  1. Hah! I still have both of those videos on my phone! I just picked up one of those 100 rnd. drums at the El Paso gun show for $109, it's the Korean one. Haven't got to try it out yet.
  2. Wow, you just made me feel good about living out here in the desert southwest again!
  3. Nice! <thumbsup>
  4. Hell man, you probably need a .22 for those things! (the spiders!)
  5. That's a great looking pistol! <thumbsup>
  6. Laser Cast bullets are very good quality! I've used the 225 grn. TC bullets in the past and really like them too, but anymore I just stick with the 200 grn. SWC.
  7. Bwaaaahaaahaaahaha! <laughs>
  8. I've shot Tom's rifle with the DMR. That is a great trigger!
  9. You already know how he travels Dirk. He sure can't afford to get near any large bodies of water on the off chance he might fall in! <laughs>
  10. Bwaahaahaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE their attitude! My kid got one of those beer kits when he was 19 years old and made a batch of beer. Stuff came out really good too! I told my wife it was funny that he couldn't buy a beer but could make his own!
  11. So you're basing your statement on 50 year old schitt that you read in a book! Damn Jon, the barrel feed ramps on the 1911's from back then were a totally different shape than what's being put out as standard now! Also, that far back would be those short nosed 185 grn. SWC that you don't see much of any more. They were popular in the bullseye matches back in the day but the gun pretty much had to be modified to function with them. Most all SWC bullets for the 45 are now the 200 grn. with a longer nose and they feed pretty good in the majority of the 1911's being made today. These are the old 185 grn SWC that you can't hardly find any more; These are the 200 grn SWC that is the most common 45 SWC being used now;
  12. I would love to shake hands with Dakota!
  13. Armed robbery is a high stress occupation for sure! <lmao>
  14. If you're talking about soft armor then I would have to say yes the side panels are worth it. When I started the PD in 1980 ballistic vests didn't have side panels. When they started making the wrap around type with the side coverage I switched over and never regretted it, even here in the desert. IMHO, there wasn't a noticeable difference in weight or mobility. Now, if you're referring to the plate type armor then I have no clue.

  16. You really think so? I've been shooting 200 grn. SWC in every .45 cal. 1911 I've had in my hands for the last 25 years and they don't seem to be a problem. The last gun I ran them through was Rene's Sig and they worked fine after I fixed the ill designed extractor Sig uses. As far as i know his gun had not had any reliability work done to it before I got it. I have a new RIA 1911 that I'm going to try with those bullets as soon as the weather gets a little better. Now, that being said, the old 185 grn. SWC (which you very rarely see these days) was a very short nose design that caused all sorts of feeding problems.
  17. I store mine in cartridge cases! Seriously, I don't do long term powder storage, I do long term ammo storage.
  18. Yeah, Powder Valley has been getting quite a bit of the higher demand powders lately but the stuff never lasts very long. If you don't catch it within a couple of hours it sells out.

    POF opinions

I got to shoot a POF 308 at the range Saturday as a matter of fact. Had my wife out getting her tuned up to do the concealed carry course and some of her co-workers from the hospital came out too. One of the nurses pulls the POF out of a hardcase and handed it and a loaded Pmag to me. The gun looks great and shot pretty damn good too! I certainly wouldn't feel bad about having one in my gun vault if that particular gun was any indication of what to expect from them.
  20. From another New Mexican, welcome to the board kd5! <thumbsup>
  21. Liber, first off welcome to the board! <thumbsup> If Sig decides to take the Declaratory Relief route you can pretty much bet it won't be with any 'crap' attorney! As for the NFA, that is NOT going away. The fact that it covers weapons capable of full auto fire guarantees that. Ain't gonna happen! The MOST that could be accomplished with that situation would be getting the SBR, SBS and silencer parts repealed.
  22. Anybody here ever heard of 'Declaratory Relief'? Check out this article, it may be the next step in this mess and the ATF might get their peepee whacked! http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/01/foghorn/next-step-atf-pistol-arm-brace-decision-declaratory-relief/
  23. According to The Firearms Blog, this will retail for $129.95 and is supposed to be out this spring or summer.
  24. Hey Tom, I went in the LGS the other day and he had 2 lbs. of Varget and I bought BOTH of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thefinger: <lmao>
  25. Pfffft! a 440? Get real Dirk, put a Chrysler hemi in it!
