  3. My daughter will get most of mine. Have it all in writting, in my "family " trust! Several I bought from an old friend that will go back to his grandson. He didn't know the grarndson was interested in them when he sold them to me.LOL!! We both got a good laugh when I told him that I had already made arrangements to get them to the grandson. Respectully Terry
  4. Send it back and get the correct one! Respectfully Terry
  5. The cost of one or two bullets is a very small part of the overall cost of a hunt. Respectfully Terr
  6. My wife uses the 165gr Accubond, by Nosler. Either factory or re=loaded. Works quite well! Respectfully Terry
  7. I would not worry to much about the bbl. Screw it back together, check the headspace, and if OK, then red locktight the hell out of the extension, and let it cure. I would be A LOT more worried about damage to the upper! Check it VERY carefully! Respectfully Terry
  8. As a 'smith of 50+ years, if you want it to work "without reservation", then you need a "standard" chamber, not a match chamber. It sounds to me like the ctg is not releseing the pressure hold on the chamber, befor the bolt starts to move. A "tight" but "standard" chamber would fix that. Respectflly Terry
  9. Mythbusters couldn't find their asses with all four hands! Why, I'll bet they couldn't pour piss out of a boot, with the instructions written on the heel!
  10. Does it have a fusiable link in the electric line? Respectfully Terry
  11. Just go to the .45 and forget the .40!LOL!
  12. My bbl likes 43g of IMR 4350 with a 140 Hornady 140 A-Max. Velocity is 2770. Under 1" at 100, don't have any longer range here. Respectfully Terry PS Sorry i didn't respond earlier. I'm not on every day.
  13. My very first build was putting a DPMS bbl on a RRA upper. Everybody told me it could'nt be done. I'v been a working gunsmith for over 50 years. I checked everything out, put the bbl on the upper, torqued it to 40# and went out and fired it. I found I had to run a finish reamer in the chamber , by hand, as it seems DPMS likes "tight" chambers. Constant feeding failures led me to eventually opening the gas port one drill size. it now functions fine, and accuracy is all I could want. So far, I'v put 3 DPMS bbls on three different RRA uppers. They all shoot fine. Respectfully Terry
  14. I'll lift a glass, for your friend.
  15. JT33, Ask anything! Its not really all that hard. The major differences are the length of the bolt carrier, and the bolt stop. The bolts and bbls are inter-changeable. As long as the headspace is correct. Respectfully Terry
  16. Welcome from Colorado! My past posts pretty well explaine things. I took a regular DPMS bbl and installed it on an otherwise "stock" RRA lar8. Checked headspace, and fired her. Got about 300 rounds down the pipe, now. and no problems. No "fitting" required. I have also installed a DPMS 308 bbl on a RR upper, and a 338 Federal on another. No problems! I did hand run a finishing reamer in all the chambers, DPMS sees to use reamers undersize in the case body. Respectfully Terry
  17. The minute you touch the bbl,you VOID the warrenty! Send it back. Respectfully Terry
  18. Good one!
  19. VERY interesting!!!!
  20. OK, I see where the problem lies! I think!LOL! Hornanadys newest handbook uses throat and freebore as almost interchangable! Their handbook lists fifteen thou ( .o15 ) as the difference between a "short" throat, and a "long" throat. Unless you are setting up the rifle for one specific bullet, a "standard" 6.5 creedmore reamer is probably your best bet. Hornady had mulitiple reamerss ade to test for the best comprimise. Respectfully Terry
  21. "freebore" is usally set at@..625 thou. that is, the bullet never toches the rifiling untill it is free of the case. "Leade", on the other hand, can be set long. for heavy bullets, or short, for light bullets. In other words, if you have a long leade, short bullets may not ever touch the rifiling, while seated in the case. With a short leade, or throat, a heavy bullet may need to be seated deeper in the case. Also, the bullet ojive differs from style of bullet( round nose to spitzer) or even just different weights of the same brand of bullets. Respectfully Terry
  22. I tried one on my Kimber ultra carry II, 45ACP. It slowed my time , on a 5 shot plate rack, by 3/4 of a second. Shot 5 strings, each way. With and without the lazer. Respectfully Terry
  23. Do you really mean freebore, or throat leade? Respectfully Terry
  24. I'm liking the Nikon M308 on my wifes lar 308, Respectfully Terry
