fixed" in the 1911's by replacing the followers with an anti-tip follower. I don't know if there are after market followers for the Sig, though. It is SOMETIMES caused by to heavy of a recoil spring, though that isn't as commen. Respectfully Terry
