  1. Chair? Anyone frequenting this place should be sitting on at least a bar stool, if not a step ladder. Just sayin! :cookoo: <lmao>
  2. Yup, just about every time I talk guns with someone. I've referred several people over here at brianenos.com.
  3. Thanks guys! I need to give some serious thought to purchasing a couple of them.
  4. Tom, it's plain to see that you were sucked into this vortex of diversion from the git go and are a victim of circumstance! These bandwidth bandits should be ashamed of themselves, but you sir, are a shining light of virtue in this debacle! <lmao>
  5. You got it Rene! Nice! <thumbsup>
  6. Can someone post a link to these triggers? I couldn't locate them on Brownells website. Yeah, I know I'm a computer tard! <lmao>
  7. Well, now it's between this thread and the G.I. Joe one over on the B.A.D. section as to which one is the most monumental thread hijack in the history of this board! :o <lmao>
  8. I keep 3 Magpul mags loaded with factory softpoint ammo and handy at all times, with the dustcover on to take pressure off the feedlips. At any given time I usually have 6 or 7 mil-spec mags loaded with FMJ ammo too. As for ammo cans, all I have are military steel cans. My son the Border Patrol Agent gets his hands on the various military cans at work and brings me some from time to time. Free is good! I've never owned a plastic ammo can. Magazine springs, one of the most cussed and discussed things among USPSA shooters. I have 4 STI hi-cap mags that I've been using in competition for over 15 years that still have the original springs and work just fine. These mags don't stay loaded, but are cycled from fully loaded to empty a LOT of times every year. I get a kick out of the shooters who change their springs out at least once every year (some will change them 2 or 3 times a season). You ask them why they say "Because that's what's recommended." When you ask them by who, they tell you by the top competitors. When you point out that those guys are sponsored and probably get the springs for free, and then ask them if they have ever actually had a malfunction attributable to a fatigued spring they get all huffy! <laughs> On the other side of the coin, I've had single stack 1911 mags and G.I. AR-15 mags that have been loaded for years that worked just fine when used.
  9. He knew all about what he was getting into Tom, his brother and a few others around here filled him in. Didn't deter him one bit. He has always loved a challenge and as a 14 year wrestler (4 yrs. old through high school) he's had a lot of them. His Junior year he broke his thumb in football practice and 3 weeks later had the docter and the coach talked into letting him play with a cast on. That's just the way he's always been. He's also VERY motivated to do better than his older brother did in basic.
  10. Wild horses couldn't keep me away from his graduation! I can't wait to see the new improved version of Josh! Won't be my first though, I went to my older son's graduation at MCRD back in '96 also. He's now a Border Patrol Agent. As for Helldorado Days, I am really hoping to make it. If I do, the only gun I'll probably have with me will be my carry gun, as I'll probably be on the bike. You get funny looks from folks if you try packing a lot of rifles on a motorcycle! <laughs>
  11. Well, Josh flew out to San Diego and MCRD today. I won't get to hear his voice again for 13 weeks. This kid has been my best friend for 20 years, I'm kind off lost right now! :'(
  12. No, that was my son's rifle. His problems disappeared when I switched over to the H335 powder. Now I'm having THIS issue in my rifle with the H335 load that works great in his gun! I think I'm gonna quit shooting and just go bang my head against a wall! Same results, less expense! <lmao>
  13. Mike, I would appreciate any load info you have for H335, I've got an 8# jug of the stuff! :(
  14. You are 100% correct Tom. I found out that the ring was steel, not aluminum. I used an aluminum drift to tighten the ring and left no marks at all.
  15. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that a few minutes of polishing the firing pin tip with some emery cloth would remove the micro stamping and would have no adverse effects on the function of the gun. Criminals are an enterprising bunch and it wouldn't take them long to figure this out.
  16. I've bought several parts there with no problems. <thumbsup>
  17. Don't compromise Rene, get the one you want, even if it takes a little longer! <thumbsup>
  18. You have a 24 foot AR? :o <lmao>
  19. The only time I have carried open was when I was on duty or out in the wild. I've always had the attitude that I want it to be a HUGE surprise when I pull my gun on whoever it is that's doing something to make me need to pull it!
  20. Nice work Edge! Post a pic of the gun when it"s all back together, should look sweet!
  21. Mods, please move if this is not in the right place! Saw this over on brianenos.com, and knowing there were some here who were still interested in getting a monolithic upper thought I would post it. It's a complete rifle for sale in the classifieds there. Link; http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=157949
  22. Yup, me too! :-[
  23. I've been shooting my DPMS carbine for years with IMR4895 loads and never had a problem. When my son bought an AR-15 it had issues with the loads I was using. I worked up a load using 25 grs. of H335 under a 55 gr. FMJBT which works great in my son's rifle, but now I'm having issues with my carbine with the load. Every now and then the rifle cycles, but leaves the empty case in the chamber and upon removing the case I find that the rim has been pulled offby the extractor. I still had some of the old loads with the 4895 powder and they shot just fine. I polished the chamber with a .410 ga. bore mop and some metal polish and a drill, which seemed to help a little. Instead of malfunctioning during the first mag full it went almost 2 mag fulls before doing the same thing. I seem to remember the first M_16's having a similar problem back in the 60's and the military found it was powder related. Anyone else experienced this problem with H335?
