What if price isn't a consideration??? Respectfully Terry

One thing to consider!!! Many states limit the number of rounds you can have in a hunting rifle. Cali. If I rember correctly, is 5. So is Colorado. Respectfully Terry

Had one when they first came out. Stuttered a little with some of the surpless ammo, was machined a little to tight to be comparied to an AK. Accurate, though( well, as accurate as the ammo was.LOL) All in all, a nice little gun, but I prefered my M-1 carbine. Respectfully Terry ( disclamer) I haven't really touched one in 25 years. T

That was my daughter.s favorite gun, growing up. Gave her one for her 8th birthday. She left it, and all her other guns with her mom and I when she moved to the land of fruits and nuts ( San Francisco) a few years back. Still love her greatly, and miss her. Terry

Congrats! Way to go! Terry

I don't understand the referance to 1911's. I'v seen hundreds that shot well out of the box, and did so for years, As a custom smith, most of the work I did on 1911's were t make the gun more accurate, or taylor it to the customers demands. Respectfully Terry

Anyone want a 260 Remington and/or 338 Fed LAR 8 Upper?
Tripledeuce replied to 600hpSBC's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
Yes, I might be interested, what brand of bbl, and cost? Terry -
Remingtons were NEVER involved with the cracked reciever problem, Springfield Arsenel under 800,000. or Rock Island under 300,000. Respectfully Terry

Long story short. Wife and I spent the weekend in Denver, with some friends. He is a forensic Pathologist, she works as his aid. Known him @ 10 years, and been trying to get him to carry for 9 of those years. He has the permit and everything. Finally realised that the " reasion" He didn;t carry, is that he is anal about keeping his "things" in "nice" condition, which as we all know, just dosen't happen when you carry something every day. Found a Taylor tatical M1911 45 acp, new in the box for $500! Bought it, gave it to him! Told him $500 was so cheep, he didn.t need to worry about it! Now he carrys. Went to the rarnge to practice draw and fire. Told him, " Slow is fast." I made him draw and fire in slow motion, untill he automaticly started to get faster, as muscles "rembered" what to do. I may have to go to Denver, once a month or so, untill he's got things down. Small price to pay when it comes to maybe saving a life. I tuned it up, and put 500 rounds through it, to make sure it worked, dammed thing exceeded every expication I had. Respectfully Terry

Carefull of the heavy cylinder! Those small chambers mean a LOT of momentem when the cyl turns.Pull the hammer back fast, and the cly lock gets loose, or broken in a hurry! Had that problem with the old Hi-Hunters, back in the 0's. Respectfully Terry -
Yes, the bolt is the same, just the carrier is different. Respectfully Terry

Most loading manules have a little star or dot next to the most accurate load in thier test bbl. Again, most are among the lower limits of the charge ratio. I Usually start i grain under the "manuels best load> Whatever that is,and try to eliminate excessive wear on the rifle. Respectfully Terry
-
In a word, YES! But rember, there is a HUGE difference between loading a 17 hornet, and a 50 BMG. Also, with a full grain, you might miss "the sweet spot". Respectfully Terry
-
Work up loads in NO MORE than 1/2 grain increments! One grain is to much of a difference. Benchresters work up in .3 loasd, and refine from there. Respectfull Terry

I have a friend, that for most of his life in the Air Force (35 years) he spent in bomb disposal. He told me that the failure rate on gvt ammo was about 1- 10,000. Inevibality, the failures came from pp holes not pierced, or only partilly pierced. Next time you get a dud, empty the case, and usr a flashlight to look at the primer hole. Your primer, to me, looks only partially burnt. Respectfully Terry Just called my friend, he said the "failure" rate was 1 in 100,000. T.

Just yank the bullet. and re-seat. no need to re-size. Respectfully Terry

Semi. and full auto guns frequently are cut larger in the head deminsion. Thats why the SB dies. They take the case back to SAAMI minimum chamber size. FL dies , often, do not size the base of the ctg enough for the case to fit easly in the chamber. With 25 years owning a retail gunstore, I'v seen it a number of times. Respectfully Terry

Cocked and locked, Just like any 1911! Respectfully Terry

I think " how much" really depends on your location, and shtf planning. Someone living in the middle of downtown Los Angles is going to need diffrent than someone living in Durango ,Colorado. Weapons, vehicles, gas, emergency supplies, all depend on where you need to get to, and from. Or if moving( runnig) is even an opition. Respectfully Terry

OK> Here goes. About 4 years ago, I bought a Kimber ultra carry II. 3 1/2" bbl, short grip. For X-mas, my wife bought me a set of Chrismon Trace lazer grips. As Part of my getting to know the weapon, I ran the falling plates 10 times. 5 each with the lazer and 5 without. With a competion timer, I was consitantly 3/4 of a second SLOWER with the lazer.I ran the test once a week for 4 weeks. Nothing changed. My times were always bettet without the lazer. My wife also tried it, but not as many times as I did. She didn't like the muzzle flip. She does like her Kimber solo, however! Tried a lazer on the solo, her times were consistantly slower with the lazer. Sold both on E-Bay. 3/4 of a second could get me killed. My opinion? Learn your weapon, and the lazer is just a toy. I'm almost afraid to post n opinion.. Respectfully Terry

Respectfully, Sir, I did not inquire about buying your M4, nor any of your other firearms. I was simply respoding to what,, seemed to be a sales pitch. If my post upset you. I aoiigise. I thought everyoe was allowed an opinion. Again, respectfully Terry

To an outsider, who dosen't much care for shotguns, this sounds like a sales pitch for Benelli. Oh! For my creds. Owned and managed a retail gunshop and gunsmithing for 20+ years. Shot shotgun regulary during that tome, also plyed with Cowboy Action shooting. Fired thousands of rounds, over the years. Haven't shot a single round of shotun shells in over 10 years. Respectfully Terry

Nope! Just heart surgery.LOL!! Good luck! I hope your surgen is a great one! Terry
