  1. The pattern maybe... the rifle itself will just keep on keep'n on!
  2. I noticed my set would tighten up if I squeezed it together even with the takedown pin in. My first thought was to see if the Armalite oversized pin wouldn't help take up the slop; https://armalite.com/shop/ar-10-take-down-pin-oversized/ Problem is I don't want to spend the money without seeing the specs on the pin....maybe Armalite will finish updating the site one of these days. EDIT: I found the numbers below on the page with all their pins directly underneath it, https://armalite.com/product-category/lowers/lower-receivers-parts/ does these mean anything to anyone, I'm not sure if they mean they taper from one dimension to the other or is this the normal size and the oversize? Still can't find a length but then I guess I can measure the one in my AR-10 when I get home. Diameter: .277" - .291"
  3. Not sure about the carb button but there's a cream for crabs.....or so I've been told......... ::)
  4. I have to admit I'm bad about palming the FA, even though it was 30 years ago the muscle memory from military training just won't go away easily. Do they still train troops to slam the FA with a palm after a mag change and on malfunction drills?
  5. Don't forget the worst of the lot.....the federal government! Fuk'm all, even the telemarketers that steal my time!
  6. Not yet, I'm out on the road for work and hoping the wife will have the barrel shipped back before I get home. Odds are it will be another week and half before I'm home at the same time as the barrel. Of course if the Mrs. doesn't get it shipped right away I'll grab some pictures this weekend. Dustin at X-Caliber is great to work with, I didn't even have to ask about the barrel, in fact I had sent an email saying it was OK just ship my bolt back right away and I'd handle it but he insisted they headspace to it like he had promised. He hadn't heard of this site yet but promised they would be checking us out.
  7. California ban carbs now??????
  8. X-Caliber called me first thing this morning, they are emailing a shipping label so I can ship the barrel back to check the headspace with my bolt. They are looking pretty good for customer service !
  9. Bushnell is offering $20 and $30 rebates on select products till the end of August; http://bushnell.com/global/promotions
  10. I'm out on the road working till the weekend, the wife called me today and told me I had a "long package"....normally what a man wants to hear......... I'll get pictures posted by Sunday I hope.
  11. Well CRAP! Despite my call and email X-Caliber shipped my barrel before the bolt arrived there :( Very fast for a custom ordered barrel but then I wasn't in a hurry, they shipped Fed-Ex the same day my bolt got there, I ordered it the afternoon of the 14th and it was delivered to my door today the 28th. Now I just hope they ship the bolt back right away so I can get the headspace checked myself before I go any further..#@%#*#*&@
  12. Tool talk never gets old! <thumbsup>
  13. Those kits are a real bargain when you look at what ArmaLite charges for a kit with many fewer parts, getting one is near the top of the list for me as well!
  14. and again, sweet looking rail! That swan sleeve should work well with the extra long eye relief on the SMRS, they list it at 3 1/2 inch but I find I needed closer to four inches and I like my nose right up behind the charging handle so I've had to use the extended style mounts.
  15. :-[ You just missed a blow-out sale on these scopes, Blue posted it on my birthday so I bought myself another;
  16. I can't remember the acronym but X-Caliber has what they said was a "lighter" medium contour, T-something-something, I ordered it but didn't write that part down. They don't have it listed on the website but I heard Justin describing a "diamond pattern" fluting that saved lots of weight while keeping the stiffness, sounded expensive so I didn't enquire further. The more I see of it the more I'm thinking I should order the Matrix rail from Chris......... I'm loving my two Bushnell SMRS 1-6.5 scopes. The BTR-2 has a fast acquisition, mil ranging capability, and a nice precision dot inside the big red circle. And best of all I know they will take a good blow after having one hit the dash in a car wreck with no issue incurred.
  17. Looks good just like it is! Thank you for your service!
  18. More Senators from California :ugone2far: .......not what this country needs!
  19. Welcome from Iowa!
  20. Welcome from Iowa! It does make it easy to spend money around here but at least it gets spent right <thumbsup>
  21. :ugone2far: but will it shoot?? Sometimes I wish I was better at math.... but then someone else does it for me :hail:
  22. Well he is competent at being a slack-jaw <dontknow>
  23. Just curios if that is a 12 or 12 1/2 inch rail on your latest build here? I'm going with a 16 inch rifle length gas system and want about the same exposure you have on your gas block, I'm thinking a 13.5 inch rail may cover it but I'm not sure. I'm still researching into going with adjustable GB or just a standard low profile but either way I'm thinking I like the advantages to leaving it exposed. I've got short arms so I don't really need all that length anyway. Any rail of GB suggestions will be respectfully contemplated........
  24. Iowa has been trying out a corn based glycol product to pre-treat before a storm. They make it from a byproduct of the ethanol manufacturing. it works pretty good but they still use salt after the snow. I was shocked at the amount of salt used this last winter in Massachusetts, they poured it on thick day after day.
  25. Doesn't have to be, if given away for free in its strongest form it would clean up the gene pool in a few short years...........yes a painful few years but there is a price for everything.
