  1. Thanks for posting that upper sale! Some first class enabling there <thumbsup>
  2. Got my ArmaLite M15TBN upper today. I think I've got all the parts I need to put it to use now. Some of this was on the doorstep today; Should have the rest of it in the spare parts bag...............
  3. To this day he trusts his government will take care of him. He patiently waits the 6-9 months between doctor appointments at the VA. He's had cancer a few times, one of these days he will wait to long between appointments. They do send him a check every month for being doused with agent orange, wish he would use that money to get REAL healthcare...........he thinks that if he waits a bit longer they will get there $hit together <laughs> funny, but then not so funny..........
  4. We due tend to be benevolent victors......for better or worse.....
  5. Amen Brothers. We need a "salute" emoticon for this...............
  6. First thing that came to mind. Impressive but maybe not the most effective......
  7. Spending it at my home away from home in Houston, MS. Looks like cool mornings over the holiday weekend so I'll be on the range by 5:30 AM testing out the 4 different loads I bought from Freedom Munitions to see what the AR-10 likes best and then blowing of some ball I have along. I'll spend the hot parts of the day putting all the parts of a new rifle together. Can't think of a better way to celebrate freedom than putting an AR-15 together! I'll post the results on the ammo.........175 gr match, 155 gr BTHP, 168 and 155 gr. A-max. All re-manufactured stuff.
  8. Guess I'll just settle in for the long run then...........time to figure out my next pill, CTR or UBR.........damn, I already have a basic M4 stock... maybe a SSA-E first.........maybe wait and see what is on sale for the 4th........at least it isn't to painful.
  9. I think I caught an AR virus. It started out with a FREE lower parts kit that came with the SSA trigger I ordered for my PM400. I thought it would be nice to have some spare parts but it was a trap, just like the infected blankets given to the indians! I was at the gun show and saw a Spikes lower receiver for $85, thought that might be a good place to store those extra parts since they were from Spikes as well....... Next thing I know I've ordered this; www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=U15T...43-9140-d3a24eb188ec I already had a stock and a buffer tube laying around. Of course being a T upper I'm going to have to buy an SSA-E trigger for it. Wish I had some kind of insurance for this virus, it's getting expensive!
  10. Sad how the media and the political elite start to rewrite history before the chapter is even closed. They did the same thing with the Iran-Contra affair. When I watched the congressional hearings I was constantly yelling questions at the TV, they just left out a whole part of the operation. They don't necessarily lie but conveniently change dates and definitions to suit their timeline and story. You should write down every detail you can think of so the generations after you can find the real true story. My father was a photo interpreter for the Air Force in the early 60's, spent part of that time in the Philippines doing targeting work for Vietnam. He knows things about Vietnam and the Cuban missile crisis that are still not public but he will not write it down because he is afraid they would put him in jail. To this day many events of the Civil War are being changed in history books due to the study of soldiers diaries and letters home, someone will search out the reality some day!
  11. Didn't witness it myself but I've never seen evidence of beavers going after trash.......... Beavers are nasty when cornered though. I trapped them as a kid. I would whacked one in the head with a hammer to kill it. When I opened the trunk at the fur buyers place it was alive and trashing everything else in the trunk. Had to shoot it anyway. Moral of the story, don't whack a beaver!
  12. I always volunteer to go pick up the political signs after elections. provides a nice supply of free target holders, some just flat make fun targets!
  13. Had a buddy who was going to kill a pig with his knife, he hung out in the trash dump till dark sitting on a board placed at the top corner of an 8ft fence. Pig shows up to root in the trash and he drops down on it Rambo fashion with the knife in his mouth. Knife breaks out two front teeth, hog gives him the tusks for a total of 60 stitches in his side leg and arm. Moral of the story, hunt pigs with a big gun and at distance!
  14. I noticed 180 grain soft points get deformed in my AR-10. They get flattened out from banging the front of the mag during recoil and I have ejected live rounds and seen gouges out of the soft points. Same mag with SMK's or FMJ's and I don't notice a thing........ nothing to do with the mags. If you have mags that are causing accuracy issues send them to me for disposal, I'll make sure they don't cause any more issues. <laughs>
  15. Welcome from Iowa and various other locations across the US!
  16. I've read the flat trigger will give you two different feels depending on where you place your finger, high or low. I'm not sure if that would be a good thing or not???????
  17. Just finished putting the Geissele SSA in my PM400, I can't wait to see what this trigger does for group sizes! The difference between the SSA and the stock trigger is outrageous. SIG should be ashamed of themselves for putting that gritty junk in their weapon. <dontknow> It now feels much like the factory trigger in my AR-10, smooooth As far as the install goes it took me longer to watch the video than to actually complete the job. I did have to loosen the pistol grip and rotate the safety in order to remove the stock trigger but it was a very straightforward procedure. Even though my AR-10 trigger works fine for me I'm thinking a Geissele may be in the future for her as well, maybe a SD-E or just the SSA-E, can't decide if the flat trigger would be for me since all my experience is with a standard bow..... Geissele gets <thumbsup> <thumbsup> from me!
  18. Just placed my order for the MI MCTAR-30HD, should have it next week, I'll try to remember to measure the tube, it does have a knurled section on the tube close to the receiver, just not far enough out to keep the "brace" where I need it. Thanks for all the guidance!
  19. Shot a box of ZQ1 7.62 ammo from Walmart today. it is said to be NATO M80 ball spec ammo but the box is very light on info. I only shot a 20 round box but there were no issues. After a couple adjustments on the scope I got a 1 1/4 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards. Shot with my AR-10, Bushnell 2.5x10 Elite 4200, with nothing but an Atlas bipod and my shoulder. I'm betting with some bench bags it could do better, a new scope mount might negate the need for the adjustments every time I set up. Not bad though for just over $16 a box with tax.
  20. <laughs> I knew I couldn't be the only one <lmao> Used to try out different patterns when I stocked the milk at the grocery store, put the oldest about 2/3 rds back and people will grab it and not even check the date <lmao> <laughs>
  21. Add the WWI P17 to the list, solid heavy stock with a steel butt plate, heavy as all get out!
  22. Funny how that works, the places you are most likely to need access to your weapon are the places that make it the most difficult. You don't think the criminals take this into account do they?????????
  23. Yep, you don't get that many loads from a semi before the rims are trashed anyway, overworking the shoulders has not been an issue for me, fire away! I suppose if your after match grade accuracy it might make a very slight difference in pressures, maybe a brass catcher would stop the issue????
  24. <laughs> More of what I had expected! <lmao>
  25. Amen! I heard a personal recollection about this from a Vietnam Vet, he recounts his opponents lower jaw was crushed while his M-16 came out unscathed. Stroke, not swing!
