I found out from a friend of mine today, that a mutual friend passed last Friday. Arthur Perry was a good man. He was a good Marine. He did his time in Vietnam. Then later went on to do about 20 years on the DC police force.....in parts of DC that were considered the Beirut areas. He himself told me once, when I asked why he would want to be a cop in DC, "I figured that I survived tours in Vietnam.......then I'll survive here doing this. Besides.....chasing crooks is optional". That was his kind of humor when it came to middle and upper management of the force. The guy had MANY great stories of his time as a DC cop. Few of his time in Vietnam. Which I totally understood. Even though I hadn't seen our brother Arthur for almost (damn....almost 15 years now), I feel (NO...I KNOW) that he was one of us. So hold your glasses up high gentlemen. Another Ground-Pounding, Jarhead, DevilDog of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children has passed on. A firm and steady salute to you my brother. SEMPER FI! Carry on.....................................................................
