  1. Damn, $56 and you don't get the rod or the spring.............
  2. The TWEAKING has commenced. Installed the d. wilson standard BCG and the Tubbs flat wire 300 BO buffer spring. The original port size was the .075 stated by Faxon. I drilled twice today with a trip to the range for testing after the new spring, BCG, and checking the gas system, then after drilling to .078, and again at .081. The last trip showed evidence of progress. Still no lock back on the last round in the mag but the heavier 220 subs are now being fed after each firing. The lighter subs are not feeding a new round but they are not stovepiping and the hammer is being cocked, getting close! I'll open it up a couple sizes too near .085 tonight and get out for another test in the morning. Does anyone have an idea why Faxon would be putting such an undersized port in the barrel, is it actually undersized, maybe meant to be used for just supersonics? I've double and triple checked for gas leaks and found no signs. No burrs in the BCG or anywhere else I can see. No signs of any gas blockage anywhere, I've run my little gas tube cleaner brush through it and disassembled the SLR gas block with nothing unusual found. Buffer weighs 3+ oz. on my chinese kitchen scale. Pretty confident this pistol will end up running whatever I feed it and however I want to run it but feel the need to make sure I understand the hows and whys that get me there.
  3. Looks like QC issues are continuing to plague the new management at Armalite. Of course they are blaming a third party vendor but in my mind they are responsible for every rifle they put the ArmaLite name on. As a former Armalite fanboy I have been very disappointed in S.A.C.'s management of a once top tier brand. From the day they let Mr. Raley go I've been suspicious of their intentions for the brand and these suspicions continue to be confirmed. https://armalite.com/recall/
  4. Just tested the fit between my Armalite and Matrix receivers, nothing plays together. The Armalite mags will not fit in the mag well of the Matrix, neither upper will swap with either lower. It appears the only thing Armalite pattern on my Matrix receiver set are the barrel nut threads. You evidently have a real "custom" rifle.
  5. Had two of his AR15 overrun BCG's waiting for me when I got home. Beautiful work, even the firing pin is nitrided. http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p17/AR15_Bolt_carrier_groups.html
  6. Checking for a stolen gun would be my guess. We need to get away from this practice, they could just take down the serial number and check it without taking the weapon, there was after all no crime committed. Looks like they will have back strap for Christmas dinner!
  7. My first morning home in six weeks, it was 64 when I left the airport in Pensacola Florida yesterday morning before sunrise. Had planned on a range trip first thing this morning but the wife needs the car and nobody else wants to go, bunch of wimps, -17 isn't that bad without a wind!
  8. Back to the origins is where we need to go. The federal government's job under the second amendment is to insure our right to bear arms is not infringed, and that means infringed on by the state, any state, any county, any city. No permits needed, no NFA, no interference from any government. This may seem radical by today's standards but just 100 years ago it was a fact of life. True Liberty is dangerous, just not as dangerous as a tyrannical government.
  9. Sweet looking rifle, looking forward to that range report! Lets see how it runs in the cold.
  10. It's been an hour and all we get is a picture of the box?
  11. d. wilson for a BCG; http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p18/AR10_Bolt_carrier_Group.html 1 blem left at $155 when I posted this.
  12. Snagged a pair of Bobro Low Rider BUIS on an auction, $158 shipped, Merry christmas to me!
  13. Here is a good video with an explanation;
  14. Chasing me out.... Actualy had our first date at a strip club. She was a very understanding woman, UNTIL I put the ring on her finger!
  15. I'm actually looking forward to getting back to Iowa for Christmas, -14 for my first night home, I will be on the range first thing in the morning to see how a couple builds handle it. This Florida weather is a bit too humid for my taste, but the wife is spending more time with me on this job than ever before. I am not sure if it is the weather or the three all nude strip clubs within a mile of my place
  16. Didn't buy complete but bought a receiver/rail set in FDE for an AR15 build. The Cerakote work is top notch!
  17. Welcome from Iowa, via Pensacola!

  19. If 250 is your long shot then 6x on the high end would be enough so 18x is plenty. Sometimes less is more.
  20. Good chance the ATF would lose a well financed fight but that is the problem with these types of findings, the citezen should not have to put everything he has on the line to prove a point. Situations like this brace debacle are clear signs of an oppressive government, some may even call it tyrannical. If you go to court I'll donate what I can to the legal fund.
  21. Welcome from Iowa, via Pensacola! Lots of options for ambi controls, you can add features to about any AR.
  22. The FA pawl will still contact the shoulder of the bolt carrier. One of the favorite BCG's around here is d. wilson. Dave is a member here and does some top notch work! http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p18/AR10_Bolt_carrier_Group.html He has 3 blem bcg's listed on the site right now, a great value. I bought one and can't find the flaw as have others here. I'll let others that have actually done it answer the upper compatibility question.
  23. I don't trust anything SIG claims anymore. Might be enough seperation in the partnership but I know there are lots of MCX pistol owners and prospective buyers waiting in line. Optics Planet is a big buyer so maybe they'll get priority, maybe.
  24. Welcome from Iowa, via Pensacola!
  25. Looks like you may be waiting a bit for that "brace", I don't see any for sale though the price is not to bad where it is listed out of stock. Being a "partner" to Sig does not bode well for the supply, Sig factory weapons will get dibs on what is produced and Sigs reputation for keeping up with demand has been poor lately, guys have been waiting 2 years for their MCX 300 BO barrels they already paid for.
