  1. Shibi, thanks for the link to Mimita's. It looks pretty good and is on our list now. We've been to Feli's and the food was good but we felt it was overpriced. The restaurant you mentioned in the Tempe/Scottsdale area is I think, the one we didn't like the food much. Definitely have to go to Mimita's though. Jon, we didn't just try El Cubanito, we stopped there EVERY time we were in Tucson and it was open! My wife and the owner got to be really good friends, and it broke her heart when we found out about the fire.
  2. This is the same info that I got from the fire dept. Captain that taught me how to reload back in 1979! <thumbsup>
  3. Alpha Shooting Sports has a sale going on on AR-15 upper receivers complete with forward assist and dust cover for $69.95. You have to use the coupon code 'BILLET' at checkout to get the discount. http://www.shop.ar15hardware.com/Alpha-Complete-Billet-M4-Upper-alpbilM4uprcomp.htm
  4. My wife used to shoot USPSA (action pistol) competition with me. I got wrapped up in my son's sports and she got wrapped up in her nursing career and we quit shooting for several years. I'm back to the USPSA shooting now that the son has gone off to the military, and she is talking about starting up again too! <thumbsup>
  5. Where did you get the Cuban food? I need addresses! My wife is Cuban and we've been to two Cuban restaurants in the Phoenix area. One was way high priced and the other wasn't very good. There used to be a great Cuban restaurant in Tucson (El Cubanito) down on 6th St. but they had a fire that gutted the building and the old Cuban man that ran it decided it was time to retire. My wife can cook some hellacious Cuban food but we're always on the lookout for a good restaurant.
  6. ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told that one to my wife (she's a nurse). She said "Yeah, I'll bet!" but it did bring a smile to her face!

    Ice Caves

Jon, I don't think it's as much the environmentalists as it is the National Speleological Society. Cave preservation has become a big focus for them and rightfully so. A LOT of the caves in the Guadalupes (Carlsbad Caverns area) were stripped of formations by entrepreneurs back in the late 1800's/early 1900's and sold to tourists. I can show you two caves about an hour and a half from where I live and about two miles from each other that are totally different. Robinson Cave was discovered a lot earlier than Coffee Cave and is basically stripped of formations. Coffee was gated shortly after it was discovered and can be accessed by anyone who goes to the local US Forest Service office and fills out a form and gets the key. By contrast, it is still a beautiful cave with formations intact. I've been in Kartchner (and quite a few other commercial caves) and was amazed at the lengths they went to to keep that cave in it's natural state! The guys who found Kartchner kept it a secret for many years because they feared what would happen to it if the public found out about it.

    Ice Caves

Great pics Sisco! It's amazing how much those ice formations look like the limestone cave formations!

    Ice Caves

Nice! I used to do a lot of spelunking back in the day, but never in an ice cave. All of my trips were into caves here in the southwest. There is an ice cave up around Grants NM that is open to tourists year round but I've never made it up there to see it. Thanks for posting the pics! <thumbsup>
  11. Ron my friend, you are seriously screwed, you just don't know it yet. I am married to a former Bartender ball of fire myself. I really hope I can make this trip if for no other reason than to sit back and watch what happens when Dawn Marie gets turned loose! It's gonna be epic! :ifly: :bb: :sad3: <lmao>
  12. Alpha Shooting Sports has DPMS pattern .308 bolt carrier groups on sale for $175 here; http://www.shop.ar15hardware.com/ALPHA-308-Bolt-Carrier-Group-BCG-308.htm
  13. ^^^^^^THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I'll third it! I would definitely take advantage of Magwa's knowledge!
  15. I've got an Ace on my LR308 and really like it! All my AR-15's have Magpul CTR stocks though, and I like them because of the friction locks that Blue mentioned. I can't stand a stock rattling around on the buffer tube and after I tried the first CTR I changed them all out!
  16. Rob, he was shooting some 200+ gr. bullets. I really didn't ask what the loads were and I guess I should have./
  17. Shepp, you need to lay on your side next time you take pictures so they will be straight! <lmao>
  18. My El Paso friend/machinist built a 300 BLK with a 12" barrel and a carbine gas system. He said supersonic works fine, as does subsonic with the can but subsonic without the can has issues with unreliable cycling. Needless to say, he's replacing the barrel with one with a pistol length gas system. He mumbled something about the carbine gas barrel being the only thing he could get when he built the rifle last year! <laughs>
  19. HAS to be from another country, no Harleys. If that had been here in the states you JUST KNOW that someone would HAVE to build one out of a Harley! Never mind if it's competitive or not, it's the cool factor that counts here! :hethan:
  20. Hey Tom, we have a road course and dragstrip complex out east of town called Arroyo-Seco Raceway. I don't know if they race the ATV's though. Roger, the guy that owns it is big into the sportbike racing.
  21. Shibi's link goes to the homepage, I think he's talking about this; http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/ar-15-parts-sale/p-tac-5-56-full-auto-bolt-carrier-group-w-charging-handle.html
  22. Mike, for the most part I use ball powders for rifle & pistol and some flake powders for pistol but I use Varget for 308 and it meters pretty darn consistent in my Dillon 550. <thumbsup>
  23. I don't know about you Mike, but I have better things to do with my time rather than weigh out each charge. Like, crank out some rounds and go shoot em! :auto: <laughs>
  24. I am severely allergic to high sides! Just sayin! :-[ <lmao>
  25. Thanks Rob! <thumbsup>
