  1. I'm routinely negligent enough to rub my eyes with hot sauce that people say is too hot for human consumption. I've seen inmates sprayed with pepper spray that just blink and that's it. Jon
  2. <thumbsup> Jon
  3. It has been quite awhile since I read up on cryo treatments. IIRC cryo treating does a number of things, chief among them aligning the molecules more tightly. This is the same claim that is made of forging, and hammer forging barrels. The cost isn't much, if a person was to have it done on their own. First and foremost, quality machining makes the biggest difference. Jon
  4. My post evaporated...? I have a friend that was stationed there after the initial operations. He has this thing about bird spiders now. Jon
  5. Thanks unforgiven! Jon
  6. Daily carry? The one that is with me everywhere is presently a Ruger LC9, with two extra mags. Daily go-to? Marlin 1894CSS...nonthreatening, non "black" gun, with some special .357 Magnum loads to negotiate for me, out of a lightweight, very maneuverable carbine. SHTF go-to? Depends! (pun unintended) For some quick attention-getting, the new 930 or the Tri Star Turkey gun...both in the Valentine's Day special love of 12 gauge. Kaos in the streets, as society crumbles? Rock River Operator, i.e., The Freedom Machine! I don't mind sending some dipwad some love down the street before they get to harrassing me in person. Once we fight our way out of the cities, the .22 Long Rifle guns are coming into play. Whatchya got? Jon
  7. Got home from the dojo this evening, and my two boxes of Prvi Pritizan 170gr FMJBT was on the doorstep! Should be able to light some off on Saturday. Jon
  8. I was ACHING for that two-extra mags deal, but couldn't come up with the cash in time. I'm thinking I need an XD-M .45 3.8 Compact now. Jon
  9. I was discussing this with a reloading master of boom-zen. We hypothesized that when primers for centerfire first came out, all they needed was large. As time passed, and cases for smokeless powder got smaller and smaller, they needed a pygmy primer. So now we have two sizes. Certainly they can get the spark hot enough with a small primer to ignite the hardest to light powders. Jon
  10. Good stuff, Roger! Who makes that receiver made in Lexington, KY? Jon
  11. Hopefully when it is done, it will be easy to squeeze a .45 Colt with "Ruger Only" loads into. Jon
  12. 13+13+13+1=40 rounds to go! Would've been nice to have the extra 26 in two extra mags. Well placed head shots on zombies and I should be okay. I should be able to send a few rounds downrange this week! Jon

    Sweet!

Got a good price from a buddy...just wish I had been in possession of the money when Springfield still had the two extra mags for free deal, back in November. Can hardly wait to get to the range! Jon
  14. Glad you are okay! That was a huge shocker, finding sp .45s in my lots. I handprime and separate the smalls. Didn't know they were doing it with .308s also. Any other calibers we don't know about? IMO it would be nice to only have once size on hand. Jon
  15. I was just looking at a ballistics chart a few weeks ago, comparing 10mm to .45acp out of a 6" barrel. The 10mm starts losing ground to the .45 at around 75 yards. But the 10mm has a LOT more to gain from a longer barrel, while the .45 just picks up maybe 100fps. Colt was originally having issues with the 10mm Delta and the constant bashing from the 10mm rounds...I would never consider converting an aluminum framed 1911 to 10mm. Jon
  16. Yup...my understanding is that your high-bid will be charged to you, even if you don't win the auction, on many sites like this one. Jon
  17. Welcome from AZ, 3 oh 3! You'll have some fun around here. Jon
  18. A cargo net and a case of G96 from CTD. Jon
  19. Well...that was easy! ;D What RRA do you have now? Just a lower? Myself and a couple of others here have the Operator by RRA. With the SEI flash hider, you can get one of the SEI sound suppressors. Another option you have (if you have the upper already) is to remove the flash hider that is on there (or thread an unthreaded barrel) and get what you want to put on there. Jon
  20. "Rifle" and "carbine" lengths really are dependent on what period of time we are talking about. Today's carbines are the shortest yet...and so are the rifles. Jon
  21. Right on! Welcome Greywolf36! How about some pics of those build projects? <munch> Jon
  22. Picked up the 930 SPX today. Pics to follow! Jon
  23. Welcome MAGTIKI!! That is sweet! Doing a father/son project is very cool and something you will always remember. Jon
  24. 20" is what's on the Freedom Machine and I like it. POF doesn't list anything between 16.5" and 20", so I would go with the longer barrel. IMO 20" is about ideal. Jon
