  1. An interesting subject! I wish we had more med professionals to help us. I'm going to talk to a critical care nurse friend of mine, and see if we can get more professional opinions. Hard, here in Durango, as there just aren't that many shootings. Respectfully Terry
  2. Veeeeeeeeeeeeery interesting! Not at all l what I'd been lead to expect! Respectfully Terry
  3. loaded a thousand rounds of 45ACP, practice ammo 200gr lead slug. Respectfully Terry
  4. I don't think "the rule" should apply to anacouments of new products. Respectfull Terry
  5. I'v been waiting for Robo to get into this. In my years in the retal gun business, I v had a LOT of cals from people who ave been Burgled.Mosy wanted me to appraise guns that had been stolen. OK, whats the make , model, and serial number? I ask UH, it was a 30-06, I think, and had a long bbl. was a commen answer. I'm sorry, I replied, I can't appraise something withot a good description. It has been also my experience that most burgleries are not commited by por's. Most were kids, druggies, and on one occasion, a oppertunty presented itself because a large Christmas tree, with a TON of presents under it was promenently desplayed in the front window!!!!! Law enforcement is somwhat different. I'v known officers whose houses were broken into by perps that had been arrested by the officer. So, as someone who is somewhat knowalegable in the operation, most burgliers are commeted at random chance, mostles by young offenders, and drug addicts. they don't have a lot of time to look for hidden things, but ARE aware of the most commen hiding places. So, to summerise, most burglieries are random acts, by young or desperate offenders. It does not take much to stop them. ANY safe is better than NO safe. I have an OLD cannon 55 downstairs, state of the art in the 70's, pretty crude by todays standards, combo lok takes a while to get into. up stairs is a cheep=o stack-on key lock safe. I keep the self defense guns, the ones I might have to get into fast. Key is faster than combo, but not nearley as safe. If I'm away over-night, or for an extended time, everything gets locked in the Cannon. Any safe is better than No safe, up-grade as possible. Respectfully Terry
  6. Sounds great, Shibi!!!!! I'v always been attrcted to the "other" cals! Respectfully Terry
  7. My wife just bought 20 more mgas for her predator 308. Respectfully Terry OH! and, she just ordered a bbl for the 45 raptior.
  8. When Sierra was in Calif, they sold thier seconds over the counter, to the plubic. By the pound. Did some math, they were selling the seconds at dealer cost! Good for the public, bad for thier stocking dealers. Dealer dosen't make a profit, dealer dosen't last long in business. Now that I'm not in the business, I buy from my local gun shop. Sure, I could get a lot of things a little cheaper, from my old suppliers, But some things I can't get, so I want to make sure my local dealer stays in business. Not slammin anyone, just another prospective. Respectfully Terry
  9. That self defense stuff i like a buck a round!
  10. Just go for it!
  11. Are you "following" the charging handle down? or letting the bolt slam home from the locked position? Respectfully Terry
  12. I had stopped carring my 1911-22 for a while, untill I could really give it a work out. After 2 ,000 rounds, the only problems I'v had was with the crappy Remington bulk ammo. Respectfully Terry
  13. I usually just stuff mine in the top of my boot. Respectfully Terry
  14. I thought you just went to all that work??? Respectfully Tery
  15. I was wondering when someone was going to catch that!   :auto: :auto: T.
  16. DVD sounds good! But its a "hard"copy,LOL!!
  17. I like paper! Stuff I can hold!LOL!! Also, I'm a computer luddite. I barley know enough to turn on the computer. Also am dyslex, add, and bi-polar, as you can tell by my spelling and typing. Spelling rules just don't make sense to me, and float out of my head like vapor. I did use a back-up, but the same virus that locked the on board hard drive, also fried the back up. I backed up things, as my wife showed me, not knowing I was transfering the virus to the back up untill I tried to boot it up. So, anything un-replacable I now print into hard copy! Maybe you an tell, my "a" key is sticking today,LOL!! Respectfully Terry
  18. Digital? Really? ??? ever loose a hard drive? Just had it stop, or corrupted by virus? I have. lost a years worth of work on a book I was writing. Come on, you all know, or have had a drive "go bad". on another note. Since I insure my guns, I go over them once a year (or more) and re-list my guns. Then I duplicate it, send a copy to my insurance company, and another to myself.Certified mail, so there can be NO descrepensies with what my guns are worth. Respectfully Terry
  19. Personally, I'd go with the 1911 in 45ACP. I knew a police officer in So.Calif (20 years ago) who put down a black bear with one shot from his .45. Respectfully Terry
  20. After being in the retail gun business, and getting god knows how many calls from people who bought guns fome me looking for the serial numbers, ALL my guns are listed on a book that is the type dealers use for ffl transations. make, model, serial number cal,who I bought it from, and how much, and ( seldom) if I sell one, who I sold it toand how much. Now, for the mea culpa. About 20 years ago, about 5 years after I had moved to Durango, but long befor it became "californiasied" I had just returned home after 12 hours at the range, during our public "sight in days". As I unloaded my truck, I realised I had left my Ruger #1 7X57 at the range! Blast back to the range, and find my rifle "tucked" into the gun rack, but hidden inside an "I" beam that supported the roof, and the gun rack. Just where I had left it. It really couldn't be seen, unless you knew it was there. Not saying that would be so, today, but it was 20 years ago, and the LAST time I ever left anything at the range! In the last 5 years or so, we've had a few things left at the range. Spotting scopes, screwdriver kits, and yes, a couple of guns. Everything got returned to the right person, except one handgun. And we had a pretty good idea who took that! Accidents happen! Wright those seril numbers down!!! Respectfully Terry
  21. First gun bought should be a 22. Just my 2 cents. Respectfully Terry
  22. First of all. a bear, even a big one, is easy to kill if hit in the right place. Second, they are VERY hard to kill if hit in the wrong place! A. get a GOOD 22 pistol. and 4 or 5 THOUSAND rounds of ammo. B. Shoot all the 22 ammo, then re-visit the big bore pistol. Respectfully Terry
  23. In the 1930's Springfield Arsenel( the real one) made a batch of extremely accurate bbls. Turned out one of the rifiling machines had slipped a gear, and made a batch of 1-11 bbls. The Gvts "fix"??? Destroy all the 1-11 bbls and re-set the machine to 1-10. Respectfully Terry
  24. When we moved from California to Colorado, I never ,in the world, imagined how difficult making a living would be!!!! Formally being in the retail gun business, I guess, but it was still HARD!!!!! Sold almost 35 guns, but really only regret 3. My 4" 29-2 that came from the factiory with my inatials on it, An old mod 70 I re-did to 7X57, and a mod 21 Win, 20 ga. Never again! Respectfully Terry
  25. Hornady 6.5 creedmore factory has shot many .250" groups for my buddy in his bolt gun.. My .260 is right in there with handloads. Respectfully Terry
