  1. Actully, Mtn Lion is quite tasty! One of our local outfitters entered a local food comp. and came in first with his tornados of lion in a raspary chipolty sause! Respectfully Terry
  2. Many years ago, when I owned a retail shop I gave a 270 to a friend to work up loads. New Win cases, IMR 4350, and CCI 200 LR primers. A couple of weeks later, he brought the rifle back. Best load? 55.5 grains of 4350 with a 130 grain old style Nosler 130 grain bullet, and MAG primers! Shot just under an inch at 100.. Since then, I'v learned to use mag primers in any of the '06 variants ( 25-06, 270 etc) and whenever using ball powder. In the 308, I'm still experimenting with loads, but any ball powder gets the Mag primer. They just help the ball powder burn cleaner. Respectfully Terry
  3. Try a 165g bullett with 40-42 grains of Varget. Respectfully Terry
  4. My wife offered to buy me 338LM, but I had too pass. I don't think my bad shoulders would take the reciol. So, She bought me a pair of S&W M29 44's. A 4" and a 6".     :auto: :auto: :auto: Respectfully Terry
  5. Not to knock Serrias, but I'v been watching, and taking, Elk for the last 25 years in the mountians of south west Colorado. Sierras either go completly through, like a solid, or destruct, nearly on impact. Use a PREIMUN bullett, Noslers, Swift, Barnes, etc. The bullet is a VERY small part of the cost of the hunt. It only makes siense to use the best. I'v shot literally hundreds of thousands of Sierras over the last 50 years. For accuracy, their the best. For hunting, not so much. Respectfully Terry ADD: Its the first bullett from a COLD bbl that matters! Not the tenth. Make sure you know where the FIRST bullet goes. T.
  6. Those grains look crushed from being compressed. No telling what powder it is. Respectfully Terry
  7. several progressives! Terry
  8. A s I shoot the S&W 15-22, I'm growing to like it more and more! No ftf;s of any kind, and it seems accurate, too! Respectfully Terry
  9. To my everlasting shame, I was never allowed to enter the armed services. I tried to enlist back in '66, and was told my hearing was so bad, it would endanger my fellow squad mates. I tried the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and National Guard. All turned me down. I would love to be able to salute the flag, and other vetrans, but cannot. My greatest respect to all the vetrans out there. Terry
  10. Did you sell this?
  11. The man isn't human!!!!!
  12. Are they near the La Brea tar pits? T.
  13. Yes, a lot of us are interested in once fired brass. Especially good brass. Terry
  14. Well, I'd be interested in 1,000 rounds, if you want to sell some. Even 2,000. Respectfully Terry
  15. This man should be listed as a national treasure!!! Respectfully Terry
  16. Time is not money, if your doing something you like, for yourself. And, a whole lot better than the boob tube! Unless they had a whole lot more boob on them!LOL! It would be different if you were trying to re-load for profit. Just my two cents. Respectfully Terry
  17. I'd say you guys had potty brains, but I not sure there is a cup of brains between all of you!   :auto: :auto: Respectfully? Terry
  18. My wife has had a solo for two or three years now. Its a great little gun! About 8oo rounds threw it, and NO failures of any kind! Respectfully Terry

  21. Each of the compounts are important, both indivualy and together. I'v seen bulletts , the same bullets, from different lots, shoot to different points of impacts, and different group sizes. Mixed lots of brass cam make for much larger groups. Same with different lots of powder. Even primers make a difference! many years ago, I built a 218 improved bee on a small Martini action. only brass I could get was primed remington. Best load I could work up would shoot inch and a half.used remington primers, cause thats what the brass came with. talked with a friend ,and loaded up the same componutes, except with CCI primers. 3/4" group. You have to make sure that ALL your componuts are the same. Respectfully Terry
  22. Depending on the bullet. .55 - .65 cents a round. My LAR8 RR 260 Rem that I put together has NEVER had a factory round through it! I bought a large number of compounts about 4 years ago. Hate to think what it will cost to replace them. Or if the same compounts are even going to still be available! Respectfully Terry When I was in the business, I used to figgure the cost of reloads to be @ 1/2 of new ammo. Most were a little less, depending on componuts used.
  23. My wife and I have 2 10/22 nd a S&W AR15-22. going to get another 10/22 next month. Both in the safe are blue steel and wood, going to get a stainless and plastic stock. Was thinking about the new take down 10/22, or A Mag Research carbon fiber bbl one. The S&W hasent had a bobble, but its so light that I'm afraid I'll break it/LOL I'v got almost 10,000 rounds of various 22's on hand, and try not to go below 8,000. But a couple of times in the last few years I was down to my mim of 5 ,000 rounds. Wife and I try to get to the range twice a week, but are averaging about 1 and a half, right now. Shoot at least 150 rounds each when we go. in addition to whatever else we shoot that day. Respectfully Terry
  24. Next time try Brownells Accrglas gel. Much better than JB weld! Respectfully Terry
